Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent food, wide bar selection, server is very knowledgeable and very helpful in making selections."

  • "This was our anniversary dinner. I asked for a seating that might be more quiet to talk. When we arrived the hostess said Happy Anniversary, and they took us to the back room off to the side, which seemed great. But the next table was a large group of young women, and across were two more large groups. The noise increased, and the pitch from the women even higher. We had trouble hearing the server and he kept apologizing. Since they were so busy, our drinks and appetizer took awhile, then our main dish came faster than expected. The food was excellent, but it was so hard to talk we mostly just sat and ate. The mgr came by to offer free desert and to move us, but we were 1/2 thru dinner by then. Fun place for groups, not for romance."

  • "The food at Martini was excellent, the only negative was that it was extremely loud in the restaurant. There were multiple bachelorette parties and you basically had to yell to hear your guests across the table. Not the restaurant's fault though."

  • "We had a group of 4, which switched to 8, which switched to 11...and Martini's was fantastic in accomodating. Very prompt service, and really showed an interest in having us experience a great meal/drink!"
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "Consistently good food, though the menu had not changed since we were last there 2 years ago. Calamari appetizer was a little soggy; veal Martini was tasty as were the other dishes. Both times we've eaten there the restaurant has been full of very large, loud groups; this time it was high school prom goers. We could not hear each other talk at all and ate in silence. Had to ask several times for bread, which came at the end of the meal and tasted like a sweet sponge with a salted top. Service was very good otherwise."

  • "My husband and I went to Martini's for our anniversary dinner and it didn't disappoint. The food exceeded our expectations by far. We will definitely be going back in the near future."

  • "We dine here often and have yet to be disappointed by the meal. Everything is always delicious. The bar scene is fun and we can rely on a fun evening everytime"

  • "I've dined here three times, and each time I would rate the food 5 stars. Service is always pleasant. Happy hour is great for appetizer and cheap, delicious martinis! Dark Cherry Manhattan is a must!"

  • "Martini had some of the best veal parm (listed as milanese on the menu) that I've ever tasted!"

  • "Martini's is the perfect place to take out-of-town visitors, especially those staying at the downtown Hilton (practically next door). Everyone in our group of four was impressed with their dinner. The chocolate torte and the lemon torte were perfect desserts, despite the fact that we were already full! Service was on spot. The restaurant has a very nice decor and lively vibe. I will definitely recommend it when we have a downtown event."

  • "nice place to go before the theater, the valet parking takes the hassle of downtown parking. we hadn't been there for a long time,. but the food, and service was as great as we remembered!"

  • "We have been dining @ Martini Modern Italian for years, and it is always the best dining experience. From the atmosphere, which is lively & modern, (very comfortable tables) to the service, always outstanding and the food is so yummy! I love the grapefruit gimlet to start along w/ the moz cheese appi. All four of us enjoyed different entrees of lamb, steak and chicken and fish - each just wonderful! Martini is our favorite spot before the Blue Jackets game. See you next time!!"

  • "Had a happy hour for my 50th birthday and Dennis and the gang made it a night to remember. LOVE Martini and all of its wonderful staff. They go above and beyond to ensure a great experience from the moment you walk through the doors. Fabulous food and drinks and outstanding service....consistently!"

  • "Our experience at martini is consistently good. Good value for the money spent. Appropriate portions and balanced seasoning. TThe menu is relatively limited but we enjoy what we order. This is always a good choice. Not superior which is OK but reliable which is very nice"

  • "Eat here regularly; working down the menu: Lamb Parpadelle. Very good. Lamb-and-noodles in a brown sauce. The lamb was meltingly soft, with a consistency like you'd get after expert treatment by some South Carolina master of the slow-cooking smoker. Craftsman noodles were interesting, wide, flavorful, meaty, although too long. The brown sauce seemed like a straightforward reduction of stock and wine with lots of dissolved fond -- solid, journeyman sauce making, but not quite interesting or deep, and could have benefited, in my opinion, from a little cream, a little butter, maybe a little anchovy or marrow. Dish would benefit from some vegetable in the mix, too, vs. meat-and-noodles straight-up. Quibbles, though: was very good."

  • "I love this place. It has a level of class while remaining accessible to the average person. The service is amazing, the servers will accommodate your every wish. It was a little loud but this was due to a large group near our table. The mozzarella is a delicious appetizer. Their daily specials are very good at a respectable price. Overall I would recommend this place for anyone."

