I've been to Marrakech several times and I continue to love it. Although service can be a bit slow, it all depends on the day. Moroccan hospitality is not to be rushed. Food is always amazing and watching two belly dancers is fun. The music can be a bit loud during the dancing, but it never interrupts my dinner. I would certainly recommend this place to everyone who is looking for great food and fun.

We're been to Morocco and looked forward to the food. It was okay; my chicken tagine was better than the lamb tagine, which was mostly bone. But what will make us never go back was the over-loud, ear-splitting background music. Then when the belly dancer performed, the music was SO loud that I had to actually scream at my table mate and to the waiter to be heard. Both I and folks at the adjoining table complained. Not sure how the owners think that over-loud music adds to the dining experience. At one-third the volume, the usually enjoyable Moroccan music would have been a plus. This restaurant is only for the hard of hearing to enjoy.

I cannot fault the service, from the moment we arrived and were greeted by a gentleman in Moroccan costume, to the service at the table and the well wishes from the owner as we left. The menu does not list wine by the glass but ask for it because it is available and the wine is very good. The food was very tasty, well prepared and we did not have to wait longer than expected.

The food and decor were both awesome, and the owner served us himself. The belly dancer was a bit much. The music for her set was cranked so loud, and she was so insistently interactive with the patrons, that she gave you no choice but to set aside your dinner conversation and give her your full attention. I love belly dancing, and she is super attractive, but the intensity of the show was an unexpected mismatch for the dining-room experience.

This was our first visit to their P St. location. The food was very good, we enjoyed the individual portions as opposed to the original group portions served at the other location. Our waiter and his service was excellent and he made the whole dining experience much more fun. The music in the dining room was extremely loud in between the bellydancing sessions and should be lower so that you can have a reasonable conversation.

We really wanted to love this restaurant, but didn't. The atmosphere is nice, though not completely authentic Morrocan with its Home Depot tile on the floor. The speaker system for the belly dancing music was distorted and too loud. The food was okay, but not very flavorful. The belly dancer didn't impress, seeming more like someone trying to be a belly dancer than being the real thing. Worst was the service that left our finished plates in front of us for a full 50 minutes. We even had to skip dessert, given the service took so long. Tables on both sides of us completed their meals and left before our plates were removed. Could have been a cool evening, had they focused more on the details. Feel like we wasted $100+

I found this restaurant as it was close to where we were staying and it was, by far, a great find! The mint tea is served by a long drop pour steeping it just right! The food was excellent and I highly recommend this place. Happy to find it and next time I am in DC look forward to visiting it! The ambience with the pillow features gives you an exotic feel to compliment the food.

for the most part, the appetizers and entrees were good. dessert was not so great. we ordered baklava and it came out soggy and leathery as they most likely had heated in a microwave. the lamb tangine was great, but the chicken was too dry, but overall good. overall it satisfied my graving for Moroccan food. there was a back room that looked like reserved for private party, and the music was coming from there, but where we were sitting was pretty lame.

Some of the food offerings at Marrakech were tasty, but inattentive service, an appetizer designed to be served warm that was served cold, and the most unappetizing, bitter, uncarbonated Diet Coke that I have ever tasted made for a less than optimal meal.

Loved the decor. Staff was quite attentive and told us about the food items which were deliciously prepared. Especially enjoyed the salad tasting recommended by our waiter and posted it on my Facebook page. Our table was at the French doors so we had the feeling of outdoor dining, but we were tucked inside. Other than street noise, which wasn't too bad given the proximity to DuPont Circle, this is a restaurant in which conversation will not be drowned out.

We're always had good success with Open Table reservations. Not this time. We were told it would be a 5 wait minute, past our reservation time. Instead, we waited 30 minutes and got seated when we asked for a refund on the $20 valet charge. Then, they sat us at a 4-top(there were 2 of us) that had been open the entire time. Also.. No parking nearby and belly dancing was very amateurish.

Excellent service and ambiance, we got the restaurant week fixed menu and it was great. Very generous portion of tasty chicken couscous. The typical Moroccan soup is awesome and they serve bread with a tomato/olive oil dipping sauce that is very tasty. Only observation is that 2 drinks (beer and a glass of wine) costs as much as the food. I will definitely go back to try other interesting options of their menu

The staff at Marrakech went out of their way on a Tuesday night to ensure that our family had a special evening. We went to celebrate two family birthdays. Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable, attentive. It was normally not a night when there was a belly dancer but they made sure she was there! She was fabulous and even invited our daughters to dance. The food was very good and we felt the waiter gave excellent advice in terms of choices and portions. The staff then brought out two slices of delicious chocolate cake complete with a very impressive fire cracker-type candle. All & all, a wonderful place to go for any type of evening but especially so for a family occasion.

We found this via Open Table and decided to give it a try. The food was very good - great spices and all he dishes were well executed. We had great appetizers of hummus and baba ganoush. However, the service was lacking. We were in the back room which was perfect for our group of 6 as it was easy to converse. As more people arrived though, they turned up the music to a point where it was difficult to hear. My wife at one point had to go to the bar to get us more water as the waiter disappeared for over 20 minutes. While I appreciate not being hounded to death by wait staff, I do want them to check and make sure everyone has water, drinks, etc. we may have ordered dessert if they had come to check on us. Overall, very good for though.

This place was a lot of fun. The bartender made us delicious cocktails (I recommend the mango martini), and the meal was very tasty. The tomato/olive spread for the bread was great, and my chicken and couscous was enjoyable. My wife had a nice lamb appetizer. But the best part of the night was when I was plucked from my seat to join the belly dancer. I am usually quite shy, but when she put the hip scarf around my waist, I did moves I never knew I had!! And while my hips don't lie, I'm not going to become a belly dancer - I'll leave that to the professionals! But if you're ready for a good drink, a tasty eats and a little shake-shake to go with meal, Marrakech could be the way to go.

This was only my second time coming here. I came based on my initial experience, which was perfect. This time our waiter was unfriendly, no personality at all. I ordered the lamb couscous which had small sharp bones in it. I came close to cutting my gums from the bone and had to end up sending my meal back. I wasn't interested in looking at the menu again so I asked for a dish with chicken and potatoes. The waiter suggested chicken tangine, and all it was was chicken. No couscous no potatoes nothing but chicken. I was very disappointed in the service and my meal. I took the chicken home to end up throwing it away. So I paid $19 for an entree that wasn't worth $9. I was very discouraged and I don't think I will ever be back there again.

Hadn't been here for a while, so accepted Open Table's suggestion when Ezme had no tables at 8 PM on a Friday. "Mezed" (or "grazed") on appetizers and a side dish. Had the Morrocan soup, lamb sausage, stuffed grape leaves, and homous along with the vegetable couscouse. Enjoyed everything. Service was a bit slow, possibly because a foursome seated at a neighboring table needed lots of descriptions and explanations. The noisy table next to me and the belly dancer definitely made the noise level "energetic".

No reservations were available for 7:00 pm, so we took the 6:00 pm reservation. The restuarant was empty and when we asked, we were told that the restaurant wanted to ensure that we did not overstay. We left at 8:30 and 1/2 the restaurant was till empty. The waiter rushed us for each course, which we were happy to do -- we only stayed as long as we did to see the belly dancer perform -- who did not arrive to 8:15. We went there for an experience similar to Marrekesh on NY Ave which recently closed, but were extremely disappointed.
