  • "My wife ordered a Medium filet and got a medium well. I ordered a medium rare filet and received a medium. Too bad, because both pieces of meat seemed to be prime cuts! I also found all of the alchohol prices a little steep."

  • "Always a great place for a special occasion. We were there for our anniversary. Steaks are always amazing, sides perfectly prepared. This visit was a little off - steak that was overcooked, but happily taken back and a new one ready in minutes. I asked for no butter and the steak was plated on a slather of butter, but they quickly removed and brought back a steaming hot plate. So while it wasn't perfect, they were helpful and anxious to make things right. Certainly wouldn't keep us from dining there again for future celebrations. It's expensive, so it's not a weekly place for us to dine."

  • "Good is good and service is fine. We have eaten at Mark's a number of times and food is consistent. The location is nice as it is close to the theatre. However the current management team is made up of an uppity young man who has no idea how to treat grown ups who may be repeat customers. He is condesending and arrogant which is particularly off putting as he is a restaurant manager and not a neurosurgeon or rocket scientist. A little more grace and kindness when you walk in the door would go a long way to improving the experience. The wait staff are great. It's just too bad they have to over come such a bad first impression."

  • "Our service was was very poor, we decided to leave due to the poor sevice. After being served our salads we waited 25-30 for our entrees while other patrons who came after us recieved their. Its was only after going to the matre d asking why it was taking so long was the only time movement occurred on our order. Still the server no other staff came to us with an explanation for the delay in getting our entrees, that when we decided to leave. "

  • "We went there for a late graduation dinner.....as the restaurant was not busy and it was late, our server spent most of his time cleaning and prepping for the end of the shift....the food was not served hot.....a staple at marks is there 400 degree plates......ours were barely warm...the sides were not served hot either....not sure if our order sat for a while before it was brought out but....it certainly looked and tasted that way....normally we would have complained and sent the food back....but we had a large party, it was late and everyone was tired....server never asked if we enjoyed everything or about our overall experience."

  • "We took my mother in law to Mark's Prime for the first time this weekend and had a great time. The service was impeccable, food was fantastic. She said that was the best steak she has ever had in her whole life (she is 80, loves steak - so that is an awesome compliment from her. So many times when dining in gainesville, either the service is poor or food not great. Mark's never disappoints! If you haven't been, you need to go soon."

  • "1 year anniversary dinner at Mark's. Made reservation and we were immediately escorted to our choice of booth or table. Appetizer was excellent, best steak I ever had and my wife loved the twin lobster tails. The Cheesecake was incredible. Service was outstanding and our drinks were never empty. Overall best dining experience we have ever had."

  • "We drive 50 miles to dine at Mark's, yes it's that good. There a nice steakhouses closer but we prefer Mark's for our special occasions. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mark's for the third time. The food and service is consistent and excellent. We had the lobster escargot (succulent chunks of lobster) and crab cakes, salads, filet, desserts, and a bottle of Jordan Cabernet. A perfect meal."

  • "We would love to enjoy a nice dinner but we don't drink achool. The last two times we came here the service is slow and soso. They took so long to bring our food out and once we got our food the waiter didn't check on us for so long. Our dirty plates sat in front of us once we where done for 15 minutes. When they brought out our appetizers right then our server came to take our order, so how are we soposed to enjoy our appetizers."

  • "On a Friday night I was delighted that I used reservations first. It was my first visit and I was excited to see that the staff was so attentive. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The table was very nice. I didn't think we would be sitting next to a small group that was loud and having to listen to their awkward conversation. It would have been nice to sit next to another couple. Otherwise the food was excellent, I have Celiac Disease and they were very accommodating."

  • "I got a reccomendation from my nephew who is a UF student and he was right the food is delicious. There is no value here.. It's an expensive meal where everything is a la carte but the steaks were perfectly cooked and the sides (twice baked potato and bacon sautéed large Brussels sprouts) were delicious. The service was great.. From the time we sat down four people descended upon the table and set down water, menus, bread etc and immediately asked about drinks. This is not a place for your avg college student on a budget.. It's the place a parent visiting takes the students for a great meal. The resteraunt is located in a fun, thriving downtown area where there are many bars and restaurants if you want to stroll after dinner."

  • "I loved Mark's when I was in college and have always wanted to bring him here. I am sad to say I was definitely let down. We had to ask for steak knives and we went without water for a course. I noted on our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday but it wasn't noticed by anyone who helped us throughout the night. The food was very good. The tomato mozzarella salad was a little disappointing and I'd definitely skip that next time. The filets were great as was the loaded potato and the creamed spinach was the best, anywhere. For $200 between two people, I expected a lot more from the service aspect. Our dirty dishes were left behind, we ran out of water, we weren't checked on frequently, etc., etc."

  • "Was very surprised to find that Mark's had a limited prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day. I did not know that when I made the reservation. Prior to that evening, I had gone through the menu on Open Table and selected the items i wanted to order, so I was very disappointed to find that most of the items I selected were not available on the limited menu. Going to Mark's is a special treat for us. We don't go to expensive restaurants very often, so not being able to order what we wanted, but still facing the very large check, well . . . The food we had was well prepared and very good. The service was also very good. We have no complaints about what we were served other than it is not what we wanted to order."

  • "I can always count on Mark's to make any occasion perfect and Valentine's Day dinner was no exception. From the delicious wine list to the escargot appetizer, wedge salad, bread, mashed potatoes, cauliflower au gratin to the beautifully perfect petite filet and mouth watering lobster tail, it was all perfect! We had to take our dessert to go because we were so full but it was great as well. It was $135 for both of us for all the food and well worth it. The atmosphere and food were second to none. They are the only place in town that knows how to cook a perfect filet every time. Still my favorite restaurant in town!!! Scott is our waiter and he is awesome! If you go in, ask for him. He makes that extra effort to ensure your night is perfect!"

The sides are so huge, it's best to order one and share. We had one huge twice-baked potato between us, and we still took some home. Same story with the braised baby asparagus. Pricey, but worth it."

The happy hour specials are also great, and with me, always leading me into dinner ! Drinks are well poured, servers are courteous and attentive ! We will always come back. My husband in fact bought a gift card for 100.00 to assure a return soon for a special occasion. Dine at Marks..They are consistent and great !"
