Diner Reviews
  • "Who doesn't like eggs Benedict? And they're the focus of their Sunday brunch menu. Splurge and add crab or lobster. And the juice tastes fresh squeezed (did the waiter tell me that and I didn't pay attention?). Anyway, the juice is delicious as well."

  • "Had a good business luncheon here. Not too noisy at lunchtime midweek. Parking was easy. Staff was attentive and flexible. Menu was reasonably priced ($10-20) with good variety and many specials."

  • "This was my second visit to the Market Street Grill. Both experiences were exceptional. The Early Bird special was not only reasonable in price but exceptional for three courses. Your salmon, prime rib and clam chowder soup were exquisite. Antonio, our server, was also very knowledgeable and courteous."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner and our server Gus was outstanding. He was always one step ahead of us. Made the evening enjoyable. The key lime pie is worth every calorie!"

  • "We stopped here on our way to see Blue Man Group at the U. Since we arrived early, I tried the early bird special of Halibut fish & chips. It was just okay, nothing to write home about. The salad that came was over dressed and dripping in oil, the halibut was greasy and lacked real flavor. The tartar sauce was very dill, where as I prefer the tangy tartar sauce. My husband had one of the crabfest specials - crab cake on top of a stuffed halibut filet. Now his Halibut had great flavor and was seasoned well. He started his meal with some oysters that he said were fresh and delicious. He would love to go back. I will go back but will try something other than the early bird special! Our server didn't seem to have much of a personality."

  • "We like Market Street Grill. But not on a crowded night when we have children with us who find it hard to wait for over an hour to be served. It felt like the kitchen was understaffed and the waiter kept apologizing for us having to wait. But we did wait. Our reservation was for 7:30. We were seated at 7:50. Our order wasn't taken until 8:30. Our food arrived at 9:10. The kids were crying. One of our party vowed never to return. I was left wondering if some employees hadn't showed up for work that evening."

  • "Our service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress had an attitude from the minute we sat down. She opened one bottle of wine for su and that was it, and never came back to fill glasses or open another. We did it ourselves. She checked on our table maybe 3 times in a matter of 2.5 hours. We will not go back to this restaurant because of her. Food was not great."

  • "The staff know their menu and their drinks. On this occasion I gave server two options I was struggling deciding between so I allowed her and the chef to pick for me. The Crab Cakes were splendid! A rare hidden gem that is not on the menu is their Strawberry Shortcake! Oh my yummy!!! Worth every of delicious fresh strawberries, perfect cake layers, freshly made sauce and the perfect dolp of homemade whipped cream! Mmmm yes, big enough to share to with another but trust me you want this all to yourself!!"

  • "As good as it gets in Utah. Filet was perfectly cooked and flavored. Crab was deliciousness. Shrimp great and their desserts were very tasty. Great meal! Spent about $50 each."

  • "Food was well prepared. Noise levels way too loud for a nice dinner before the symphony. Table too small to hold all the dishes and glasses. Host/Wait Staff very good, attentive"

  • "We have eaten at Market Street Grill for over thirty years and it is always a great choice. The fesh sea food is as good as it gets for an inland city."

  • "Made a reservation for 6:30 because we had to be somewhere at 8:00. Didn't get seated until 7:00 and was late to our show. What's the point of a reservation? People walked in and were seated as quickly as we were."

  • "All of our food was awesome, and it made for a perfect 23rd birthday dinner. There was a large table to our left that was REALLY loud, but it was ok. Our server was awesome, the food was amazing and it was a fun environment to spend a date night!"

  • "I long for the good old days of Market Street Grill and I keep going back hoping it will be as good as it used to be. We waited over 30 minutes for a table, that's with a reservation. we waited for another 30 minutes for our order to be taken. Once the food started coming it went smooth but it was not their best night. We were celebrating my father's 78th birthday and it was not the evening i wanted it to be."

  • "Only complaint is that it took 40 minutes past reservation time to get seated"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary at MSG and the food was AMAZING!!! The atmosphere was noisy and not romantic at all, but the food and service did a great job of making up for most of it."

  • "Market Street Grill used to be one of my favorites. It's been a while, and either it, or I, have changed. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and we told we would be seated closer to our reservation time(?!) So, ok. 25 minutes and several (later) walk ins seated ahead of us later, I asked when we could be expected To be seated. They had obviously forgotten us and scrambled to clear a table. The place was packed, so the server did as well as we could ask. However, my husband's food was too cool, and the sauce on my fish was coagulated. We won't be returning anytime soon."

