I have brought so many friends and co-workers to this restaurant through the years, and all rave about the food, service, and ambiance at the end of the meal. 100 %! However, I'm always nervous when I bring first-time patrons, because I build the experience up so much, I fear someone might be disappointed. Once again, my guests left the restaurant saying it was incredible in every category! This oasis never disappoints! You simply must go to see for yourself! Five stars!!!

The decor is here almost over-the-top: banquettes for 2 with a heap of pillows and a table top strewn with rose petals, dramatic lighting and bar. The "urban hipster" coconut cocktail was a bit grainy but had good flavor. They do a good job on menu standards like ceviche, beet salad, and beef tenderloin, although my favorite dish was the "popcorn shrimp" appetizer: large grilled shrimp on top of spicy popcorn and guacamole. I wish there had been a lot more of the bean soup with truffle oil that served as an amuse bouche (ask for the recipe). The rabbit ragu was also very good, notwithstanding some small bone fragments in the dish; when I mentioned them to the waiter, the dish disappeared from our bill with no questions asked. We finished up with a delicious dessert of chocolate crumbs on chocolate mousse. This place lived up the its hype.

My husband and I ate here recently on a Sunday night during our trip to Old San Juan. I knew it would be pricey, which I am fine with because a great meal also has entertainment value for me. Marmalade certainly lived up to my expectations. I chose the four-course tasting menu and my husband decided for a la carte. I love how the menu is set up with wine suggestions for each course, making the tasting menu fun and easy to create to suit your palate. The range of dishes was impressive and all were exceptional in taste and presentation. The decor of the restaurant is also lovely. Although the food was stellar, I have to say the service and attention to detail set this meal apart from others. Our waiter, Eric, was incredibly attentive and friendly without ever being intrusive. If I even started to glance in his direction, he was there immediately. The chef came out as well to meet us and other diners, which was a welcome surprise. I enjoyed the wines that accompanied each dish, impressed that the pinot noir actually came in a pinot glass. Impressed that while I had my second course, Eric brought a small plate of food for my husband to enjoy so he didn't have to sit and watch me eat. Don't expect huge portions, its not that kind of a restaurant. And if you are looking for a buffet, you are way off the mark. This is an elegant place where food and service are a bit of an art form. Enjoy it for what it is. We did!

Ceviche - fresh and well-seasoned, tostones can be a little more crispy Popcorn Shrimp - perfectly cooked and spiced shrimp!! popcorn flavour was complicated and different White Bean Soup - really tasty! Heirloom Golden Beets - fresh/refreshing Roasted Codfish - delicious, we ordered bread because the broth got a little salty on it's own and the bread soaked up the broth so well Sea Bass - fantastic dish! For any fish lover, must get! Service was great, the server was attentive and very nice.

Service great, food amazing, eclectic environment. One person in our party didn't order an appetizer so they brought out an amuse bouche for her. The beet dish and tomatoe apps were beautiful, super fresh, and delicious with layers of flavors. The portions were larger than I expected. Our party enjoyed the sea bass, tenderloin and parpadella, all excellent! We even got a taste of the white bean soup which was also a nice blend of flavors. The place is lively but quiet enough for easy conversations. Definitely would return.. Had great chat with chef too!!

An amazing dining experience from everyone perspective! Get the wine paring and let them decide which courses to serve! The white bean soup will never believe forgotten a,ice cream and bread pudding desserts were perfect, pappardelle pasta was just right as a main course but is also available as an appetizer. We had plenty to eat with four courses plus ordered shrimp appetizer to share. Wines were exceptional with every course!

I had heard about Marmalade but hadn't had a chance to go until last weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday. I must say I'll definitely be going back again. The ambiance strikes a balance between avant garde and cozy, the modern and the homely. The staff is very friendly, knowledgable and willing to make you have an excellent time while you're there. This place isn't exactly kid-friendly yet the staff made it a point to accomodate us and our five-year-old and make us feel comfortable. The tasting menu is excellent and definitely the reason to come to Marmalade. Everything from the lobster risotto to the tenderloin medallions was extraordinarily delicious and well presented. The wine pairings? Even better! In all, they get an A+ from myself and my family. Thanks for the experience!

