Once again, everyone in our party was delighted with everything about Marseille. We arrived a little early, and instead of having us wait at the bar, the maître d' asked us which table we'd prefer. That was a first! Three of us ordered the French Onion soup, which is the only one of its kind that I'll eat; its broth is rich in flavor and not salty (as many lower quality versions tend to be), and the onions are sweet. One person ordered the Fall Salad, but after tasting it, found it was not to their liking. No problem! The server took it back and replaced it with a crock of the French Onion Soup. For the entrees, which were also perfectly prepared, included salmon, hanger steak and lamb chops - all delicious. We will return again!!!

We had a visitor from California and we included a visit to Marseille as it is one of our favorite restaurants in NY. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the décor makes you feel like you are in an exotic set. Thank you Marseille for another great meal.

However, our waiter was efficient, but, sour. He was negative all around. Not what I am looking for when I go out for Sunday brunch. It's too bad, because Marseilles is a very pleasant restaurant.

We walked to Marseille after our matinee. They seated us right away and as it was 7:30, the theater crowd was leaving. The waiter left us to enjoy our drinks and didn't rush us all evening. We spent an enjoyable 2 hours leisurely eating our dinner, which was delicious. Would definitely return.

I have been to Marseille on several occasions and it is an excellent place for lunch with a group: large tables and able to hear each other. The food was very good and the service timely. One one complaint is an "over attentiveness"....Several times a server attempting to take our plates away when we weren't finished eating. The restaurant was quite empty to it wasn't a question of needing the space. The servers need to observe people and see that they are still eating, or they are deep in conversation and it not time to come over and interrupt.

The calamari appetizer was fine, although mostly breading (but tasty, and hot). My wife had the sort rib "bourguignon" which was a disappointment; one rib standing in a puddle of pureed cauliflower with somewhere, a hint of the bourguignon. She wasn't happy, but blamed it on herself for not ordering the duck. I had the Tuscan chicken, which was lovely; tender, semi-boneless and flavorful. The menu isn't extensive, but there are some other dishes that, for us, are worth trying.

While the food at Marseilles was tasty when we finally got it, the service was truly lacking the night we dined there. We arrived promptly at 5:30 as we had a 7:00 curtain which we told our server as we sat down. We ordered right away; however, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our entrees, even after our server told us that "they should be out shortly." But they weren't, so we flagged down the maître d' who stormed into the kitchen. It was still another 10 minutes before we finally received them. Inhaling dinner before running to the theater was not what we had in mind. Other than an apology, we were not offered anything to compensate our long wait.

As a visitor to N.Y., I always want to go to Marseille, for the drinks, atmosphere and bistro-type food. Inventive and delicious. However, though the atmosphere was cosy and romantic, the subdued lighting was too subdued, and the four of us had a difficult time reading the menu. O.K., we should have had our cell phones with us to serve as flashlights, but we didn't. The server said nothing could be done. The wine list provided few red wine choices at a reasonable price, but we were lucky to like one we found at $49.00. I say WE found, because when we asked for help in choosing, the waiter said he would get the sommelier, who never appeared. Food was great, as usual.

For this price point, the food in this restaurant is much better than one would expect. My compliments to the chef! The menu changes regularly, but currently there is a crab salad that is outstanding, a melon salad that is also delicious, and a mind-blowing sweet corn pot au creme. The soups are home made and always delight. Fish dishes are reliably well prepared and often have combinations of ingredients that are surprisingly good together. For this level of food, the prix fixe is a real bargain. One member of our large party is diabetic and asked for sugar-free whipped cream with berries for her dessert. It was quickly prepared and brought to her with a "No problem!"

Four of us went to Marseille for Sunday brunch this weekend on the advice of a friend. From the time we walked in to the time we walked out, the experience was great. Friendly and accommodating hostesses, excellent wait staff and lovely food. The Mushroom Pain Perdu was definitely the winner, but each meal was well-prepared and delicious. And the desserts were what you would expect from a really good French-influenced restaurant - the creme brulee, and an amazing custard served with a roasted and caramelized plum were standouts. Definitely will return to Marseille again.

Love this place, I go here for brunch before I go to see a Broadway show, its also one of the only places that takes reservations for brunch (most brunch places are jerks are don't take brunch reservations) ALSO, they seated us when only two of the three members of our party was there. Again most brunch places are total jerks about this and refuse to seat you. Other than the outstanding and quick service despite the restaurants being so packed, our food was delicious. Between me and my two friends, we've had most of the items on the brunch menu and every time we love what we order. Lastly, even though the restaurant was packed, the noise level wasn't too high and they didn't seat us uncomfortably close to anyone else. Love this place!

Took my wife and her visiting best friend for dinner. Nice selection of the common Euro beers on tap (and like across the pond - they are served in the proper branded glasses). At dinner we sat in the bar area but still had a view of the dining room - looked and felt like we were in Europe. Wait staff and service was very friendly and attentive. Sampled some apps - the snails were very good here. The ladies loved the duck breast entree and I had the seafood tagine. Entrees were simply prepared and well seasoned. Recommend the "ricotta doughnuts" for dessert. Great selection of after dinner drinks as well. we will definitely return here.

I've eaten at Marseilles several times over many years before going to the theater. It's reliably good bistro fare served well in a lively atmosphere reminiscent of restaurants that I've been to in France. It has a nice wine and beer list too. The tables are well spaced so that you're not on top of each other. For me, it's always a solid choice in the theater district.

The food was mediocre at best. Was there for brunch on a saturday, it was relatively empty but got packed closer to 1pm. Did not like the calamari, eggs benedict or the omelet. Omelet tasted like it was from an egg mix, eggs benedict were on a super dry english muffin with dry piece of ham. There are much better brunch places in NYC.
