    The street level entrance to Market by Jean-Georges is accessible from 1115 Alberni Street. A glass elevator is also available to the left of the restaurant entrance, directly beside the Urban Fare grocery store.

The concept of the “hotel as a home” extends to the restaurant as its casual family kitchen. Inspired by the casual, simple elegance of modern dining, Jean-Georges has created menus that emphasize fresh, locally produced ingredients, served in a sleek and sophisticated setting.

A destination restaurant with four distinct experiences: an intimate second dining room featuring a fireplace, a heated outdoor seasonal Terrace with city views, an enticing Bar and a sophisticated Dining Room. The full menu is available in all areas of the restaurant.

The Outdoor ( Seasonal ) Terrace and Bar are on a first come first served basis.

The effort they put in for the miserable table that was seated after us was truly amazing the two women next to us were rude and condescending nothing could have made them happy but the staff did everything under the sun to make them happy Including resetting their table while the two grumps went out for a cigarette. As for our experience food was first class portion size was just right great choices of wine I would recommend this to anyone great atmosphere for couples or groups of friends"

  • "We had a delightful time on Thanksgiving Weekend Sunday mid-day. The young lady serving us was not afraid to recommend wines and also was very helpful with advice for food choices. The atmosphere was friendly and while there were a lot of people (including some younger ones), it was not a noisy place. Service was quick without being rushed and the presentation was equal to the taste expectation. We will return and try it at other times of the day as we were more than impressed. Everyone was friendly without fawning, and the decore (including the washrooms) is exceptional."

  • "Went here to celebrate a birthday. The staff wished the birthday girl a happy birthday and brought out the dessert with a candle and "happy birthday" written on the plate. The souffle was one of the most flavorful desserts she's had. The other food was delicious and portion sizes were good. The server was warm and welcoming."

  • "I'm used to like every thing about The Market. When it comes to service and food it was absolutely excellent. But now I've noticed that the service wasn't good anymore (takes a long time to refill waters or bring the bread to the table) and the food takes forever to arrive (even our server was not happy about it) there is for sure lock of management in the kitchen. This got to be fix before it go down hill."

  • "I am a resident at the Shangri-la. Each day when I ride the elevator I see an advertisement for Market which states that you will receive a discount equivalent to your age on your birthday. I made a reservation for my girlfriend's birthday, and even ordered a special dessert for her through the restaurant. They refused to give us the discount. The manager explained that it was only available if we called in advance to request the discount, and said he would go broke if he gave it to everyone. His rude attitude ruined the birthday and we walked out. I took a picture of the ad back in the elevator, which no where, not even in fine print, mentions that we must call ahead to request the discount. This is false advertisement, and unacceptable."

  • "The restaurant was great except for a couple of items: The plastic place mats are hard on your elbows and stick to your arms, we almost spilled 2 glasses of wine because of them. The lighting was terrible. I understand you want the ambiance but you could not read the menu. The food was fantastic but was slightly surprised to have to pay extra for veg's and side dishes. We ordered the half bottles of blue mountain wine only because they only had it in half bottles. We would have ordered full bottles but that specific one was not available."

  • "We expected much more than what was delivered. It took 20+ minutes to receive the bottle of wine we ordered. The appetizers were good but the main meal was very disappointing. The fresh fish was extremely salty as was my beef tenderloin. In addition, the Bernaise sauce was horrible. One would expect that a French Restaurant could properly prepare Bernaise sauce. Our waiter was dressed poorly (as if he was working in a diner) and to top it off, he tried to charge is an extra $65.00 for a 2nd bottle of wine we never ordered. I don't always check the bill but I'm glad I did in this instance. Would not recommend this place for any reason."

Service was fantastic - friendly and attentive but not overly chatty. Food was mediocre at best - good but doesn't merit the high prices. I guess we went with high expectations given all the hype so we left feeling a bit underwhelmed."

  • "Service was very very good, the AC is always turned on way way way too high, I was freezing even with my coat on, people at other tables were putting on their jackets too. Tuna tartare was good, but the rest of the food I'd rate just average, nothing really made an impression on my taste buds. I didn't like that everyone at the table had to order the tasting menu if just one person wants to try it. Otherwise ambiance was good, the setting was very nice and romantic."

  • "Fist time at this restaurant. We've been to Jean George's restaurant in Las Vegas so based on that experience we tried Market and glad we did. We both had the Tasting Menu comprised of a wide range sample of the menu. The menu is varied so this was the best way to try most of it. Trick is - stay away from bread. One of the best meals ever!"

It was our anniversary dinner, and did not find it a romantic setting by any means. Most people were in groups and were casually dressed. The service was amazing and the food was good."

  • "Quite expensive for the quality of food and portion size. This summer, they had the Bubbles, Beats and Brunch theme going on so it was pretty loud. There were only 3 tables occupied at that time and one of the customers complained about the loud music blaring from the patio. After much discussion (the supervisor refused to have the music turned down at first), they decided to close the door to the patio and perhaps lowered the volume as well. If not for my Golden Circle member voucher, I wouldn't pay premium $$$ to dine here."

We used to try different restaurants, but now we just go to Market because the food is so good, the service is great and the ambience is quiet & elegant. We love their willingness to accommodate us as we usually spend several hours together after lunch talking and catching up. The three course lunch is the best deal in town, and their brunch dishes served in the summer are creative & tasty."

  • "This location is right in the middle of serious downtown construction, so despite a very nice and meticulously constructed outdoor deck I decided to eat inside. Surprisingly empty, the decor is a bit imposing when there aren't many people around. Food was quality, the kind of modern cuisine you expect from a port town with access to quality ingredients. The steelhead was quite good, and the peaches for dessert were nice in their simplicity. Really wish I could have done their tasting menu, but the whole table has to opt it. I understand the chef's preference, but it's really hard to get an entire table to go all in on five specific courses."

  • "We went for saturday brunch. The balcony music is very loud and you have to yell at each other to talk just like in the club. we switch to the indoor seats. The cinnemon buns is over sweet. The salmon with crispy rice is too salty. You feel like you are eating the salt. The baked egg is very good."

  • "We went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Early bird dining works well for us. It's nice and quiet with excellent service. If you want "Top Chef" food quality, you gotta try all their dishes here. We had very tasty scallops, sablefish, short ribs and cheesecake. All dishes are well balanced with a hint of spice and aroma to experience. I think we both finished it all with nothing left on the plate. :) We will definitely visit again to try their weekend brunch one day."

The only criticism I have having been here several times is that the advertised 50min lunch is never 50mins, so leave at least and hour and a half if you want to eat."
