Market Grille is a casual restaurant highlighting the best domestic American products and cuisine. The extensive menu features a variety of small plates, burgers, and entrees that offer a modern twist on traditional, comfort cuisine. All of the ingredients and products utilized are locally-sourced and domestically-grown. The full bar features a large selection of American spirits including artisan vodkas, small batch bourbons, craft whiskeys, and house-made infusions. The bar also features over 30 wines by the glass and a broad selection of local, craft brews including 12 on draft. The atmosphere is a welcoming blend of modern elements and traditional American comfort.   • "Was so disappointed to learn (upon ordering) that the ham dinner was not available. Very disappointing on Easter! It was only5pm! Luckily there was something else on the menu that was acceptable. Also, We sat in their back dining room area and the sun was so strong coming through the windows. It was uncomfortably hot. They did not have any type of blinds or shades on the windows. Despite these 2 issues the food was very good. Love the decor. Will return. "

  • "My daugher is a student at UConn and couldn't come home for Easter weekend so my husband, myself and our adult son came to CT to celebrate Easter with her there. I chose Market Grille for Easter Brunch online. We had never been and had no referral but we found the menu offered a diverse selection, the food was fabulous and the service was great. Atmosphere is upscale but comfortable. Overall a great experience and I'm sure we'll be back as we have 3 more years of visiting the UConn area for holidays and special occassions. "

  • "My friend's sandwich was "over-toasted" on one side and since we have seen enough restaurant reality shows, we didn't complain. The waitress noticed it when she went to wrap the other half and instead they made my friend a new sandwich to take home."

  • "The food is PHENOMENAL & the service is always exceptional. We have eaten here many times & always leave raving about our dining experience. For starters, we enjoyed fried calamari, gorgonzola bread & collossal shrimp cocktail. For dinner our group was delighted by the herb-crusted steaks & seafood entrees. EVERYTHING we have tried from the menu is just fantastic. Dark chocolate tiramisu paired with a red dessert wine was an over-the-top finish to our meal there. We sat in the dining room and had beautiful views of the sun setting over Hartford. The outdoor patio is great, too. The fireplace keeps it nice & toasty on the cooler nights. This restaurant really has it all: excellent service, food, drinks & atmosphere. Highly recommended!"

  • "The scallops were undercooked, so I sent them back. I have heard from other patrons that the seafood is undercooked, so they need to work on that. Otherwise, the food is very good, and it was better the last time I went there."

  • "We sat on the covered patio with the sun streaming in and the overhead heaters warming us up. We were close to the fireplace but not so close that we overheated. Overall, it was a memorable dinner on a beautiful evening, with a professional waitress (Alicia) and excellent food."

Food was delicious with two minor complaints: breakfast potatos were overly salted and the toast was near black on one side and hardly done on the other. Service was friendly and competent."

  • "Had the hanger steak salad. Asked for it medium and it arrived rare. Market Grille has changed since they opened; previously you could count on a great dinner and a menu that changed often. This isn't the case anymore - my last three meals have been disappointing for the price, and the menu always seems the same. I will probably be scratching this establishment off my list."

  • "Have been to MG several times in the past. This time, I was a little disappointed with our table. It was tucked away in the back room with no view. Our server seemed a bit unfriendly at first but then warmed up. The food is always good. Drink prices could be a bit more reasonable."

  • "We had reservations at 745 and didn't get seated until after 8, so we waited for about 20 min for our table and they only have a couple chairs to wait in. The area was very crowded. Once at our seats the service was fast... But almost too fast. I felt like we were being rushed out. The food was good. We both enjoyed our meals, but it just wasn't the nice long relaxing romantic dinner we had hoped for."

  • "Our visit to Market Grille on a recent Friday evening was most unpleasant. We had reservations and specifically requested not to be seated at a banquette, however, upon our arrival, that is exactly where we were seated, and at a tiny table that was unstable and wobbled incessantly. Even worse, there was so little space between chairs that we spent our entire evening being bumped into by passing patrons and servers. The noise level was near intolerable and the food was just average. When we voiced our disappointment, we were told a large party changed their minds about seating, so apparently all other patrons did not matter that evening. We were offered nothing but a token apology. Poor management, poor treatment. Will not return."

