Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent service and ambiance, we got the restaurant week fixed menu and it was great. Very generous portion of tasty chicken couscous. The typical Moroccan soup is awesome and they serve bread with a tomato/olive oil dipping sauce that is very tasty. Only observation is that 2 drinks (beer and a glass of wine) costs as much as the food. I will definitely go back to try other interesting options of their menu"

  • "A group of us ate at Marrakech over the weekend. Overall the food was delicious. The ambiance was relaxing, with great entertainment including two belly-dancers and a spanish guitarist. We really enjoyed our evening at Marrakech!"

  • "when a group of us showed up for lunch as advertised on open table and the restaurants website we were greated told they were not open for lunch and that it was because the health inspector was coming. i will not be returning to marrakech in the future"

  • "We got there early so we went upstairs first for happy hour. The food was really good, especially the chicken tagine. The waiter was very attentive. Later into the night the belly dancer came out. They gave us complimentary shots while we enjoyed the show. It a great night!"

  • "I have been to other restaurants that are Moroccan, and food, atmosphere and experience has been more traditional. Since I have seen that in the past, this felt just okay. Overall it is good for a one time."

  • "Having a group of friends visiting from Seattle, I wanted to introduce them to Mediterranean tasting, and I was so happy with my choice. we had a very nice dinner, savored food, great Moroccan sunny wines.....and the most....an envouting belly dancing show....the gorgeous dancer invited all the table to dance, and we had a wonderful time......the staff was so helpful specially with our allergic and kids issues......I definitely will be back."

  • "The staff at Marrakech went out of their way on a Tuesday night to ensure that our family had a special evening. We went to celebrate two family birthdays. Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable, attentive. It was normally not a night when there was a belly dancer but they made sure she was there! She was fabulous and even invited our daughters to dance. The food was very good and we felt the waiter gave excellent advice in terms of choices and portions. The staff then brought out two slices of delicious chocolate cake complete with a very impressive fire cracker-type candle. All & all, a wonderful place to go for any type of evening but especially so for a family occasion."

  • ""My husband and I metroed and then walked to p street , which is so much easier than trying to find parking. We sat on the patio . My husband got the lamb tagine and I got the veggie tagine. Several items were real stsnd outs, like the chicken pastry, the Merguez, eggplant, Their mojitos and mango were also very good, especially tea Moroccan . Our server was gracious and attentive. We left with a vow to come back!"

  • "We found this via Open Table and decided to give it a try. The food was very good - great spices and all he dishes were well executed. We had great appetizers of hummus and baba ganoush. However, the service was lacking. We were in the back room which was perfect for our group of 6 as it was easy to converse. As more people arrived though, they turned up the music to a point where it was difficult to hear. My wife at one point had to go to the bar to get us more water as the waiter disappeared for over 20 minutes. While I appreciate not being hounded to death by wait staff, I do want them to check and make sure everyone has water, drinks, etc. we may have ordered dessert if they had come to check on us. Overall, very good for though. "

  • "8:15 reservations: seated at 9:15; no recognition at entry, no bar service offered or seating for 1 hour wait. Early diners wouldn't leave because belly dancer hadn't appeared. However, Food was authentic although presented to table very randomly. Very unpleasant experience."

  • "We tried the lamb sausages for an appetizer and we're surprised at the favors. The cous-cous with lamb for an entree was fantastic as well. In addition, the 'table wine' from turkey was surprisingly delicious as well. "

  • "This place was a lot of fun. The bartender made us delicious cocktails (I recommend the mango martini), and the meal was very tasty. The tomato/olive spread for the bread was great, and my chicken and couscous was enjoyable. My wife had a nice lamb appetizer. But the best part of the night was when I was plucked from my seat to join the belly dancer. I am usually quite shy, but when she put the hip scarf around my waist, I did moves I never knew I had!! And while my hips don't lie, I'm not going to become a belly dancer - I'll leave that to the professionals! But if you're ready for a good drink, a tasty eats and a little shake-shake to go with meal, Marrakech could be the way to go. "

  • "This was only my second time coming here. I came based on my initial experience, which was perfect. This time our waiter was unfriendly, no personality at all. I ordered the lamb couscous which had small sharp bones in it. I came close to cutting my gums from the bone and had to end up sending my meal back. I wasn't interested in looking at the menu again so I asked for a dish with chicken and potatoes. The waiter suggested chicken tangine, and all it was was chicken. No couscous no potatoes nothing but chicken. I was very disappointed in the service and my meal. I took the chicken home to end up throwing it away. So I paid $19 for an entree that wasn't worth $9. I was very discouraged and I don't think I will ever be back there again."

