MarvinFun, uniqueMost interesting fried egg ever. Fun place and great outdoor patio6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeEvery time it is so good... consistent and fun. Good food and great service!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFun find in DCWhile chicken and waffles is a pretty common dish, Marvin's has tasty fried chicken; some of the best I've had. The addition of tender collard greens to the dish was a plus. We also tried a special of fried soft shell crab étouffée that was prepared perfectly. I would come back again. Food was inventive and yummy, the atmosphere fun and the drinks inventive. Great combination for a fun evening.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceWe were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary in DC. We are from NYC and have been to DC several times. Went to Marvins for the first time. The atmosphere and service was great. The chicken was the crispyest and tenderest breast that I have ever had and the waffles was cooked to profection. Did not put any syrup on until I noticed it on the plate. So even without the syrup at the beginning I was hooked. I look forward to trying the mussle if I can resist the urge to get chicken and waffles.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Fast service evenGreat food. Fast service even when the place was packed. The rooftop is great too! I took my friend who was in town from California and she really enjoyed it.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DinnerEverything tasted very fresh and simple in a good way. Nothing on the menu was particularly exotic or "foodie" but it was very good5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner spotI've gone to Marvin's several times and the food is always consistent. I typically get the chicken and waffles, but I wanted something a little difference. I had the scallops and they were perfectly cooked with delicious sides and sauce. The concept of Belgian meets Soul food is an interesting one. If you've never been, I would check this place out!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTwas cool.My girlfriend and I had our 2nd anniversary dinner at Marvin's. Chill vibes walking in; the hostess was awesome, I think her name was Britt. She wasn't afraid to speak to us past just seating us at the table, which is what most host/ess often find challenging.
We gandered at the chef's portfolio, which looked straight up my alley: moules frites and beef short ribs. Mi lady ordered the chicken and waffles. Both were delicious. We had some apps, but I had so many Soraichi Aces (top 3 favs), they became just a faded memory.
Our server was cool. She is Turkish, and my girlfriend is British, so I let them chat it up about European culture and whatever. But she was on her "A" game, shout-outs to the bombdiggity Turkish waitress.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe noise level was the onlyThe noise level was the only bad aspect os Marvin. There were several vv loud groups which spoiled the dinner experience. The food was outstanding. Service was excellent.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was good - though I HATEFood was good - though I HATE when places keep the heads on shrimp, especially when they're in a mountain of delicious grits. Then I have to make a huge mess of the plate and mess around for 5 minutes before I can even take a bite. Also, there were collard greens with the chicken and waffle (I say waffle because there was one measly little waffle, delicious tasting but should have been 2x bigger). I love collard greens...but not with syrup.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid SpotGreat for visiting friends or locals. Downstairs is a bit more intimate if it's just 2. Service this time around wasn't that great but we were late so that may have had something to do with it. The hostess' however were amazing and flexible.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place to go anytime...theA great place to go anytime...the food is great! If you're up for a great meal, stay downstairs. If you're up for a packed outdoor bar, head upstairs. We had no idea what was upstairs until my gf had to make a call - she came back and said there were 150+ people upstairs - the restaurant had like 3 couples and a few at the bar. Of course we went upstairs after dinner and had a great time.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Brunch menu was a goodThe Brunch menu was a good one with many options and nothing that made me think "why is this on hear"
The coffee is french press, and you won't drink as much as you would for a normal drip, so keep that in mind when ordering small vs. large.
Reservation recommended as I could see it getting busy on weekends for brunch.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI thoroughly enjoyed diningI thoroughly enjoyed dining here. The service was very fast and hospitable. The chicken and waffles were great. My only caveat is that two waffles should be served to match the chicken portion. Also, alternative meat flavoring for the collard greens should be provided for those who do not eat pork. Otherwise, a great dining experience! Will definitely be back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant! Warm vibeGreat restaurant! Warm vibe with awesome food. I would definitely eat there again!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, drinks, music, and rooftopFood, drinks, music, and rooftop bars were outstanding. Will definitely visit whenever I'm in the area again!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAppetizers would get a 5 *Appetizers would get a 5 * rating. But the entrees were disappointing and the frites were limp.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our second time hereThis is our second time here - and we do not even live in DC. But when we visit, we make a point to add a visit to Marvin on the list. Our absolute favorite is the chicken and waffles. It is so flavorful, and easy to eat! This is a must-visit place!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
