  • "We have been to Markethouse on several occasions. This was the first time since they had changed chefs and menus (which was probably 9-12 months ago). The menu is more limited than at most restaurants, with probably a dozen entrees. We invited friends to join us (their first trip there) and all were pleased with their choices. The food was delicious, the service good."

  • "I was looking forward to our dinner at Market House. I'd eaten lunch there severlal times and always enjoyed it. Our dinner began with some flavorless hummus. Then came the main entree--we both ordered fish, with wild rice on the side. it was passable but nothing exceptional. Like the appetizer, the main dish had little flavor. The restaurant redeemed itself a bit with a lemon cake dessert ala mode. The bill was higher than we normally pay. I much appreciated the low volume noise iin the restaurant, which added to the quality of the evening. But in general, I felt let down by this dining experience."

  • "My family and I came here last year for Thanksgiving, and we were so impressed with the service and food that we decided to come back again this year for Thanksgiving! Our reservation was at 5:15, and we were seated promptly when we arrived. It took 15 minutes for our server to greet us at our table. We placed our order (4 Thanksgiving dinner specials!) and it came out relatively quickly. Although the food presentation was nice, my food was barely lukewarm. However, I was not able to voice my concerns because our server never came back to the table to check in with us - he literally disappeared until we had to go hunting him down for our check. The food overall was good, but I was very disappointed by the customer service."

My family of four enjoyed an excellent Thanksgiving dinner that was traditional, with evidence of Market House's signature flair. The food and presentation were both outstanding. The service we received from Juan was friendly but professional. The decor and ambiance of Market House is true to their stated mission. All four of us agree, we will select Market House again."

  • "We booked Thanksgiving here for 4 persons, had never been here before Everyone was welcoming, the ambience was fine, and the foor very good! There was an option for the one person that does not like turkey, but for the turkey lovers, everyone was happy. Everything was tasty, and the pumpkin bread pudding was to die for! We will probably be back, maybe make this a Thanksgiving tradition"

  • "This was the second time my wife and I ate at the MarketHouse. We discovered the restaurant three years ago when we were in Chicago for a visit, and we enjoyed that experience so much that we made sure we went again when business brought us back to the city. We both enjoyed our meal, but it wasn't as special as we remembered. The food was uneven -- excellent salads; the Mac and Cheese was to die for but the pot pie wasn't; and the chocolate desert was pedestrian -- as was the service, which was good to begin with but close to unacceptable by the end. We would still recommend the restaurant highly to anyone visiting Chicago, but order the more expensive entrees and be prepared to pay extra for just about everything, including bread."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience at Markethouse. We love their salads: both the chop salad and wedge salad. They are delicious and taste so fresh. We both had the MarketHouse burger and thoroughly enjoyed them. And we had to make room for the Butterscotch Bread Pudding dessert. It is really hard to pass up desserts at MarketHouse. Our waiter, Jose, was excellent. All in all, we had a lovely evening and are anxious to return."

Upon giving my order of the battered shrimp dinner to our server- he remarked that the shrimp dinner only contained 3 shrimp and was more of an appetizer option. Disappointed & yet perplexed, I wondered why it was even offered as a "dinner" selection. My sister ordered the fish dinner that had a salad on the side. The salad was already pre-tossed with an overly salty salad dressing. Overall not a horrible experience, but nothing about it makes me want to go back for more. Sadly, a very forgettable experience."

  • "We were out for dinner on a Saturday and choose this restaurant for their "farm to table" approach. We had a reservation, but could get a table without. It was busy, but not crowed. We got a table in the middle and our server Juan was outstanding. Very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu was small (what I like, because everything is more likely to be fresh made) and the portions good and not too big. They had a good kid's menu (made from scratch chicken nuggets, no junk!). The food was fresh and delicious and there was enough time to eat "peacefully" - so no rush between the courses and presenting the check while still eating. Our overall experience war really good. We can recommend the place and will go back!"

  • "We chose Markethouse for a meal on the first night of our trip to Chicago - and we were not disappointed. We started off with a drink in the bar which, although quiet, had a lovely feel to it. Our table was in a small curtained off area, and we were the only people in it. (although there were other diners in the main part of the restaurant) The service throughout was good and the food was excellent. I had the biggest rack of ribs I'd ever seen !. (The downside was that it left no room for a dessert !) We would thoroughly recommend it as a place to eat typical American food (with typical American size portions !)"

Wine list was very limited I was quite disappointed and even the food menu was lacking, I do understand the rationale Of a smaller menu for higher quality food yet I felt this didn't have enough to suit all tastes. My husband got the chopped short rib burger ,I got the pot pie and both exceeded our expectations ! finished with mini butterscotch bread pudding ( may I add I had to get it since 20% goes to Ronald McDonald house ;) this was also wonderfully done...For wine or great craft beers you may want to head across street to Timothy O Tools ( not sure of spelling) their list in never ending the bar tenders are personal and it's ALOT bigger than it looks so check it out!"

  • "I had to plan a last minute birthday dinner for 10 people and Market House was great for us. I got a reservation pretty easily and they even let me bring in a cake and they took care of preparing it with candles and bringing it out to the table. The food was excellent, a wide variety of tasty dishes. The service was great and they let us all do seperate checks at the end. Very pleased with my visit."

  • "I found the restaurant on a list of good restaurants near Navy Pier. I liked that it wasn't as busy as the Navy Pier restaurants, since we're not huge fans of big crowds and loud restaurants. Service was prompt and helpful, and the food was absolutely delicious. And I really like that the food is from local sources and responsibly grown. The prices were less than I was expecting for the quality of food provided. I really enjoyed our dinner here, and I hope to visit again sometime in the future, possibly after the menu has changed for the seasons to get a bit of variety."

  • "The space is in the DoubleTree Hotel and they still have booths and it seems like they cheaped out on overhauling the decor. It's not as bad as it could be, but it doesn't scream high end. But the food was AMAZEBALLS! Delicious. Worth it!"
