Market by Jean Georgesoutstanding all aroundBrought my friend here for her first visit and she was wowed. Food was delicious (can't beat that pea soup), and I loved all the mini preserves and honey on the table, very cute. They seated us at a lovely corner, and we enjoyed a pleasant brunch without feeling rushed. Service was spot on, impeccable, honestly the best I've had in the city. All service staff we encountered asked us how we were and how was our meal and the way they spoke, I felt like they actually wanted to know and like they actually CARED. Prices are reasonable, same as any other nice restaurant in Boston, but the experience overall is so much more. Service is much much better, drinks are yum, food mouthwatering, and that's why I come back again and again!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner for TwoI took my mother to Market for Mother's Day this past weekend and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is trendy and energetic with supurbe food that lived up to my expectations of Jean Georges' restaurants. For our meal we asked our server to pick a wine pairing which we were both very pleased with, complimenting both meal and our given price range. Given we had an early reservation we were given pleanty of attention, but even after Market got crowded and busy we were still attended to, and were never left wondering where our server had disapeared to. Both my mother and I had a wonderful experience and I hope to return in the future. The bar was not super busy while we were there, but the cocktails were artful and delicious.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFANTASTIC FINDThe food was excellent....we arrived at 5:30p for dinner ..Staff was attentive.....went to the theater and returned with friends for drinks. In the future, it will be a go to place...Great location for theater goers especially...parking is just across the street5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! We had dinner at Market before a show at the Shubert Theater. The food was fabulous, the service was impeccable, and the overall experience was just perfect. The beet salad was wonderful but the salad with shrimp beat it hands down (no pun intended). My husband tried a specialty cocktail (with lychee) and it was amazing (but a little too sweet for me). Main courses were great and the side of sauteed spinach was extraordinary. The salted caramel sundae was a dessert worth the calories! We will definitely be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGood pre-show eating spotExcellent food and service attuned to pre-show crowd. Highly recommend.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice, great serviceThe food was very nice, I thought my friend's dish was more inspired than mine but then, perhaps it's better to have options for both the adventurous and more traditional palettes. Our server was attentive without being overbearing, and noted that we were in the area for the opera, so made sure we had everything in plenty of time and were not rushed at all. Expensive, but you probably realized that going in.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service,Great food and great service, but I never understood the rule that all or none have to do tasting menu. Does not sound customer centric.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb pre-theater dinnerThe food was excellent, the ambiance classy, the service truly exceptional. We asked how one dish was made and the manager came out and sent quite a bit of time with us. Market goes to the top of my list.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had reservations for aWe had reservations for a party of 4 before the theater. Three of us got stuck in traffic for almost half an hour west of the city and were late - one was in the bar waiting.
Your hostess's were kind, sympathetic but advised they couldn't hold reservations as late as ours were - then they found us a fabulous table! Quiet, private and with instructions for what to order to make the theater on time!
My steak was to die for and so was the lobster.
Thank you and kudos for a job well done.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDecent food, but overpricedDecent food, but overpriced for what it offers.
You may leave hungry if you don't order a side with your entree.
Service was very professional and friendly. Good for dinner before a play.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't be happier with my firstCan't be happier with my first experience at Market!
I didn't expected that much, choose it because of the location.
They blew my mind. Appetizer and main dishes are so delicious, good portion nice decorating, very tasty.
People who works there are very very progressional and polite.
I had such an unforgettable experience at Market!
I will definitely go back to try out different dishes.