We celebrated our 32 second anniversary in Old Sand Juan and were looking for the special place to celebrate. After doing some research we decided on Marmalade and were very happy we did. This is a top notch restaurant is every aspect, great food, impeccable service and ambiance. We had the four course dinner which could also include a wine paring. One of the courses induced the white bean truffle soup, which was one of the best soups I ever had; from start to finish just a tremendous dinning experience. I highly recommend Marmalade as it was not only the best meal we had while in San Juan, it was one of the best in recent memory. Note that it can get a pricy particularly if you go with the paring, but it is well worth it

If you are in San Juan, you absolutely MUST visit Marmalade. Peter Schindler is setting the new standard of excellence for creative cuisine not just in Puerto Rico, but for all of the U.S. His thoughtful combinations, using local products whenever possible, are nothing short of amazing! I tried the rabbit dish; something that I would never think to prepare or order; and it was fantastic. I highly recommend the tasting menu, along with the wine pairings, which also introduced us to some fabulous wines that I might never have tried otherwise. Expensive but totally worth it.

We had an early reservation for what we envisioned as a special, unique place to celebrate my daughter's 32nd birthday in Puerto Rico. Marmalade did not disappoint. It was nice to have the option of tasting menus and ala carte...we chose the 4 piece tasting menu with different options for the two of us. The food was amazing; the service was efficient and great; we had the most marvelous time. BTW on one of our tours, we found three other couples that raved about Marmalade's food and service. The white bean soup and the ceviche were AMAZING!

My husband and I dined at Marmalade to celebrate my birthday while visiting Puerto Rico. Everything about our dining experience was top notch. The service, the ambiance, and most of all the food. Our waiter was exceptional. We each selected the 4 course dinner, with wine pairings. We were told that if we didn't like our food or wine pairing 100% to let the waiter know immediately and an alternative would be brought out. They changed two wine pairings for my husband (both sweeter than he drinks) and they changed out my final entree course. The chef came out himself, made a recommendation and delivered it to our table to ensure the quality and satisfaction. This was just a fantastic dining experience.

Amazing tasting courses; creative, indulgent, with many layers of flavor in all dishes. My wife and I both had the five course menu which was a lot of food. Wth the exception of the white bean soup (a must have), we chose different dishes so we could both taste nine different dishes. Great service as well. Next time we will probably pass on the wine pairing and buy a bottle that we both like. Excellent experience, highly recommended.

My husband and I got recommendations from multiple friends to hit Marmalade while in SJ. We are frequent foodies, and love trying hot spots. We found the service to be excellent here, the food good, not great, and the pricing about 30% higher than it should be. Knowing retail and typical wine mark-ups on bottles, Marmalade needs to take it down a notch. We liked our food, but it did not nearly make our Top 10 list. My tenderloin was overcooked (asked for medium, got well done), and all the other courses tasted fine but there was nothing that stood out as notable.

Restores my faith in high end food / tasting menus / dequstation. Four of us dined here. Two of us ordered a six course tasting menu, and the other two ordered the four course menu. We were each able to individualize our choices. All told, we tried at least 12 different dishes, and every one was fantastic. Our server and assistant server were knowledgeable and passionate about the menu and about food in general. We will return here on our next trip to Puerto Rico!

Not ideal if you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican food. Although it was nice and the white bean soup is a must try, it wasn't what I was expecting for being rated #1 in San Juan.

We had an outstanding meal at Marmalade recently. Jonathan was our waiter, he was professional and helpful. We started with the global warming cocktail, which was delicious and unique. We selected the 5 course fixed prix option. The white bean black truffle soup, the house specialty, and the lobster risotto were excellent. My husband loved the gnocchi. My halibut entrée did not live up to the great flavor of the other dishes but my husband really enjoyed the pork cheeks. The crème brulee and bread pudding desserts were incredible. We loved the atmosphere, modern yet intimate, and appreciated that we were not rushed. The price was reasonable, service impeccable, food outstanding. We would highly recommend Marmalade!

The tasting was wonderful. We loved that you can make your own choices. We got to try dishes we'd never had before. It was cool to meet Chef Peter who was super kind. We left stuffed :) Impressive overall! Can't wait to go back :)
