  • "we ended up at martinique bistro because other restaurants were full. guess it was our lucky day as we discovered a gem in uptown!!!"

  • "My favorite go to (1-2/week) is going through major changes. I'm not sure why the owners want to mess with the menu or why they don't appreciate what they have -- the menu changes, the management staff leaves, and most of the front of the house has left or is leaving. You can find some of these great people at Le Petite Grocery or Dante's. DON't mess with success! We shall see what happens ----"

  • "I was relieved we were able to get a big table reservation day of- I was a little concerned hat no one returned my message when I called to confirm my reservation; we were still all happy about being in the outside patio. The food was great and we had a nice experience."

  • "We found this restaurant to be a cozy and quiet retreat. I did not have a main meal but had a starter, salad and dessert. The scallop starter with kimchi had just enough" heat " to be interesting. They had a few mussel dishes that sounded delicious and imaginative. Pistachios added crunch and flavor to the roasted baby beet salad. Both desserts I tried were winners - the crème brulee and .dark chocolate cake. This is definitely a place to return."

  • "The ambience of the outdoor section was very nice. The food was so so. Everyone in our party agreed that all of our dishes were too salty. I was disappointed in this."

  • "Delicious, innovative menu items such as escargot in a profiterole, chicken on a biscuit, lobster roll. YUM."

  • "Awesome restaurant. When I am in Nola I have to go there. If there is one negative it is their desserts."

  • "Everything we ordered was delicious! From the steamed mussels to the escargot and duck with pork belly. The portions were perfect and I left satisfied but not uncomfortably over-stuffed. The meal was topped off with the best dessert I have ever had, cheers to the pastry chef! Passed on the creme brûlée to try the Hazelnut and olive oil cake with raw honey ice cream. It was everything and more. Each bite of warm cake paired with the perfect amount of ice cream sweetness. I wanted to order another to bring home with me for a midnight snack. I would return for the cake alone but the entire menu was top-notch with a laid back but helpful waitstaff. Next time we will request a table on the patio."

  • "Intimate seating and terrific menu. We enjoyed our meal and the staff was attentive to detail. A very enjoyable meal and time well spent."

  • "Martinique Bistro is somewhat hidden on Magazine street due to their garden room, which is a bricked-in semi-open area. The walls are covered in vines, but it's tastefully done to where it doesn't feel like they've let them go crazy. We chose Martinique Bistro for Sunday brunch because Commander's Palace didn't have any available reservations, which worked out great for us!. Wait until 11:30 or noon if you don't want to be the first reservation of the day. Pig in a Hole was excellent! Crabcakes and cocktails were also delicious! Extra props to the staff for dealing with no running water due to unscheduled city maintenance. Staff was very friendly and helpful while unobtrusive. Even the owner came over to chat about recent renovations."

  • "Overall, the food and service were excellent at this garden district eatery. The brightest spot of the meal was definitely the scallops, which were garnished with kimchi and cucumber, plus a delicious barbecue sauce--a very unique dish, and one of the most delicious scallop dishes I've ever had (and I live in Boston...)."

  • "Got the flank steak which is usually very good. This time, however, it wasn't up to the normal standard. Presentetion and prep were very average."

  • "Martinique Bistro's garden seating is simply the best and part of what makes their brunch so special! If you are looking for great patio seating, as well as good food, choose Martinique for your next weekend brunch!"

  • "We received great recommendations from our server, who provided spot-on descriptions of the entrees. The Yellow Fin Tuna special was executed perfectly and the lamb loin was accompanied by a delicious mix of starches. Big flavors and presentation without the pretention of other restaurants in New Orleans."

  • "Now we can have the alfresco feel when the weather is not perfect!"

  • "Entirely serviceable restaurant, which unfortunately makes it an unlikely future stop in the foodie's paradise that New Orleans has so completely become."

  • "My girlfriend and I loved it! The Pig in a Hole was amazing."

  • "Just dined at Martinique on Tuesday evening, first time in several years. We are kicking ourselves for waiting so long. My wife had the salmon and I had a Hawaiian seabass. both perfectly cooked. steak tartare starter and beet salad were equally delicious. The waitress was attentive and helped us select a great gruner veltliner. We will be back soon!"