Glad that we have such a luxury-high end restaurant in Boston.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMevey aspect of the diningevey aspect of the dining experience was very good, memorable, delicious4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was FABULOUS! ServiceFood was FABULOUS! Service could have been better-- not awful-- just not great. Waitress did not come back and ask to refill our drinks/water etc.. and the restaurant was not busy at that time- we ate early on a Sunday night.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experienceThe food was delicious; the flavor combinations were simple yet elegant and memorable. A friendly and knowledgeable waiter provided us with excellent service. My husband and I overlooked one of our favorite foods on the sides list, so we ordered it after our meals came out; the waiter happily brought us our late order in what seemed like 30 seconds flat.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThey music they were playThey music they were play was not what I consider good background music for dinner. It was loud rock and roll.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my third time to MarketThis is my third time to Market and each visit has been flawless. The entire staff is friendly and knowledgable. Menu is approachable - not stuffy or overwhelming. The freshness of the ingrediants really shines through. Timing of courses is handled correctly - you don't feel rushed. That being said if you are going to a show they make it work in timely fashion. If I am in the theatre district this is the place I go.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ordered appetizers beforeWe ordered appetizers before going to the theater and wine. They were very good but bill still ended up being pricey.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe atmosphere, decor andThe atmosphere, decor and service were all excellent. Great service and friendly staff. We had the tasting menu and it was a bit disappointing. the first and last course were great, but the middle courses lacked personality.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantWe ate breakfast here all through the weekend of our son's wedding and it was great. Service and food were excellent and a wonderful ambiance for visiting with our guests. Staff moved tables around, accommodated us for whatever we needed.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSituated in the theatre district,Situated in the theatre district, Market is a perfect place for dining before or after the show. However, the food, service and ambience is so good that I find it has become my "go to" restaurant of choice. Service is casual, professional and knowledgable. Food preparations are always interesting and unfailingly delicious. The kitchen has a way with fish that's truly special. Try the salmon sashimi for starters - meltingly good.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious food, lovely serviceLove, love, love Market. Been here several times, and I keep coming back. The short rib melts in your mouth, I actually salivate when I think about it. Drinks are delicious, not too strong, not too sweet, just a nice kick and great flavors. Food is always delicious, without fail. Prices are right. The restaurant itself is beautiful (to be expected considering it's inside the W). Clean lines, muted colors, the works. Service is unpretentious, attentive, and kind. One of my Boston top 3.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, lots of differentVery good food, lots of different favors and well prepared. We particularly liked the tuna tartare and the pan roasted cod with chili sauce. Also, a nice job with cocktails.
It's very loud, however.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was the best imaginableThe service was the best imaginable. The food was innovative and well presented. There are few good spots real close to the theater scene, and this is one of them. We would definately come back to this restaurant.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friends and I went outMy friends and I went out for Restaurant Week. It was great. For us, it is probably only a special occasion place. The ambiance was lively but not rowdy and the service on point. I'm glad we got a chance to try the place. But that's what Restaurant Week is about!
As a culinary professional, I would have to recommend it. The menu is not off the wall or pushing-the-envelope, but sometimes doing a quality job on simple food is a harder skill.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat an amazing visit! TheWhat an amazing visit! The food was impeccable and so was the staff. We went for restaurant week and had a blast. We tried the salmon, short ribs, tuna tartar, butternut squash soup, and the salted caramel sundae! It makes you realize why you have taste buds. Not only does it set a new standard, but shows you the amazing possibilities of how good food can be. And the bar! Make sure you let Domingo work his magic at the bar. He is an artist! He creates syrups, infusions, lights them on fire, adds flowers.. it's truly delicious art. Make sure you get there early to visit him before your dinner.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for restaurant weekWe went for restaurant week and while the food was delicious the portions were unbelievably small. It was not at all worth the amount we paid. For this reason I would not return.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLocated in the theatre districtLocated in the theatre district and just barely outside the financial hub of Boston, this up to the minute restaurant provides a sophisticated respite from the regular Boston fare. The spare modern decor is comforting to the eye, the food dazzles the palate and the service soothes and informs. I love this place for lunch or dinner. Try the simply cooked fish offerings - simple and perfectly prepared.1/25/2013 12:00:00 AManother great meal at Market.another great meal at Market. a terrific bar, good bread and salads, and very strong fish and chicken entrees, topped off with a peanut/caramel/chocolate sundae which was to die for. we eat at Market almost every time we go to the theater, and it rarely disappoints.1/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis beautifully minimal roomThis beautifully minimal room is always a delight in which to dine. The welcome and service are always friendly and professional. The chefs provide an interesting and seasonal menu to tempt all palates. Superb fish preparations which come both simply prepared and/or accompanied by sides. Salads and other appetizers are also superbly prepared and presented. I love this place for lunch or for before/after theatre.12/18/2012 12:00:00 AMWe had visited Jean GeorgeWe had visited Jean George in NYC and wondered if this was similar. It is. Arrived for Restaurant week. Had a marvelous dinner with extraordinary choices each more mouthwatering that the first. Wine was truly wonderful as well. Very chic decor - trendy and somewhat minimalist yet warm and very comfortable. Service was excellent.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PMFrankly, the food was overratedFrankly, the food was overrated and somewhat bland. Good quality but I've had much better food for much lower prices1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
