  • "Marmalade was a very good restaurant: the food was delicious and was served in a timely manner. The chef stopped by our table to see how we were enjoying our restaurant experience."

  • "I had a wonderful dinner experience! The food, wine and ambience was amazing. I want to thank Craig our waiter for his suggestions."

  • "Had a 9:30 reservation while on vacation & didn't get seated until close to 10:00 (after asking multiple times about status of the table which was vacant since we arrived). Bartender was no where to be found for 15 min while we waited - we were able to get 1single drink ordered when he returned before we were seated. I think based on waiting to get our table alone, our opinions were all a bit soured. Food was good - bit over priced for the amount and overall quality but we liked everything. I think if you're in San Juan for a special occasion then this might be a cool place for a night out to celebrate. Otherwise, I might say skip it and stick to some delicious local grub. better than the chain places at the resorts for sure!"

  • "My wife and I spent our wedding anniversary at Marmalade - such a beautiful, romantic restaurant in Old san Juan with terrific food to match the lovely ambiance. The tasting menu is great - you can choose your dishes with the exception of their signature white bean soup. We had the five course tasting menu with various dishes such as 'popcorn" shrimp, a generous portion of foie gras, yellowtail poke, black truffle parpadelle, and beef tenderloin. Every dish was delicious and expertly prepared. The chef came out to explain some dishes and the waitstaff was gracious, even sprinkling our table with flower petals after we said it was our anniversary. A very memorable evening and a definite dining destination in San Juan."

  • "There's a reason this restaurant is in the top few (if not the top) restaurant in San Juan on various review sites. It absolutely lived up to the high expectations all the other reviews set. For our 5th wedding anniversary, they sat us at a romantic two-person couch filled with rose petals and candles. We decided on the six course tasting menu, and were ecstatic that they let each of us choose six courses each, so we were able to enjoy twelve different items from their menu. Most items were mind blowing, and all were exceptional. I hate the term "foodie", but this place is a foodie dream, and I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Be ready to spend some money, it isn't cheap, but is worth it. The wine & service were great too."

  • "We heard about Marmalade and our experience exceeded our expectations. It's an expensive meal to be sure - but worth it. I would caution that the by-the-glass wine prices are unusually high though there are a few reasonable selections if you don't want to spring for a bottle - which can be pricey as well. The food was amazing and for those with gluten or dairy restrictions there are numerous choices. Our server Craig was fantastic and gave us some great recommendations. We went with a five-course tasting menu - popcorn shrimp and the tuna poke was excellent. The second course was the white bean soup was phenomenal as was the short rib gnocci and the quinoa gnooci. Highly recommend the sea bass and the halibut cheeks."

  • "Found on Trip Advisor and it's all everyone said and more. The bean soup is absolutely fantastic. This is a foodie must do in San Juan."

  • "i don't like most of the food, but wine and cocktails are really good!!! desserts are fine! I'll say order some drinks, an entree, and then desserts!"

  • "This is the fourth or fifth time my husband and I have flown from Atlanta to spend a day or two in PR and eat at Marmalades. The food is excellent, the atmosphere very upbeat, the staff is excellent and Chef Peter and his wife make it a point to visit every table. I will highly recommend this to everyone. A must eat at in Old San Juan."

  • "This was a total surprise and a great experience if you enjoy food and wine ! I am still thinking of their special white bean soup and spaghetti squash and lamb dish… The chefs signature dish recipe is printed on a postcard and you get it to go ;)!"

  • "Special dining experience in old San Juan. Outstanding, varied food with careful attention without being overbearing or pretentious. The chef took a turn around the restaurant and took the time to chat with us. All together it made for a special experience for my wife and daughter (and me) who were accompanying me on my business trip to Puerto Rico. Braised beef and gnocchi."

  • "Good food, not really a "tasting menu" as you just pick items off the menu yourself. Highlights were the white bean soup and beef cheeks and halibut. Paella was slightly burnt and very salty and truffle pasta was pretty oily but everything else we tried was great. Pineapple mojitos were small but very refreshing. The only off-putting part was that there is an optional 20% service fee that our waiter added to our group of 4. Although this is usually the rate I would tip at, I thought this was really presumptuous and left me feeling dissatisfied and like they didn't trust us to tip appropriately. They would do better to make this mandatory for larger groups instead of sometimes adding it. Really an unfortunate way to end the experience."

  • "Every morsel of the fine food delivered to us was OMG DELICIOUS! We have been eating our way around this wonderful island and Marmalade is truly one of the best! So run! Don't walk there and experience this fine restaurant. They will not let you be disappointed."

  • "Tasting menu has many fantastic choices. Owner/chef Peter is usually around to discuss the menu and approach to food preparation. #1 choice if you are in San Juan"

  • "We were celebrating my husband's birthday and it was certainly special. From the rose petals on the table to the informative waiter and stupendous tasting menu. Highly recommend this for those seeking an unbelievable gourmet food experience. Don't pass up their signature soup....its a must have."

  • "This was my second visit to Marmalade- I travel frequently to San Juan for work and this was only the second time we were able to get reservations. The service is impeccable and the food is wonderful- my personal favorite is the lobster risotto. My travel companion, who is a very picky eater, also greatly enjoyed his meal."

  • "This restaurant is worth the cost and the difficulty in getting a reservation. From the moment we walked in we felt we were going to be taken on a food journey that we would enjoy immensely. The ambiance was soft and cool yet vibrant. The waiter was friendly, knowledgable and seemed to enjoy his job. The chef came out to talk to us about the menu and made us want to eat every dish on the menu. We went for the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Every bite was delicious. Treat yourself. It's worth it!!"

