MarketHouseFood is always great. ServiceFood is always great. Service varies. This time we were lucky to get great service as well.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMarketHouse was relaxed, withMarketHouse was relaxed, with excellent service for dinner on Father's Day. We want the recipe for the sweet potato and pecan bread that started the meal! This was not a quick bread, but a yeast based bread with undertones of spice along with the sweet potato flavor. The mushroom soup combined so many flavors with spices and truffle oil that delighted us. My Meyer Lemon and Wild Ramp Risotto was tasty, although the grilled shrimp added to the dish seemed a bit plain compared to the flavorful mixture of creamy risotto and cooked vegetables. The lemon flavor was understated. The rotisserie chicken was also delicious with its sweet and spicy glaze. Overall, we would return to try other items.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative and flavorful menuFirst, I met my friends at MarketHouse at 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday, and we chatted for about 45 minutes before ordering. The server was attentive throughout the time yet never made us feel rushed to order. The food was delicious, well-prepared and attractively presented. My friends both had the chicken pot pie, which was tasty, though one of them wished it had been a bit more food. I had the grilled whole rainbow trout accompanied by flavorful wild rice with raisins and a tasty sauce on the side for the fish. The trout was completely deboned and cooked to perfection, the skin being slightly crispy, and a broth on the plate that enhanced the flavor of the fish. I left the choice of wine to the server and was very pleased with it.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat dining experienceAmerican style food with a high-end twist. A real treat for a nice night out.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is great, but serviceFood is great, but service not really, so the overall experience varies. This time it was good.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice hotel restaurantThe food was very good and the prices for the main course reasonable. However, there were so many side charges that they jacked up the bill way over $50 per person, with the coupon. I was not expecting to spend that much. There is no atmosphere at all other than the tables by windows and watching people passing by. I think the restaurant needs something to bring it to life. If you only want to eat and you are nearby. The bread pudding was too soft and doughy and the pound cake was way too dry and had a spice taste, which was not what we expected. The surprise and free birthday warm chocolate dessert was very good, according to my friend.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food in an Unassuming PlaceThe food was great - atmosphere-wise, you definitely feel like you're eating in a nice hotel restaurant, but who cares?? The Food!!! The food. The food. The food! The food was great - the ribs were perfect, the Mac+Cheese was out of this world....I'm running out of adjectives - go there, eat, you'll like it!!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA gemUnexpected location. For two, share an outstanding burger (not sure where to find a better one), (half a rack of) delicious smoked ribs, soup, a fresh chopped salad, and a pint (or two) each of Bell's draft ale. Fine decor except for bare windows that would look better at a pizzeria.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent front houseThere was a mistake on the reservation. By me. The host took care of it immediately. One of the best Prime Ribs I have ever eaten.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFinally a complete meal....We were in town for a food convention, you would think people would be giving great suggestions So after having a good pizza,a pricey pasta with no distinct flavor, and an over priced Flinstone size steak Finally... we came across Markethouse because it was in walking distance of the hotel. The feel was perfect as we entered. Homey but classic, a clean feel, with herbs in the window and rich colors in the decor. The service was great, we didn't want for anything. He didn't offer suggestions but was happy to answer any questions. The meal was full of flavor. Each dish was beautifully displayed but approachable to eat. And we made it to dessert. The prices were perfect, not inflated at all5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful home-cookingThe menu is full of comfort foods. Daughter had the vegetable pot pie and said it was one of the best pot pies she's ever had. Son had the full rack of ribs which came on a plate almost two feet long. Smoked barbecue flavor, and fall off the bone meat, with fries, coleslaw and full ear of corn-on-the-cob. Probably could have fed the family. I had the 12 oz sirloin with red-wine onion jam, asparagus, potato puree and pearlized onions. So much flavor. Thank goodness you can walk in Chicago, because you'll need to burn some calories after a meal here. Saw a hamburger go by to another table that must have been 6-8 inches high. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for flavorful home-style cooking.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOur seserver, Jose, providedOur seserver, Jose, provided great service and we loved their butterscotch bread pudding.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely fresh food, locally-sourcedLovely fresh food, locally-sourced and beautifully presented.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Service and reasonablyExcellent Service and reasonably priced. Very surprising for a reataurant attached to a Hotel.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMService was a little off.Service was a little off. I think they were a bit understaffed. The food however was fantastic. I had the chicken pot pie and my husband had an incredibly fresh salad with great ingredients. Great sitting at the bar. We will probably go back and eat at the bar. Very good! Highly recommend it.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I have dinedMy husband and I have dined here before. We love the butternut squash soup (with cherries) and their salads especially (chop and wedge). This time we tried their burger. It was colossal. We both took half of the burger and the delicious French fries home with us. They were delicious again after being warmed up. They also have excellent desserts. And their hostess is exceptional. She is very friendly and welcoming. All in all, we had a wonderful dining experience here again.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA PERFECT 10My fiance and I had a Restaurant.com coupon for Markethouse. I had never heard of it but looked at the menu online and thought it would be great to try. The menu is VERY diverse a DELICIOUS!!! I would go back in a HEARTBEAT. The decor is country but updated and the staff is very nice. I can't rave more about the food. Being that they support local farmers makes it even better. All organic and fresh and delicious!! A definite A+.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent restaurant withAn excellent restaurant with local sourced items. The Food was very good, but it did seem to take a little long to get the food. We had a very nice time, the wait staff were very nice. Early reservations were good as the tables and bar were full when we left. We will go back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I had a wonderfulMy husband and I had a wonderful evening out at MarketHouse. Our waiter was Jose and he was very attentive throughout our entire dining experience. Regarding the food, we were most impressed with the butternut squash soup (so delicious) and the salads. Both the cob salad and wedge salad were absolutely outstanding. We enjoyed our dining experience tremendously and cannot wait to go back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery tasty food (the scallopsVery tasty food (the scallops are amazing and we loved the cheddar beer soup and lemon beignets).