  • "This was our second tome going to this restaurant and had an even better experience then before. Our server, Teresa, was incredible. She never gave us the opportunity to wonder where she was. She was always there when we needed her without hovering. She made great recommendations and followed up with us to make sure we were happy. The food was as wonderful as we had expected. From the beginning to end, it was a great evening."

  • "The entrees and hot rolls were excellent, as usual. The service by Evan B was very, very good. The only problem was the dessert. It was described as lemon cheesecake with meringue. There was cake and there was meringue, but no "cheesecake." Three of us had this dessert. Everyone's reaction was the same. Rein's Deli would never have sold this as cheesecake. Also, there was a dark layer of something on the top. None of us could identify the flavor, but. we all agreed that it was a very, very bad idea. We took off the remaining layer and finished the dessert. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone and the dessert to no one."

  • "Let me start by saying that all of our 6 dinners and desserts were fantastic. However I ordered the lobster and shrimp scampi over black pepper pasta and when it arrived I was handed shell crackers and a bowl for the shells. I could not believe that they expected you to pick up the sauce and pasta covered half a lobster and crack it open to pull out the meat. Are you kidding me? I don't know who thought this one up but at least put it on the description that your hands will be covered in sauce and pasta for the night. I was shocked."

  • "we made reservations and when we arrived at the restaurant we were seated in a small alcove, behind a wall. There was a large group in the room and the room was small. I have been to this restaurant several times and this is the 2nd time we were seated in a small corner, no view, facing a wall. I think they should at least ask if the seating is ok, we would have said no. There are many other restaurants in the area , that are just as good and I am hesitant to go back to Market grill."

  • "We wanted a nice place for my sister's birthday. She used to be a restaurant manager so she rates restaurants more critically then most. We both loved the food here, plus she loved the bar with it's many infused liquors. I am gluten free and usually get stuck with a salad or plain steak but there were many wonderful GF options. We will definitely be back."

  • "I took my fiancé here for his birthday and we loved it. We've been twice before , usually saving visits for special occasions. The interior is very nice, especially the bar area which feels more like an NYC hangout than it does Manchester, CT. I'm glad to see this spot doing well (had we not made reservations it would've been a 40 minute wait) and that the food is just as fresh and tasty as it was when they first opened. It's maintained its integrity and I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the great outdoor seating soon."

  • "this is a gem-sitting atop the hill at Buckland Hills with beautiful views of the Hartford skyline a great place to sit outside for cocktails and appetizers, and even dinner-they have a wonderful fire place and enclose the patio during the colder months so you can enjoy the outside area almost year round. Love dining inside too! The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff are all so friendly, the food is delicious and lots of options. We always enjoy when they have the fixed price menu-it allows us to try three courses at a very reasonable price. You cannot go wrong! I would not suggest this as a restaurant for families with younger children-although I think they allow it. The atmosphere is definitely more grown up."

  • "The optional Valentine's Day dinner menu was a great alternative to the standard menu, with nice choices and a fair price for the holiday. Unfortunately, most of the food was pre-prepared and after an interminable wait, was brought to our table barely luke warm. To top it off, they did not want to cook the steak tips to my wife's preferred temperature, another giveaway that the items where pre-made and sitting in a warming tray. The manager tried to dismiss our compaints about the wait time and the temperature of the food, saying the "kitchen wasn't prepared for the rush". How is THAT possible? It's a great place for a cocktail, but I've had two unsuccessful meals here, I won't got for a third."

  • "Outside of a small wait waiting for our table. We did have reservations. We were not rushed and we were able to enjoy our meal. Each one of us had different entrees with the Lobster scampi winning best choice. Braized ribs were very good,pork tenderloin was very tasty. Snapper for the special was a small piece and was good. Appetizers ( Mussels) were excellent and fried ravioli very tasty. Overall a great experience we are accustomed from the MRG group. Look forward to going back for lunch as the table next to us had some serious sandwiches."

  • "The food here is good, not notable, The service staff was rushed, and not particularly attentive. Hopefully it was a Friday night issue and understaffing. They fixed the bar since I was last there, you can now get a good Scotch, The hostess told me they had given up on the only American brands theme in the bar. I really appreciate the option to order small plates with great tasting food.. They have a terrible noise problem -the place is very loud, making it hard to have a table conversations. Not the place to propose she may not hear the question."
