My mom had the short ribs which was the best entree on the table. The meat was so tender and flavorful... ah. And the dessert. The coconut tapioca with green tea ice cream was SPLENDID! It was just a fantastic food, and fantastic service. We started off with the soft shell crab tempura and yellowtail tartar. We knew we were in for a treat after our first bites. Mom doesn't even like soft shell crab and she devoured it. For dinner I had the duo of beef, a wagyu filet, and braised short ribs. TO DIE FOR!!! Had the bacon soufflé with a huge slice of crispy bacon on top. I wish I had the dudes job that is in charge of bacon. Dad had lamb with a peach Demi glaze thing. Mom had the lobster that was on special. Everything had petite veggies of some sort. Dessert we had the s'mores, and the blueberry creme in filot dough.

I do wish they had a small salad for a starter. Since we do not go very often we forget how big the starters are and that we need to share them. The food was terrific, wagu beef, short ribs, lobster the veggies from Chino Farms, all was tasty and well presented. There is a terrific wine list and I only regret we could not open more bottles, sometimes the variety is too tempting. Location is odd of course, near the Polo Fields, and no view and the place is a little noisy, but we had a nice corner table and could talk comfortably. The price is premium, both food and wine on the expensive side, but also excellent so choose your way, well fed and broke or go somewhere else. The attention to levels of tastes in each course is perfect. Vegetables are intertwined in a Kelleresque manner and throughout each entree put in front of the patron. They give new heights to desert. I generally am not a desert person but at Market I look forward to it. I will never think about eating ice cream without kumquats ever again. The sommelier creates ideal pairings and I cannot think of a meal at Market without the wines. In addition the servers know their stuff and are grade A++. They are knowledgeable about the foods, ingredients, and wines. All in all you have to go to Market - by far the best dining experience in San Diego county.

I wanted to be daring and try one of their "Adventurous White Wines" that I had never even heard of, but I wanted to make sure that it would pair well with their Lobster Special. Terra gave me an excellent recommendation, because it paired beautifully with the Lobster and all of the veggies it came with. I can't wait until the next time we eat there! Everything is fresh and inventive and so flavorful. I am seriously - seriously - looking for another restaurant in San Diego that compares. I haven't yet found it. (Accepting suggestions). The price tag is higher than your regular everyday place (our bill was $200 for 2 including tip, no alcohol) but being someone who sometimes suffers from shoppers remorse, I have no regrets dropping money here. Great setting and a great staff. The bar staff was excellent and the drinks were fantastic. Service was top notch and the food from some of the yellow-tail appetizers to the salads, to the main courses (duckbreast and ginger shrimp dumplings) were creative but accessible and wonderful. Cannot recommend highly enough.
