Diner Reviews
  • "I was hesitant about returning to the Marque Lounge because my prior dinning experience there a few years ago had been less than stellar. But I was glad I gave them another chance. Food was hot and delicious. Wait staff was very attentive and The mural behind the bar is a real conversation piece. Big plus outside, I was able to see the BUS sculpture up close and personal."

  • "Beyond noisey...could not hear or hold any kind of conversation over volume. Was looking forward to unique food samples created by a real chef. They were out of one third of there already limited menu. Seriously, how can a resturaunt run out of mac and cheese. I ended up with a plate of burnt fries $8 and a luke warm kaluha and coffee $9. I'd like to know who considers "fries" a lite fare? It is a side or appetizer at best. The resturaunt had atmosphere and potential, just sadly fell short of expectations."

  • "We did a Mother's Day brunch for a group of 10 family members & were surprised to find it relatively empty. They had a great jazz guitarist providing background music. Co-located with Creative Alliance space, it felt wood warm and welcoming with wonderful bold colored murals surrounding the bar area. The menu was limited but very fresh and appealingly presented. I had the corned beef hash with 2 perfectly poached eggs, and my husband enjoyed his pork belly BLT. The downside of the menu was a dearth of options for the vegan and vegan/gluten-free folks in our party. However, the curried vegatables were a hit, together with the bottomless margaritas and bloody Marys & a small but well-chosen microbrew selection. We definitely plan to return!"

  • "Great little restaurant with a lounge feel. Nice, small menu. Unique cocktails. Service was friendly and polite. Food was well prepared and portion size was ample."

  • "nice neighborhood place, although they ran out of their burger option, which is pretty ridiculous. small menu with no burger doesn't leave much to choose from when you go there hankering for a burger."

  • "My girlfriends and I recently had dinner at the Marquee Lounge before our show at The Creative Alliance. This was my 2nd time dining at the Marquee Lounge and it was just as wonderful as the 1st time! The food is superb. The regular menu was different from the first time, with some really interesting choices. Since it was St. Patty's Day weekend, there was also an "Irish" menu with several traditional offerings. We ordered the Shepherds Pie, Irish Stew, and Duck Salad. Everyone at the table raved about the quality of the food. The wait staff was friendly, and the gorgeous mural above the bar gave the place a decidedly artsy feel. I would recommend this dining experience to anyone, whether before a show or as a stand-alone event!"

  • "won't be going back there soon. Appetizer Salad $12 over the top expensive and lumpy heavy mashed potatoes with a 3oz piece of rockfish is not an entree for $28.... :-("

  • "patterson theater / crearive alliance is a good place to view local talent , the marquee lounge is part of the theater and a great place to get a bite or drink while enjoying the local art and music"

  • "We ate here before going to a concert/tribute to Nina Simone at the Creative Alliance, because they share the building. It was perfect. Dinner reservations at 6:30pm was ideal, and we had plenty of time to have drinks, dinner, and we were first in line when the theatre doors opened! Great food, and ambiance. To say nothing of the great time we had at the concert. We'll definitely be going back. "Neighborhood Gem" is probably an understatement. :)"

  • "I guess it was because it was valentines day that they had an over priced pre fixed meal. Don't come on those days. The food is worth much less than they charge but this restuarant is a gem in the heart of highland."

  • "Good food at reasonable prices with friendly service, that is the definition of a neighborhood gem."

  • "We wanted to go to dinner before seeing a show at the Creative Alliance and were thrilled with the experience. Although the tomato soup was just OK, the rest of our meal was delicious. We shared a few small plates and the mushroom pancakes were amazing! We will definitely be back next time we see a show."

  • "We had great foo and service before a great show with Caleb Stine and friends last week! It's a nice spot to grab a bite before a reative Alliance show or event! We'll be bck!"

  • "This restaurant is attached to the Patterson Creative Alliance which is a wonderful venue to see local artists perform. My wife and I are vegetarians and we had several options to choose from. We chose a mushroom patty and autumn salad with the house red wine. We were both very please with our selections and the staff made sure that we were on time for our evening show."

