  • Public Transit: Bus Station is located only two blocks from the center of San Juan where Marmalade is located
  • Parking: Public Lot
  • Parking Details: Three secured parking garages are located only one block south of the restaurant on Calle Recinto Sur . Street parking is also available in Old San Juan. Valet Parking is not available in Old San Juan due to regulation.

  • "This dining experience was truly unique - from the atmosphere to the food it was all one of a kind. The 4,5, or 6 course ordering options are definitely the way to go. I chose to have 4 plates and felt that I'd had enough to eat. It was very pricey but worth it if you want to splurge on a great evening."

  • "Nice restaurant in charming Old San Juan. Ambience and service were stellar. We did the chef tasting menu and the pasta appetizer and white bean soup were incredible!!!!!!! One of the best soups I have EVER had. The entree (sea bass) was mediocre (my husband had the organic chicken which was good but not great). The ice cream special that night was some sort of vanilla with brandy and truffle oil (it was NOT the well known millionaire's ice cream that is on the regular menu). Anyway, ice cream and truffle oil tastes like a basketball player's feet with cologne sprayed on them (I would imagine, I don't have any ACTUAL experience with this....) Still a cool place with great service. Will go back and try different entrees and desserts!!"

  • "My boyfriend & I went all out, each ordering the 5 course meal. We had the tiny white bean soup, ceviche, popcorn shrimp, lobster risotto, gnocci, & the black truffle pappardelle for appetizers. Everything was insanely good, w/ the exception of the lobster risotto which I found to be only ok; however, my bf loved it. For my main, I chose the monkfish & my bf chose the salmon special. I really enjoyed the monkfish but I didn't care for the salmon. To me, it lacked any salmon flavor. My bf said he really liked it. For dessert, we got the special blueberry crisp w/ boozy ice cream & the carrot cake. The ice cream had an overwhelming booze flavor but the crisp itself was lovely. We didn't try the carrot cake until the next am - not our taste."

The food was fantastic, the server was beyond knowledgeable and helpful and would recommend to anyone going down to PR to not miss Marmalade."

  • "One of the best restaurants on this island! The tiny white bean soup is delicious, a must have! My mouth starts to water just thinking about it! The sea bass is also wonderful. We have tasted most of the appetizers and they are all very good. The Chef/owner comes to the table to see how your experience is, which is such a nice personal touch. I visit the island a few times a year and we must always come here! The decorations and restaurant set up is absolutely beautiful!! You must try this restautant, you will be glad you did!"

  • "It was very pleasant to discover the refined tasting menu at Marmalade after few meals in Puerto Rico- a true "fried food" Mecca. The service was friendly and attentive from the table strewed with rose petals ( we were celebrating an anniversary) to the explanations given with every dish to the stop by the chef to chat. The bean soup is a delight ( it is their signature dish and the recipe is offered spontaneously). The beef tenderloin and sea bass entrees were both fork tender."

  • "The restaurant is small but quiet. The service was excellent. I don't know what all the high ratings are about. They use local ingredients and spend time describing each entree which is nice. However, some of the dishes were way over-spiced and we actually sent 2 dishes back because of that. They were gracious and replaced them with another dish of our choosing. It looked like the owner wearing a chef outfit came around to each table. That was a nice touch but it felt like he was just going through the motions. I would not go back nor recommend. Marmalade is nice but really more hype than anything else. Save yourself a lot of money and eat somewhere else."

  • "I chose Marmalade to celebrate my birthday with a group of girlfriends and it was a really nice restuarant. Perfect ambience for a sexy evening in Puerto Rico, which is what I was seeking. The food was amazing. I did have the tasting menu and it's pricey, but worth it. Especially for a special occasion. I'm not used to dropping over a hundred bucks on just myself for dinner, but you only live once! We requested that the chef come out when he had a moment to meet me and he actually did come over to our table and talked for a moment, took pictures with me and a few of my friends and of course I bragged on everything I'd eaten. Peter was very nice and he's a master when it comes to food. Glad we came and would love to come again."

  • "Our second time at marmalade was even better than the first. We ordered the 4 course tasting and both had the Jimmy Hendrix to drink (a must try). Apps: both had ceviche, delicious. Intermediate: I had the gnocchi with short ribs- delicious and she had black pepper pappardelle which was also delicious. The chef knew we were repeat customers and sent out the awesome white bean soup for us. Entrees: I had the pork cheeks which is delicious and she had the sea bass which she said was some ofbthe best she has had. Waiter then sent out two dessert drinks (frangelica) before our desserts. We both ordered the bread pudding which we took home with us because we were stuffed. The 4 course is plenty. We will be back for sure."

