This was during the last week of dine about town. I had reservations at other restaurants, but cancelled them for the awesomeness that is MARLOWE. The staff was amazing & went above and beyond to make the night special for my girlfriend. We did have a 10-15min wait paste our reservation time because the people at our table were taking their time, not marlowe's fault. The waitress gave us a free app when we sat down as an apology. Not needed but that was very nice of them. They put a candle in her desert towards the end of the night as well. The only thing I've never really liked about the spot was the space, its very cramped especially if you're at the community table. I had the fried chicken sandwich and my friend had the burger. We both got salad but the waitress asked if we had eaten here before and since we said no she brought me half salad and half fries just so I could try them. She offered to bring me more salad too but I was more than happy to have the fries with the horseradish dipping sauce. We also enjoy a drink special that was called "Bartenders Mistress"-- it was a special mimosa and it was awesome. Our waitress was a perfect combo of helpful but not overbearing. Her service really put the experience over the top! The place can get crazy packed (and loud) but the very friendly service goes a long way. Food is consistently good including the famous burger. I had scallops which were very good. Two of the people had polenta very large serving of that old say that dish was fair and chicken dish good but spicy. Deviled eggs and Brussel sprout apps were great. Even after I called to tell them I was running late I called again to request that a desert with a birthday be brought out for my date as a surprise which she did perfectly on cue after our meal.
We also had a great booth seat and the service was always present never hovering.
I love this place!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter and BetterWe recently ate at Marlowe again, and it was better than ever. The place was packed due to the Giants game that night. We got a great corner table and had a terrific experience. What charmed us most this time was the salads. The salad chef had constructed them to perfection. The little gems salad had an avodado-something inside each little leaf, and the dressing did not overwhelm. My husband's beet salad had shaved beets of many hues, each bite delicate and playing off each other. The restaurant is tiny, so you will need a reservation. Atmosphere is energetic.
Food was delicious - we split the crab cake to start, Scallops with bacon wrapped asparagus for dinner with a side of brown butter brussel sprouts, and vanilla panna-cotta for desert. All were excellent! Wine was also good!

Marlowe was a great find! The portions were great, the food was beautiful and very tasty, and the wait staff was attentive without hovering. We had the Brussels sprouts chips, which had great lemon flavor but I think it was too much for the two of us to eat - they quickly became overwhelming. Better for sharing with a larger group. The deviled eggs were fantastic, the Little Gem salad was beautiful and fresh. I had the pork chop and it was dynamite! Large enough portion that I took half of it home for a tasty lunch the next day. Hubby had the beef fillet and he was happy. Too stuffed for dessert! We will try to return in the future. The devil led eggs and pistachios make the first wines and the list of choices by the glass are numerous.
