Marsilios KitchenMagnificent at MarsiliosWhat a wonderful dining experience!!!! From start to finish these folks are pros. Reserved a table for 6 that was ready upon arrival. Our server, Justin, was very attentive to our every need. His knowledge of the menu was very helpful to 4 of the guests that were "first timers." Apps were delightful, salad crisp and not overdressed and the entrees were awesome!!!!! I had the Breaded veal chop which was nothing but perfect. I asked to have a lemon-caper sauce instead of the menu offerings which made the dish perfect for my taste. We took dessert to-go and went home and enjoyed them with espresso and sambuca. The chopped antipasto was as good as any time, the complimentary bread was rustic and delicious, and my eggplant rollatini was perfect. My father's veal was likewise tender and near perfect. The raviolis were a hit with myself and the little brother. Overall, a rather solid dining experience.
It was however, quite apparent, that the majority of the staff's attention was on a back-room party. Only three staff members, one of which was the chef, were spotted by yours truly and the rest of the family. We waited about 5 minutes at the entrance until we were greeted and taken to a table, we had a reservation made online. A waitress in the dining room noticed us, but did not appear to react or come to greet us. The waiter we had was poorly trained or not prepared and did not know the menu as well as I did, just read it online before leaving the house. Poor customer service will negatively impact this really fine eatery like it does any other business, I hope the ownership takes notice and addresses this with their staff. The ownership is usually present, but tonight they were not and it showed. The owner takes time to visit each table and the service is attentive without being intrusive. Food was perfect. We enjoyed the sausage appetizer (will get this regularly now) and everyone loved their entrees. I had a veal dish with mushrooms, it was delightful. Others had the filet with bernaise sauce, which I tasted, it was tender and delish. I had the Canoli Sundae for a treat, and the pistachio gelato was delicious. We will be returning soon for my birthday! Four of us had dinner and all took home leftovers. Our service was a little slow due to the waiter having a table of 8 he needed to deal with. The table size needs some improvement or they need to take off some of the table items as there was very little room when appetizers, bread and out wine bucket was put on the table. While this table was for four, it really would have been a better table for 2 or 3 people. Now located in nearby Ewing, this version of Marsilios is a pleasant reminder of the past. It still offers very good Italian food at moderate prices.