  • "That's about what I can say about Martinique. It was good. Food was well done. The biggest thing I would say is that for a one time shot it was good but there was nothing to bring me back. I wasnt blown away by anything. There's service was I would say par.. But if they would have would have taken the time to read the open table res notes about this being a late Valentine's day because I worked on Vday because I work in the industry I feel like at other restaurants maybe knowing that might have garnered more attention. as a whole my experience was okay. I feel like...i gave them several opportunities to talk up/sell us on things. Zero to no interest in to why we were there that evening?"

  • "This was our first time to visit Martinique and it was simply wonderful. It was our Valentine's Day dinner and it could not have been better. The menu was prix fixe, which I have had bad luck with before at other restaurants, but theirs was excellent. Our meal was wonderful, the staff was VERY nice, and all-in-all it was a great experience. We cannot wait to go back and enjoy this restaurant again. The one thing I was worried about was parking in Uptown but, to my surprise, they offer valet service and it was awesome. It definitely makes for a stress free evening."

  • "Have eaten here many times and have always enjoyed. Tried brunch...not so good! The outdoor seating had canvas tied around the entire perimeter making the seating very undesirable. Asked for a corner table with a glimmer of sunlight and was told it was reserved. Needless to say, that party never showed the entire time we were there. So, we sat inside. It was dark and very interruptive with the wait staff hitting the back of my chair the entire meal. As for the meal, grillades and grits were not what your mama fixed. To much vinegar mixed in the sauce with some type of pickled greens. The meat was pork...who knew! Will go back for dinner but brunch is out. Too many places in this city to enjoy a beautiful day out having brunch."

  • "My friend and I had a wonderful meal. The standouts were my starter of escargots in a pastry with the most sublime sauce and her fish of the day which was prepared with such attention to detail and was so tasty and yet light and unfussy. It was my second visit and I'm going back again, soon! It is small yet I didn't feel crowded by neighboring tables and the service was friendly and perfect."

  • "I'd always heard that this was a really romantic/intimate dining experience. I did not find it to be so at all. Maybe that's my fault for being misled. The restaurant was nice and the food was very good, just wasn't the romantic atmosphere I was expecting. If someone asked me if they should eat there, I'd give them an "Eh.""

  • "This was my 2nd visit. Too cold to take advantage of the popular outdoor area. My wife and I had a notable weeknight meal. Their menu had impressive selections. The execution on the food was good but not great (my wife and I both had the cassoulet), but overall still a wonderful dining experience. I will certainly be back."

  • "This was my second time here. The food is good, but I was annoyed that I wasn't able to sit outside on a balmy February evening. Their website says the courtyard seating is first-come, first-served. So, I booked an early dinner reservation and noted I'd like to sit outdoors. There was one table outdoors that was occupied and the rest were empty, but "fully booked" according to the host. The outdoor tables are NOT first come first served, they go to whoever requested them first (unclear if noting your preference in your reservation counts as requesting). Then, my husband and I were seated at a four top in the very MIDDLE of the restaurant. Not exactly romantic. Not sure what you have to do to get a decent table."

  • "The food is unfailingly wonderful and service very good to great. It has great ambiance, lively and fun but not noisy. The decor is like country French -- comfortable and warm with a nice touch of elegance."

  • "I ordered the special for the day which was flounder with lobster and mushroom-pasta and asparagus; it was heaven. The mixture of tastes was truly magical......if I came back every day this week I would order the same thing. The service as always was efficient and friendly, and the ambience was great."

  • "Old management was excellent but this is way better. Much improved menu and especially improved is the service."

  • "Excellent food on our Frday night visit with a large group. The food was very much classic French bistro food. The wait staff was very pleasant and accomodating"

  • "This was our 2nd visit. While the food was not a fabulous as our first time, it was still better than most places we have eaten in New Orleans. Still highly recommend it."

  • "Impressed with the sauces accompanying the dishes. Could have been given a better table, especially that it was not completely full during end of the evening seatings."

    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "My boyfriend and I ate here on Christmas Eve and had their Revillon menu. Every dish was a delicate take on traditional french and creole bistro fare, very flavourful and we'll prepared. The service was prompt, knowledgeable and easy to help. The restaurant itself is a bit small, but warm and comfortable."
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "It was difficult to get a reservation for Christmas Eve, and Marrinique Bistro was far from where we were staying. It was worth the trip. The restaurant was very busy, but the service was excellent. There were three in our party, and we all enjoyed our food choices. We'd definitely go back."