  • "We had a reservation for dinner after the first of two Beatles shows at the Creative Alliance on Saturday night. It's a fairly limited menu to begin with, but when we were seated we were told two main courses were sold out. When our waiter came, we were told two more menu items were sold out. The featured cocktail I ordered was not available because they were out of one of the ingredients. Ultimately, we both ordered root vegetable salad and steamed mussels -- because they were available. Both were good, fairly small portions. I realized the kitchen must have been overwhelmed by the crowd from the Beatles show, but we had reservations (and I assume others did, too) so they could have been better prepared."

  • "My husband and I tried the noodle bowl. It was completely bland, nearly flavorless. We also ordered the hummus, which was also favorless. We had asked for the hummus as a starter, but our server brought it and one entree out at the same time. We ate the hummus slowly as we waited for my entree and my husband's was getting cold. The server kept asking to clear the plates! When my noodle bowl came out, it was half full. My husband's was overflowing. I thought it was strange that the portions were so different. The place has a nice design, but the food and service were lacking."

  • "The food was fabulous and the prices were so refreshingly reasonable, we were really blown away by our dining experience on Saturday night!!! The Carrot Ginger Soup was wonderful and the Autumn Salad was divine!! The scallop small plate was just right and my husband enjoyed the charcuterie and the shrimp and grits!! We will be back!!!!"

  • "A nice way to cap off (or start off) your visit to Highlandtown Arts and Entertainment District: Have a great meal, see a lively performance, visit a new exhibit opening!"

  • "Small Menu, Small Restaurant, Good Food, Good Service Have been there 3 times and always enjoy the food, service and scene. Scallops were a little salty this last visit but that is the only complaint we have had since going there."

  • "Located in the historic Patterson Theater, this is a perfect spot to meet before a show. It's great to see this part of Baltimore become a new destination for the arts, dining, and getting together. The portions are on the small side - which I prefer. It's easy to mix and share the eclectic fare. All very fresh, with a focus on local offerings. I liked the local ciders and beer selection. Our waitstaff and especially our concierge were very accommodating (helping us with rescheduling our time table). They even went out of their way and delivered flowers backstage, to our favorite performer. Gracious service."

  • "The Marquee Lounge does not disappoint. Having had dinner there on five different occasions, the quality of the food has been consistently high and quite reasonable. Combinations are often inventive and delicious; e.g., pan seared scallops on a grilled sticky rice square with kimchi and a beet puree sauce. When we have had the soup of the day it's been sublime."

  • "We arrived early for a 6 pm reservation, but they seated us anyway. Nice! But it's happy hour. Uh oh. Can't hear anything because it's so loud with drop price drinkers. Ok. Fine. They finally cleared out around 7 pm when the drink prices popped back up. Dinner was a Cuban sandwich with fries and a grilled cheese with coleslaw. Nothing too challenging for Chef, but presented with elan and a short lecture on Chef's commitment to Locally Sourced Foods. Fries: too much time in the deep fry and too much Old Bay dumped on them. Inconsistent fills on the wine. But ok place. After happy hour, anyway."

  • "it's hard to say you wouldn't recommend a place when the service & ambience are stellar. my french toast came from some doughy white bread most of us remember from grade school. but the syrup & blueberries were real albeit in small servings. iced tea & water always refilled before we thought to ask. we've been for drinks & small plates before & will return for that. but brunch was limited & a bit overpriced. still great room & people."

  • "Went to enjoy the farm-to-table experience noted in all the Marquee reviews. Pity everything we asked for from the menu was greeted with "we're outta that"... including the bottle of wine we ordered. Too bad the experience had to be such a disappointment."

  • "How wonderful to go to see one of the great events at the Creative Alliance and to be able to have a nice dinner before. Parking can be difficult but it really helps to be able to park first and go to the Marquee Lounge for a very good dinner in a handsome room. Then you are right there for an art show and an event in the theater. What a great date night in Baltimore! The Marquee menu is always interesting and inventive with both full meals and lighter dishes. I had the soft shell crab with cheesy grits! Delicious! My only complaint is that if you order ice tea only one refill. Not done in most restaurants. Charge a little more but more refills. Otherwise, no complaints and enjoyed this very special restaurant."

  • "Terrific entrée of softshell crab. More variety of entrees would be welcome, if the kitchen can handle that."