  • "The original restaurant used to have private rooms. Separate spaces for each group. A big dancers show. This one has nothing to do with the one at new york ave. Is a regural restaurant with Moroccan food. And one girl dances for a while. "

  • "Hadn't been here for a while, so accepted Open Table's suggestion when Ezme had no tables at 8 PM on a Friday. "Mezed" (or "grazed") on appetizers and a side dish. Had the Morrocan soup, lamb sausage, stuffed grape leaves, and homous along with the vegetable couscouse. Enjoyed everything. Service was a bit slow, possibly because a foursome seated at a neighboring table needed lots of descriptions and explanations. The noisy table next to me and the belly dancer definitely made the noise level "energetic"."

  • "My husband and I were excited to visit this place. We like Moroccan food and ambiance, thus the choice of restaurant. He got the Tangine Lamb and liked it; my chicken Tangine was too salty and nothing special. The babaganoush and tabbouleh were were nice. The noise level in the restaurant was quite high even though we were in the quiet room. The server was very nice in the beginning but then forgot about us..."

  • "This restaurant is fabulous! Seriously, the moment you enter, you feel like you are stepping into Morocco. The decor inside is absolutely gorgeous and the ambience is lovely. Also, the owner is very friendly and the service is excellent. I can't say enough about this place! The portions are very generous! I ordered chicken couscous and it was delicious. If you want to experience traditional Moroccan dining, you should try this restaurant. You will be very pleased!"

  • "No reservations were available for 7:00 pm, so we took the 6:00 pm reservation. The restuarant was empty and when we asked, we were told that the restaurant wanted to ensure that we did not overstay. We left at 8:30 and 1/2 the restaurant was till empty. The waiter rushed us for each course, which we were happy to do -- we only stayed as long as we did to see the belly dancer perform -- who did not arrive to 8:15. We went there for an experience similar to Marrekesh on NY Ave which recently closed, but were extremely disappointed."

  • "We used to go to Marrakech when it was on NEw York Ave all the time and the food was amazing. Had not been there in awhile since we have kids and was excited to go back. They moved locations. Was worries when I saw they changed their menu a little. The food was definitely not of the same caliber. Some items did tase the same but the chicken, lamb and Bastille which were all to die for before where just mediocre now. The chicken was even dry. Match that with horrible service and we were very disappointed. Luckily we were with good friends so had a great night. Will probably not be going back."

  • "A colleague and I were in DC and staying close to Marrakech, the staff at my hotel highly recommended it, so we gave it a try. Staff were very accommodating and made our meal a real adventure. The food was great and well proportioned. They even threw in a dessert on the house! Just a great experience..."

  • "Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Overall, we all liked the restaurant. The food was pretty good and we enjoyed the ambiance. The major complaint was the service, or lack thereof. Our waiter(s) didn't check in on us regularly for drink refills or to see if we needed anything. Despite that, I might return again if I'm in the mood for Moroccan food."

  • "I came here on a busy Saturday night around 730. The restaurant was packed, yet we were still given great service. Although a bit slow, it was well worth it all. The food was fresh and hot, the chicken and lamb couscous was delicious and presented on a authentic Moroccan plate. Luckily, we were able to catch two beautiful belly dancers one at 8 and another at 9. I will definitely come back for an entertaining, great dinner."

  • "While Moroccan dining can be expected to take longer than regular cuisines, the service at Marrakesh was incredibly slow and irritating. Despite having a reservation, it took nearly 20 minutes to get us seated and another 20 minutes just to get menus. The drinks came about 30 minutes after we were seated and after us having to ask for them three times. The final straw was when it took nearly 20 minutes just to get our check at the end of the meal. The belly dancer was OK - she performed for about 10 minutes and did nothing particularly noteworthy. On the plus side, the main course was excellent and the decor of the restaurant was fantastic!"

  • "This is my third time to Marrakech with a group of coworkers and food is always flavorful and service keeps getting better. The host is very welcoming and makes you feel at home and makes sure you are having the fullest Moroccan experience. Although nothing like the other Marrakesh on NY ave, this is nothing to turn down or compare. It has it's own flavor and flare and beautiful belly dancers will entertain you during dinner. My guests and I were not disappointed with the changes."

  • "I used to live in Morocco and wanted to introduce a friend to the food. We chose this lovely little neighborhood spot and weren't disappointed. Mohammed was adorable and attentive. The owner came through to check on us and we spoke French all night. The lamb tagine, the chicken Bastilla and, surprisingly, the Malbec bottle were all really good. Will definitely go back."

  • "We made reservations for 7:30 and as of 8 pm had still not been seated. many other people were waiting at the entry with no host appearing for about 10 minutes. Things seemed very disorganized and the restaurant overwhelmed. We left without being seated and let the host/owner know and he just said "okay" no apology and appeared indifferent to the fact that people were leaving."
