very comfortable yet well done service. waitress very helpful- things done efficiently. friendly service5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic as usual! It's always a treat we I get to Marlowe for lunch.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial requestI ended up being 15 minutes late to this reservation but they graciously still sat my guest who was on time, instead of making him wait until I had arrived.
Even after I called to tell them I was running late I called again to request that a desert with a birthday be brought out for my date as a surprise which she did perfectly on cue after our meal.
We also had a great booth seat and the service was always present never hovering.
I love this place!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter and BetterWe recently ate at Marlowe again, and it was better than ever. The place was packed due to the Giants game that night. We got a great corner table and had a terrific experience. What charmed us most this time was the salads. The salad chef had constructed them to perfection. The little gems salad had an avodado-something inside each little leaf, and the dressing did not overwhelm. My husband's beet salad had shaved beets of many hues, each bite delicate and playing off each other. Usually Marlowe is about the meat--this time the salads shined!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful Wednesday Evening! Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. Great wine and food suggestions.
The restaurant is tiny, so you will need a reservation. Atmosphere is energetic.
Food was delicious - we split the crab cake to start, Scallops with bacon wrapped asparagus for dinner with a side of brown butter brussel sprouts, and vanilla panna-cotta for desert. All were excellent! Wine was also good!
Can't wait to go back to try more items on the menu!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. We hadFood was excellent. We had the Poulet Vert and polenta with mushrooms after starting with the crispy, lemony Brussels sprouts chips. Everything was beautiful with so much flavor! Great wine, excellent service. A wonderful Sunday night dinner that we'd go back to any night.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty non"froofie" anniversary mealWe were having an anniversary dinner and didn't want anything too "froofie". Marlowe was a great find! The portions were great, the food was beautiful and very tasty, and the wait staff was attentive without hovering. We had the Brussels sprouts chips, which had great lemon flavor but I think it was too much for the two of us to eat - they quickly became overwhelming. Better for sharing with a larger group. The deviled eggs were fantastic, the Little Gem salad was beautiful and fresh. I had the pork chop and it was dynamite! Large enough portion that I took half of it home for a tasty lunch the next day. Hubby had the beef fillet and he was happy. Too stuffed for dessert! We will try to return in the future. Industrial but friendly ambiance4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious!!!Delicious!!!!!!!! And not overpriced, attentive service. Everything on the menu is mouth seeing. No exaggeration.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad we arrived early (11:30)Glad we arrived early (11:30) for lunch. The noise level was pretty high by the time we left. Great food. Solid service.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the best hamburger inStill the best hamburger in SF. Dessert's not too shabby either. I had the upside down strawberry crisp. It's a bit early for fresh strawberries -- they're not yet as flavorful as they will be in a few months. However, the brown butter caramel sauce made up for their lack of sweetness and the housemade bourbon ice cream was to die for!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall very nice. ScallopsOverall very nice. Scallops were excellent, steak was cooked well and flavourful. Fries were just ok. Portions were reasonable, not overdone. They had a problem with their oven that night so chicken was not available. Only complaint is that it's small and tables are close together, leading to a fair level of noise, but food and service didn't disappoint.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific times hereNot only is the food consistently excellent, they seat you promptly with Open Table connections. The devil led eggs and pistachios make the first wines and the list of choices by the glass are numerous. And equally enjoyable is that after a great meal experience, you can always get a cab quickly by walking across the street to the CalTrans station.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a wonderful placeThis is a wonderful place to eat. Creative chef and excellent quality. I will eat here everytime I am in San Francisco.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm now convinced that youI'm now convinced that you can't get a bad meal in SF anymore. Marlowe steps it up!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNot exceptional food. DeviledNot exceptional food. Deviled egg was amazing, wouldn't order the scallop dish again. Small scallops and served with olive tompanad which was somewhat gross together3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch was greatHad a nice time celebrating my friend's birthday. The server was attentive.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to Marlowe a fewI've been to Marlowe a few times but the Roasted Bone Marrow this time was very good.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAs always their soup is great. As always their soup is great.
