  • "Marseille is an evergreen. Solid place, food is consistently good. Nice atmosphere, nice space. Good for pre-Theater. Well located."

  • "I usually don't have lunch at Marsaille, but this Sunday's pre-theater brunch with friends was a standout. Highly recommend the Lorraine Omelet. The bar was it's usual excellent self and made a first-rate Bellini."

  • "We arrived at 12:30pm for lunch on a mid-summer Friday. This time was not so great. The food was very average. The waiter was great, but the kitchen staff slow. Overall, it was disappointing. Certainly compared to our prior visits which were fabulous."

  • "I went for restaurant week with my mom, cousin, and uncle. The food was okay: I had the veal which strangely was fried... and a bit dense. I also didn't like the way the veal and feta cheese tasted together. My mom and cousin had the salmon which they said was okay. My uncle had the chicken which I tried a piece. It was very dry."

  • "The price of the restaurant week special was a rip off and did not include coffee. Beautiful place and great service does not make a good dinner."

  • "Good Pre Theatre spot. Good variety of menu whether you want a light meal or a three course feast, Food and service were good."

  • "Our family has eaten here at different times and in different seasons. The food is always very good, wines good and reasonably priced and the cocktails excellent. A little noisy when full or less but that's life."

  • "I was there for lunch on Thursday with 2 friends. My appetizer was delicious, dessert also excellent but entree - veal - was just so so. In addition one of my friends who also had the veal found a piece of plastic in her food. The server told the manager? who checked in the kitchen and found it was a part of a spatula. When we paid the bill we were told her glass of wine would be comped. I strongly believe her whole lunch should have been comped. I will not be returning to Marseille any time soon."

  • "Marseille is one of my favorite pre-theater restaurants. Food and service are great for both lunch and dinner. I even came with a group of out of town friends and family for a special occasion and was very pleased with not only the food and service but the whole dining experience and price."

  • "The food was even better than we remembered it and it has always been good. Restaurant Week offer was for much of the menu plus all of the desserts. And of course the location is perfect for an evening on Broadway."

  • "I had the escargot and Steak Frites. Snails were kind of small. Steak was cut (sliced) unnecessarily adding nothing to the look of the plate. Another guest had the Kale Caesar which, for its price ($12 approx.), should have included more then shreds of kale. Small concerns about the service included the suggestion of only one full bodied red house wine at $17/glass, bringing a steak knife with a broken handle (how does one not notice this as one is handling the knife). Food runner brought the wrong meal to the table -it happens, I am sure.)"

  • "Food was ok-nothing really fabulous. The service was good."

  • "At $38 this may be higher than some nearby Prix Fixe but the offerings more than make up for the difference. Everything was absolutely delicious, unique and perfectly prepared. Our server was excellent. Tables are close together - especially the tables for 2 on the perimeter of the restaurant. The space is very noisy, and not recommended for a quiet, romantic dinner. Despite the noise and close quarters, we will definitely return. Turnaround for prix fixe with 8 pm reservation was about 2 hours with pre dinner cocktail."

  • "First visited Marseille the week it was written up in the Times 11 years ago. Food is still very good, but there are more tables, more people and more NOISE!"

  • "Our entire experience was incredible. The food, ambiance, and service were all impeccable. We had theater tickets, and our servers kept that in mind, and were able to satisfy all of our needs, without us ever feeling rushed. This restaurant is a gem!"

  • "Love to take visitors here to experience an authentic French Restaurant. Perfect choice before a Broadway play. Food is always wonderful and waiter's recommendations were right on."

  • "I was lucky that they were celebrating Bastille Day and had excellent specials. The duck with bitter orange sauce and polenta was crisp and tasty. The fresh berries with Chantilly sauce was a refreshing dessert and finished a well served meal beautifully."

  • "No points! Good food but very expensive. Picture in playbill of tuna carpaccio made it look amazing. Not at all like it when ordered."

  • "Marseille is my favorite restaurant! Every visit to Manhattan I'm sure to stop in for some Eggs Benedict. Best around. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!"

  • "Food was excellent, diverse french menu with Moroccan flair. Wait staff were quick with refills and checking in without being annoying. We had brunch but will come back for dinner."

  • "We enjoyed a bottle of wine with the escargot, French onion soup and veal. The veal was a bit tough, but everything else was wonderful."