  • "The food was great! Restaurant was busy and took over 45 minutes to be seated even with a reservation. I'm not sure if they were short handed that night but our waitress visited our table 3-4 times, we had empty classes and took to long to get our check."

  • "Made reservation for 815 and didn't get seated until 915. Then we were told they were out of bread and had nothing yo substitute it for. Wasn't the best expierence."

  • "Decent food, decent service. Price is too high for the quality of food, but still not a bad place for a date."

  • "first impressions were poor-tables were open but we had to wait for 30minutes-they did serve coffee while we waited [no sugar, no spoon, no napkins however]- our waitress was given too many tables so the service was slow, and if you needed anything you had to ask for it three times before it came-food was fair but over priced"

  • "My reservation was for 8:30 and I still didn't get in until 9:30. I have been going to Market Street for over 30 years. In fact, I was an employee for a period of time. I was so disappointed by this experience and the host and hostess were terrible in how they handled missing my reservation by an hour."

  • "The only thing we would like to see change is your early bird special and go back to ther Halibut / Prime Rib special . The all around service was excellent !! Thanks for making my Valentines superb ."

  • "I truly enjoy Market Streets fresh seafood and their service is always outstanding! When I travel to cities famous for their fresh fish and seafood I always compare them to Market Street and the Market Street food and experience beats all of them. This was the first time I've used Open Table to obtain a reservation and my experience was beyond words. Upon arrival (even though we were 10 minutes early) we were properly greeted and seated. I will definitely use Open Table again and again. Thank You."

  • "Had made a reservation two weeks in advance for Valentines Day. Food was great, had the seared Ahi and oysters. Service was very good. I had expected it to be a bit more romantic but not that kind of restaurant. We had a corner table by the kitchen, had to scoot my chair over to sit next to my wife. But great place but look elsewhere if you want a quiet candlelit romantic dinner. We plan to go back."

  • "The food was really good. But the service was terrible. The server rushed through our order and didn't even ask if we would like a drink. When she finally brought our salad an chowder 30 min later i asked for a coke. When our meal came another 30 min later i finally got my drink. She never came back except to bring the check. I would expect much better service from a high end restaurant."

  • "Market Street used to be a place for great seafood. Went here for the crab feat where I overpaid and was under delivered. King crab legs, although good, we're over steamed to where the shells were soft and squishy. At $39 for each leg I was under impressed. The clam chowder neglected to have more than a hint of an actual clam in it but it did taste good. a case of hype going to their heads and prices."

  • "I was at another location of the Market Street Grill a few months ago and it was excellent. So I had high hopes for this dinner. However, my filet mignon was burned on the outside and rare on the inside - I had ordered medium. I sent it back and asked them to cook it a bit more and when it came back it was like leather on one half, decent on the other half. Still burned on the outside. I cut the outside burned parts off and ate the rest because I was starving. I've heard good things about them, so I may try them again, but this time was not a good experience."

  • "The last time that I had been to the Market Street Grill was in 2002 for one of the first dates with my wife. It was the perfect "fancy" restaurant for making a great impression, without being too over-the-top or exclusive. We live far enough away that we haven't had a chance to make it back until now. It was a lot of fun because it brought back a lot of memories from when we were dating. I used to live in Boston, and the Market Street Grill reminds me of many of the best seafood restaurants that you would find there. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. The ambience was perfect. the atmosphere was open and exciting while still maintaining a sense of relaxed privacy at the table."

  • "The service was great and prompt. They got pretty busy as the evening progressed. The food was no different than red lobster but the prices were a bit higher. Good experience but the food doesn't quite merit the price."

  • "I took my husband here for his birthday because it is his overall favorite restaurant. We both enjoy seafood and it is the best in SLC. We also brought along our 5 month-old baby, who was an angel. It was very busy (Saturday night). It took us a long time to valet park, but we arrived at our reservation time (6pm). We were seated in just a couple of minutes. For the most part, the evening was nice. The drinks, appetizer, bread, soup, and ordering were all timed nicely. The only problem we had is that our main course took an unusually long time and when it arrived, my husband's steak was cold. Since it took so long, he just ate it. He mentioned it to the server, but there was really nothing he could do since my husband already ate it."

  • "My wife and I had the smoked salmon appetizer and it was fantastic and nearly a meal in itself. She had the macadamia nut crusted Chilean sea bass and it was very good and I had the broiled halibut and it was unbelievably good. Definitely going back but next time we're eating a few apps each with no main course just so we can try new things."

  • "Our waitress was a little slow getting one person on our tables drink since the rest of the table was sharing a bottle of wine."