  • "The chef specials were absolutely mouth watering! Very impressive! Love our waiter, Michael... he was truly outstanding. Very knowledgable on the menu and wines, and just a treat to interact with. Made our night out perfect! Would certainly return!"

  • "You forget how important good or even average service is until you have a bad night and then you remember… We have been here before and were looking forward to returning. An opinionated, rude waitperson ignored a basic request pertaining to our wine service THREE times, and then quit tending to our table 3/4 of the way through the meal. All the sudden the whole night was about her and her lack of professionalism. We might have liked the food, a few things were really well prepared, but I really resent that we spent close to five hundred dollars to take our family to a place they had been dying to go to and have this happen. We rarely get to be together and all us felt cheated out of what should have been a wonderful memory of that weekend."

  • "Often in Columbus, Martini's a fav, working down the menu: Chicken Carbonara. Verdict: disappointing. The consistency of the sauce was fine, the bland asparagus chunks cooked al dente, but that's it. Pedestrian seasonings -- insufficiently removed from the frozen food section, like a cheap wine, no depth or complexity. Lemon juice? Garlic? Anchovy paste? Sun-dried tomatoes?? Anything other than cream-and-cheese? Chicken pieces were dry, as though the chefs had never heard of brining; suspect they thawed-out a portion of frozen, pre-cooked meat after I ordered. The blobs of pasta were large and sticky; farfalle or penne would be better choices. The dish was about the quality I would expect at a Big Boy's."

  • "Great energetic place for drinks and dinner. Wonderful bar with pros behind it serving real drinks with fresh ingredients. Wait staff is very good. Menu is awesome. Love the veal chop, the antipasto and the short rib. Been there several times and everyone always loves the place. It's usually crowded. Need a reservation. Can be noisy with the crowd, but not bad enough to drop it off a list of places you should try in Columbus."

  • "My husband and I took our daughter here for dinner during her sorority's parent weekend. We LOVED it. Will definitely go back. Hostesses were so friendly and professional. Server (Ryan?) was outstanding -- attentive without interfering with our visit. Just loved the food (scallops with risotto, salmon with arugula, bruschetta). Went out with other families later that evening and highly recommended that they come here on their next visit to OSU."

  • "Service was a little disorganized. Saw our food walking around the service area for all three courses and the same happened at the tables next to us. Not a good place for a date as the two seats are against the wall and you're too far apart to talk w all the noise. It was about 75% full and we could barely hear each other"

  • "We love to come to Martinis. We struggle with what to order. We usually end up with the same dinner because we love it so much. My husband had Filet Mignon plus a ceasar salad. I always get the shrimg (ummmm) & your wonderful beet salad. You have cappachino which is a great way to finish a great dinner. We enjoyed spending my husband's 65 birthday with you. We love to go to many of your restaurants. I guess you could call us Cameron Mitchell junkies."

  • "We were in town for business meetings and found Martini right up the street from our hotel. After looking at the menu online, we decided to book a table. We got there during happy hour and the bar was packed, but luckily we scored a table near the window for drinks and apps. The signature cocktails were very good and the apps (carpaccio and fresh made mozzarella) were great! We then had a great meal with desserts. I was a little surprise to find the secondi piatti came with sauces and pasta, as that is not how I found it to be in Italy, but they were delicious. Service was great - informative, attentive, but not overbearing and definitely not rushed, despite the business of the restaurant."

  • "Made our reservations prior to the theater for a Sunday evening. Service was excellent and food to the table rather quickly. The wine selection was very good and Sundays offer half price on bottles. We had 5 for dinner and we all had a delicious meal, shared 2 desserts and a couple bottles of wine. We will return!!"

It was a bit more than I am used to paying but for a night out with a friend or group, why not enjoy something new and different?? I will definitely recommend this place, and highly rate it"

You have to try one of their specialty martinis. We will definitely return. Check this place out. You won't be disappointed."

  • "We had dinner reservations for 4 at 6 pm. The waitress knew we had concert tickets at 8 pm 2 blocks away. We were there on time and seated at 6:10. Drinks and salads were served at the appropriate time. After waiting an inordinate amount of time to be served dinner, I left my seat at 7:30 to find the waitress and find out what was going on. She defensively said "I put your order in right when I took it." I told her she had 5 minutes to serve us or we had to leave. At 7:40 we were served (mine was not as ordered). We hurriedly ate what we could and had to leave. The manager apologized, but a restaurant of this supposed caliber should staff accordingly when there is a large event close by that they should know will make them busy."
