Marsha BrownImpressedDid not know what to expect when I was suggested to go to Marsha Brown's church modified restaurant. Welcomed by a hostess, since we have arrived before the reservation time we were guided to the bar area. Well stocked bar with a large variety of wines, beers and liquors, imported and domestic. Knowledgeable and efficient bartenders. Cozy and calm ambiance at the bar. When guided to the dining area noted the modifications made to the former church, keeping the stained glass windows, making it a conversation piece. Background music, soft and pleasant.
The service is exceptional, food tasty and cooked to order. Appreciate not being rushed. Manager checking if everything is well.
In short, good food, good service, good value for the money.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM1st time @ Marsha Brown'sEverything was wonderful at this fresh ingredients, made-to-order Southern style gem! Very relaxed atmosphere, highly recommend, and looking forward to patronizing again!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding serviceWe had enjoyed lunch here before previously at the bar, but this time we sat upstairs. Beautiful room in old restored church, there are even seats in what would be the choir loft! Our server, Dan, was super professional and friendly, really made it a wonderful experience on par with some of the service we are used to receiving in New York City. The steak was a bit too peppery for me and the asparagus was anemic, but the wine was delish and prices were quite fair. The dining room is noisy, I think because of the acoustics and the openness of the room. But the service was the shining star and made the experience for us. There were lots of groups and tables with children.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDecentThis restaurant is decent. I have been all over the world and have tried many different restaurants. However, for a steakhouse, feel the appetizers, raw bar, and Salads were better than the main steak courses. I am not one for all ala carte style.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMService and food were excellent.Service and food were excellent. Waiter (Adrian) gave great advice and did not try to upsell. Most dinners $25 to $35 +/-..6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMCajun.....Mmmmmm!Real deal Louisiana cookin. Awesome setting, food can't be beat and you don't see it much in the northeast.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is in an oldThe restaurant is in an old beautiful church including colorful stained glass windows with a hugh mural at the front. I loved this very unique restaurant. The food with the flavor of New Orleans was thought delicious by everyone. I had a unique dish with eggplant, shrimp, and crabmeat, with the best sauce I can ever remember having. The dish was so different then anything I had ever tasted, but delicious! Our server Jack, was so attentive and friendly. He made the suggestion for the eggplant dish or I don't think I would have selected it. We all had a wonderful dinner experience at Marsha Brown's.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceGreat food and service in an old church, super for a special occasion.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience!I would recommend Marsha Brown's to anyone visiting the New Hope area. The service was impeccable, the staff was very friendly. The food came real fast, and was really delicious.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerMy wife and I both ordered the Salmon & Shrimp on Grits which was very good. The asparagus side was very good as well, but the creamed spinach tasted a bit burnt.
Wide choice of wines and bottled beer, but no draught beer.
They took a photo of us at the table as a complimentary gift because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. That was a nice touch.
The service is attentive and friendly and you are definitely made to feel welcome there.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCreole DelightTerrific food - crab cheesecake for appitizer was totally incredible; etoufette was a rich and delightful entree. Great scotch selection at bar - including Laphroaig 18 yo !5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDee-LiciousMarsha Brown's never fails in food and service. The oysters were divine and the menu itself is so special. It was hard to decide what to order. Very professional staff and friendly.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food a Marsha BrownThe entrees and deserts are great !!! The menu has a nice variety, different then the typical resturants.
The fresh bread was really nice too. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. One minor issue, they forgot our side order of potatos but we didn't need them since the portions are so large.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat after Graduation! We chose Marsha Brown's as the place to celebrate my son's Master's Degree. It was the perfect place to go, the food was great and the atmosphere was too. We arrived a little early but they already had our table ready. Dan and Rebecca took good care of us and gave great recommendations for wine and food so if you go there trust them they are professionals! We will definitely be going back!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMas always excellentService (Jack) was, as always, great. There was one vegan in our party and not much vegan on the menu, but the staff was very helpful and could make some necessary changes to accommodate her. All the food was delicious!!!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was quite good! a bitFood was quite good! a bit pricey. Since it was mother's day evening, it was still a bit crowed with groups and tumult....not an ideal time but where is on mother's day. The plateau was very good as were chopped salad and crab cakes. For the price I would think that the entree should be served with a side.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely enjoyed the entireAbsolutely enjoyed the entire experience. The food was wonderful! The staff was attentive and friendly.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Orleans flavor. ParkingNew Orleans flavor. Parking an issue but they have $10 valet. All upstairs seating but they have an elevator.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMService always starts outService always starts out excellent then tapers off. Once you order, youre original waiter becomes scarce and you must rely on others for drinks etc. Second time this happened so waiter gets smaller tip. Bread is also slow coming and youre told its in the oven but could be faster.