  • "Thank you Open Table for guiding us to Marmalade! We celebrated our first anniversary there with a three hour dining experience. We had the five course with wine paring. Everything was truly amazing, including the secluded table adorned with rose petals. We have dined in many great restaurants around the world, and we both agree this experience surpasses all of them."

  • "Everything we ate was phenomenal. We did the 4 course tasting and each course was outstanding. The snapper ceviche with tostones was delicious, as was the Maine lobster risotto and the "popcorn" shrimp. The food was creative - the popcorn shrimp was grilled shrimp on ancho flavored popcorn. One of the people in our group has numerous food allergies and she could eat off of the menu due to the large selection of gluten and dairy-free foods, and the entire page of vegan foods. So, this restaurant is good for everyone. The wait staff are extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu and the chef walks around the restaurant and talks to everyone so is very available. This restaurant alone is worth a trip to San Juan."

The chef, Peter, met with us personally and specifcally picked our wine pairings and seemingly endless courses of some of the best food ever tasted! It was an absolutely epic dinner lasting several hours that we will never forget. The food, wine and service are all 5 star. I will fly in to eat at Marmelade many times in the futre. Absolutely amazing."

  • "This restaurant looked fabulous for vegetarians and I was excited to go. What a disappointment! The food was presented beautifully but that's where it ended. Both my dining partner and I found our meals to be bland and not at all exciting. The server was overly (annoyingly so) enthusiastic in her descriptions of the menu. What was most alarming was the bill. We were way overcharged. When we brought it to her attention there was no apology. She brought us a new tab, but when we got back and checked our accounts we were both still overcharged on our cards. We called and there was again, little apology. We later received an email inviting us back for a free drink and tapas but had zero desire to go back! Beware! It seemed like a scam!"

  • "Kudos to Chef Peter Schintler for making a last minute trip with my wife to San Juan just that much more perfect. Not only is the food as creative as you would expect from a four-star chef, but Schintler's ability to craft a traditional menu that is largely gluten free, and also a vegetarian one that is extremely alkaline, is just a wonder. I could go on and on about the delectable smoked Pork Cheeks that my wife devoured and the extensive wine list which was paired perfectly to the plates... But, for folks who are paying attention, Chef Schintler (who spends time visiting every table) is incredibly knowledgeable about the work of some pioneers in the field of alkaline eating and has made vegetarian food sexy and delicious for us."

  • "I went for the six servings with wine pairings. The first 4 servings gave me a great opportunity to try different things on the starters menu. Portion sizes were very reasonable. The fifth serving was the main dish. Tasty. The sixth serving was dessert (out of this world). All servings came with a well paired glass of wine. If you are in town, I highly recommend this place. Interior design is also different."

  • "Words can't describe how amazing this place. From the moment you walk in there is an energy to the place. We were immediately greeted and shown to our seat. Our waiter was amazing. He went over everything thoroughly and checked on us at all times. He was funny and kind. Now the food.... OMG!!!!! It is out of this world. We ordered the YellowTail Poke and spaghetti squash to start. SO GOOD!!! Then the lamb, which melted in your mouth. Loved their specialty drinks. The owner/chef also made his rounds to all the tables. He wanted to make sure that all the customers were happy and if they needed anything else. I wish I lived in Puerto Rico, so I could go back every weekend to eat at Marmalade. You MUST try this place."

  • "We ate here in March and were back in San Juan on business and decided to see if they could pull off an encore……yes they could. Extremely creative and the wine pairings were on the mark..and stretched our knowledge. We have eaten at places like The French Laundry and other Michelin starred restaurants. Marmalade is every bit as good. But you MUST have the prix fixed menu with the wine pairings for each dish. You the choice of each course form the full menu…and each individual choice has its own wine pairing. And don't overlook the vegetarian page….the ancient grain vegan gnocchi was to…die..for! I will be back in PR in November and will return. This is a destination restaurant."

  • "This place was really terrific. The food was great. Chef Peater came to our table to greet us. It is clear he is an expert and has a true passion for food and wine. The staff was amazing, but the bartender was incredibly rude... My bilingual husband spoke Spanish to him (as we were in PR) and he barked back that he didn't speak Spanish in the most unwelcoming of ways. We were ready to leave, but the hostess was sweet and sat us immediately. I'm so very glad we stayed. The food & the crest of the staff were amazing!!"

  • "Jonathan was a very attentive server, had wonderful suggestions and my husband and I enjoyed a five course meal with wine pairings. I thought the serving sizes were generous for five courses. The pork cheek was so tender, the kale salad was refreshing. We even sat at a comfortable little booth, just the two of us for our big honeymoon dinner. It was a once in a lifetime experience! "