  • "I often eat a great meal, but then can't even remember what I ate. The food at Marmalade is so creative, unique and DELICIOUS, I will never forget the cauliflower and quinoa/poblano dishes I ordered. I am not vegetarian, but these dishes are, and wow were they good! Before tasting them I asked if they had any hot sauces. The chef made me his own creation then brought it out to see if it was to my liking- I ate it like a third dish! They recommend you order 3 to 5 courses, but 2 were sufficient for our group. I wish we ordered more just to sample more of the creations. The service was great and the atmosphere was really cool. If I return to San Juan, this will be on the top of my dining list."

  • "We are foodies and this was the biggest disappointment .took 4 hours start to finish. beet chiggio salad- NO FLAVOR! sent back the veggie salad- only good dessert was the chocolate tripleta.strawberries- no flavor, chamomile sorbet awful. snapper- unmemorable. Sea bass was good not great. spaghetti squash was ok. the popcorn shrimp was wonderful. the pallea was so blah, did nothing for me. bathrooms need refurbishing. restaurant decor was great. under my chair it had a funky pee smell that ruined my meal, i had to change seats with someone in my party. chef Peter is very talented but needs to taste the dishes that come out of the kitchen because it truly did not hold a candle to restaurant pikayo or 1919 which were fabulous meals."

  • "Marmalade did not disappoint. My wife and I celebrated out 26th ann. here and returned from Chicago for our 30th, it is that amazing. People say "you can never go back". Usually this is true as a return visit to a great memory often fails to live up to the former experience. Marmalade took it to the next level. The food was incredible (do the tasting menu and give Peter creative license). The service was phenomenal and EXACTLY the same as Craig was our server again. Who remembers their server from 4 years ago? We do because he was fantastic then, and even better now. Speaks well of a restaurant to keep great people that long. In my OpenTable res. I asked for a nice table for our ann. and were given the royal treatment! A must experience!"

  • "Probably the best overall dining experience I've had in 20+ years. The service was excellent and attentive to every detail. The food was fresh and full of flavor, but none overwhelmingly so. The wine pairings were by far the best I've seen anywhere recently. The Chef came and spoke with us as well as half the other diners. I could go on and on but simply said, make a reservation and enjoy this dining experience if you have the chance. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Excellent foodie restaurant in beautiful old San Juan . Tasting menu was excellent especially for the inexpensive set price . Great value for money . Wine list was decent but overpriced for a lot of the standard favorite fares . Cocktail menu was interesting but really missed the mark in terms of the actual drinks being drinkable. Service was great . Dinning room was pretty and not loud . We had a group of 7. Nice round tables and it s till felt intimate"

  • "What an amazing experience we had at Marmalade! Because every menu item description is more tantalizing than the next, we went with the five course tasting menu and wine accompaniment. I thought that would give us a good selection without feeling like we missed out on something. The service, ambience and attention to detail are all top notch. This is truly artistry in a culinary form, and we delighted in every course selection. Thank you so much for making our last night in OSJ a memorable one. We will highly recommend Marmalade!"

  • "Without question this is the best restaurant in San Juan. Brilliant and inventive food served in a choice of 4, 5 or 6 courses with wine pairings available. Signature baby white bean soup is velvety smooth, seared foie gras is sublime, yellowtail poke is a marvel, lamb tagine four ways is astonishing and desserts are equally fantastic. We were very lucky to be able to dine there twice on a short visit and would be temped to return to San Juan just to eat at Marmalade again."

  • "We did the 5 course tasting menu and the accompanying wine pairings and it could not have been better. Craig, our server, was fantastic and the pacing of the meal was perfect. We had made reservations through Open Table and had verbally requasted table 24, a cozy 2-person table off to the side. The love seat where we were seated had a million comfy pillows on it and the ambiance was perfect for the special romantic meal we had hoped for. And the food? To die for! We cannot wait for our next trip to San Juan so we can return to Marmalade!"

  • "Chef/owner and wife was very friendly and was seen most of the evening with their customers. A fabulous restaurant, probably the best in San Juan which is supported by all of the other reviews/ratings. Highly recommended and be sure to allocate plenty of time so you can fully enjoy the evening."

  • "As a vegetarian there were few high end restaurants in PR. This one was exceptional. Fun and hip ambiance. Great menu both veg and non-veg. Creative drink menu. Lovely help. One of the best meals of our trip."

  • "We definitely enjoyed Marmalade. It was my sons - 13 & 14 and myself with a 6:15pm reservation - we left around 9pm. We did the vegetarian 4 course tasting menu. Each of us were able to create our own tasting experience and we also shared. The fact they catered to vegans - the spicy dessert cake - was awesome!"

  • "This was my second time at Marmalade. I had been previously with my husband and returned this time with a group of work colleagues. The restaurant was extremely accommodating when I needed to change the reservation from 4 to 6 people at the last minute. The tasting menu was great and we all enjoyed the food and wine immensely. The chef/owner even came out to talk to us and walk us through the wine list. Overall, great experience and highly recommend for a night out in San Juan. Great place to celebrate a special occasion or treat yourself while on vacation."

  • "Eclectic decor was nice. Servers really know their stuff. Each dish was explained in detail. Portions were small and on the pricey side for portion size. High quality ingredients presented artfully. However, two notable things missing. An artisan bread program would be a needed addition. No bread at all is offered. Also, the dessert menu was small and boring. They need a pastry chef. Cocktails were good but very over priced, even for this place. Would not go back. Have had better meals at these prices many other places."