  • "Have eaten here many times, and have never been disappointed."

  • "Thank you again for your wonderful service and yummy entrees. My friends from out-of-town thought dinner was a real treat, and I love bringing new people to Marseille. I wish your desserts were better -- aside from the warm chocolate cake, every dessert I've tried is not nearly as special as the rest of your menu."

  • "Great service, creative, well executed menu. Good pre-theater menu. Enjoyed the place very much."

  • "We've eaten here several times, usually combined with a Broadway show. We've always had a fine meal and like it a lot. This weekend we went with our foodie friends and they liked it too. I recommend reservations because there have been times that we couldn't get a table. i also like some of their related restaurants like Cafe D’alsace on the upper east side. Check it out and you won't be sorry."

  • "Tasty, interesting menu with many excellent choices. Esgargots was outstanding, especially toasted, crunchy breadcrumbs and garlic. Chef prepares steak just right and sauces (peppercorn and bearnaise) were fantastic. Dessert choices always great. Our favorite spot in the theatre district!"

  • "We've dined at Marseille many times but this was our first brunch. There are many choices, not just the usual omelets and French Toast. My portabella tartine was delicious. We were short on time for a 3:00 matinee. The wait staff was very helpful getting us to the theater on time."

  • "We've had several brunches here. Think of it as an affordable mid-town lite version of Balthazar, without the fruits de mer or the boulangerie next door."

  • "Great vibe. Reminds me of being in a bustling restaurant in Paris. The food is excellent. I had the ginger crusted snapper and it was delicious. The service is great except we ordered some sides and they never came. We realized they never brought them out during the middle of our meal so we never bothered telling the waiter. They should really write orders down when they take them. I don't understand why more and more waiters just try and remember everything. That was the only negative. The bar is also great. They have awesome bartenders."

  • "If you go there, you must try the tuna steak. You can't find a better restaurant for that price"

  • "We chose this restaurant because of the unique food menu...but the food really left something to be desired. They had an expansive wine list, but it was expensive. The food was expensive as well, and portion sizes were TINY. My fiance ordered a tuna steak. It was good, but it came on a bed of greens that literally looked as though they threw everything they had leftover in the kitchen on it. I wouldn't eat here again. For the price we paid for the meal, I was expecting a LOT more."

  • "I was very disappointed in the food. It came out about 5 minutes after ordering and tasted pre made and heated up / The Morrocan omelet was dry and the potatoes were not freshly made. The waffle did not taste freshly made as it was not crisp but a little soggy and, again, tasted like it was warmed up. The ice coffee was delicious and the waiter was very attentive. I felt that they were just trying to get everyone out in time for the theater."

  • "With seven tables still having customers there the staff started to stack chairs on the tables and clean the floors before 11pm. Our bill was delivered to us before we had even finished our after dinner drinks and we were never asked if we wanted another round."

  • "My family returned to this lovely restaurant again for a pre-theatre dinner after having a very good experience last year. It did not disappoint us. Each entree: trout, hanger steak, Tuscan chicken and pasta pesto was excellent. The price fixe option is very good with great choices. The server was knowledgeable about wine choices. Dont miss the creme brulee!"

  • "Food was excellent. I had the grilled tuna and she had the steak fries, both were great. Staff was very attentive and prices were reasonable. Overall a great experience."

  • "Went for Brunch. Two of us in my party ordered the Benedict. By the time we got our food, our eggs were ice cold....had to send it back, unedible, but always makes me nervous to that, for possible retaliation from kitchen staff (I've worked in restaurants..just sayin) also meant several in our party had their food and we did not. We had to ask 3 times for a refill on coffee...by the time we finally got one, what was the point? Made us sad, it really is the first time we noticed the waiters and staff seemed preoccuppied and/or hung over."

  • "For many years I have passed this restauant saying I would like to try. Finally I remembered to make a reservation when I was in the city and it was wonderful. They had classic dishes cooked with creativity. Service was excellent- you were able to sit and enjoy the atmosphere. The other diners were a mixed of New Yorker's."

  • "I dined the prix fix menu here, and the quality of the food was very good overall. Service was very good, though not very rapid. The wines are overpriced. Great spot for grabbing a quality bite before theater shows. Pricing was $38 for appetizer, entree, and dessert - quite a decent deal."