Ceasar salad good. Jumbalya disappointing bc was looking forward to shrimp etc in a nice sauce over rice. Instead it looked and tasyed like a ball of mush. Everything semed blended together?? Taste was ok but Wouldnt get again. Mom got lobster pot pie. Again taste was good but should be called lobster soup with a crust bc its not pie all liquid.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFantasticUnique restaurant in a quaint/artsy riverside town.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMTop-notch!We were seated right on time. The wait staff were knowledgeable and very attentive. The ambiance was great as usual, the stained glass windows add a nice touch. Three of us had appetizers and entrees, all of which were excellent. A terrific dining experience, not to be missed when you are in the New Hope area.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous!Fabulous as always! We had dinner for my husband's 60th birthday. Great attention to detail....fantastic service...wonderful meal.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat can I say...Other than awesome? The atmosphere and the stained glass windows from it formerly being a church was charming. The food was simply amazing. The cut and cook of the steaks were perfect, the vegetables were fresh and had snap and the sweet potato casserole was more dessert than a side. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the history of Marsha Brown. We did partake in the special of the evening, a Manhattan cut in an Au Poivre, and it exceeded expectations. Chef Caleb recieved high marks from everyone at the table. I highly recommend Marsha Brown's to anyone who isn't afraid to spend a little more to get a lot of flavor.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Eggplant Ophelia was outstandinThe Eggplant Ophelia was outstanding, as was the salmon/scallop dish served over grits.
Desserts were equally toothsome.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMwaitressThe only complaint is that our waitress appeared a little over whelmed...only when it started to get busy as the dinning room filled up. Slow in checking back on us and the check, noticed it with another table too.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!Unbelievable, outstanding!!!!!! I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Cajun cooking and wants to be reminded of New Orleans.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMthis restaurant Rocks!!! Thethis restaurant Rocks!!! The food is excellent & fresh, service can't be beat- very attentive and professional with a dash of fun,....such a great place to get together, have a couple, eat some, a tad pricey however worth every cent ;-)4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFlaxless service; great experienceI was especially impressed with the teamwork exhibited at our most recent visit. We ate in the choir loft area (the top floor). We had asked to be there because we felt it would be quieter than it would be on the main (second) floor, and we were right.
We were seated in a small niche next to a stained glass window. Service was extraordinary! Our orders came right, were delivered to the correct person, even though they were delivered by a person who had not taken the orders. That means that communication among the staff was excellent.
Any requests were fulfilled quickly.
Our only quibble was that, on this particular visit, the bread was not as hot as it had been at previous visits. Otherwise, this was flawless! Highly recommended!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waiter, Adrian, was bothOur waiter, Adrian, was both knowledgeable and charming. He answered all of our questions fully to include our questions about the history of the restaurant. The entire wait staff performed exceptionally well and were very attentive to our requests. While the environment was loud, the overall decor and design was fabulous and really made for a unique dining experience. While all the food was delicious, highly recommend the crab cheesecake and the chopped salad, as both are exquisite!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhere Burbon St Meets the DelawareMarsh Brown resides in a staunch neo-gothic stone ediface. Once a church. Now a bit of the French Quarter on the Delaware. A surreal experiece. The interior is grand and lively, contrasting with the cold dark exterior facade. Warm, soulful Jazz piped into the spacious dining room. From a culinary standpoint, Marsha Brown is not New Orleans-esque. It is New Orleans. Whether one feasts on the traditional Jambalaya and gumbo; or something a bit unconventional - all is perfection. An extensive wine list and a full bar compliments the feast. You will be guided through your experience by the most pleasant wait staff north of Lac Pontchartrain. Mother's Day is coming up. What a place to take your mother! I will try again.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to come back!Went to Marsha Brown for the first time last Friday and my girlfriend and I both loved it. The fact that it's a converted church gives the place a really cool vibe to begin with. The food was simply outstanding. The crab cheesecake, jambalaya, and eggplant ophelia were all fantastic. And then we got the Sweet Potato Casserole. Let me tell you, we would go back for that dish alone. It was great as a side, but then our outstanding waiter suggested adding some vanilla ice cream when we thought we couldn't finish it. It blew our minds how good that combo was. Wow. Waitstaff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive as well. We cannot wait to come back here soon with more of our friends/family.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great amd theThe food was great amd the venue was wonderful.
