A word from Market 17
Market 17 is proud to be serving delicious, creative dishes that are literally from the farm right to the tables of our diners. We call this "wine country cuisine" because the emphasis is on fresh, clean food from top purveyors along with an abundant wine list.

For the more adventurous diner, Market 17 offers 'dining in the dark'. It is our chefs table in a private room that allows a new way to experience food. Once your sight is turned off, all the other senses are heightened. It's a fun and unique experience to enjoy our food. (Due to limited seating, reservations for dining in the dark can be requested via open table notes but are not guaranteed. Please call 954.835.5507 to confirm dining in the dark reservation requests.)

Our menu will change daily and we'll always offer amazing tasting menus for you to sample what the chef has created. Come and experience for yourself what all the buzz is about!

Diner Reviews
  • "Outstanding, innovative, entertaining. Wine list long, menu limited but comprehensive. Expensive, but worth the money."

  • "Absolutely loved this place. I took my girlfriend for her birthday and we both absolutely enjoyed everything we both ordered. First time I see a place offer a tasting size and a full size version of each entree. I loved that because it allows you to sample more entrees. The "tasting" size is a full meal if you're counting calories. I asked for 2 tasting size entrees and found that to be a lot of food.. and I am a big guy. Highly recommend this place .. We will definitely be back soon."

  • "Everything from the appetizers to main courses and side dishes were really delicious!! The server was right-on with the Wahoo entree..so fresh and such unusual mixes of favor. The only slight disappointment was dessert....the chocolate flourless cake was a bit dry. They offer a tasting menu which I plan to go back for at a later date."

  • "I had an excellent time! The service was impeccable and it matched the 6-course meal. I would recommend this restaurant for a great night out. The drinks are yummy!"

  • "Read other reviewers who attested to great food and they were right. Not only unique in the couplings of main courses with the added veggies but in the presentation. It was lovely to taste several entrees only to end up ordering the whole orders. It was a rather quiet night and was romantic ...our waiter was knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. All in all a wonderful time."

  • "This place is hands down my favorite dining experience in Broward County. From the ambiance to the wine list and, oh yeah the FOOD. Wow the food is the most interesting presentation I have seen in a while, all farm to table local organic products. The chef does a wonderful job of creating a variety of daily dishes that will arouse your tastes buds. The combination of flavors is masterfully done. The service is very professional and not overly chatty, perfect for an Anniverssary celebration. You can try normal portion sizes or try chef's tasting samples of different dishes( I recommend doing that) for half the price. Speaking of which the prices, although not cheap, are very reasonable for the quality of the food."

  • "We had been wanting to try Market 17 for some time. It came up among the 10 most romantic restaurants in Ft. Laud so for our anniversary the time was right. The atmosphere was great. John our waiter was excellent. The food was great. We had antelope and grouper. Food was fresh and local. Turns out mostly organic as well Wine list was good. Very very nice meal and evening. We definitely will be back."

  • "Great menu with variety of foods - vegetarian options to game options. Love that they have a smaller "tasting" portion for all entrees. Good for us ladies who don't want the full portion."

  • "One nice thing about this restaurant is they offer 3oz glasses of wine as well as normal 6oz glasses. So I was able to taste 5 wines thru the course of the meal, which was fun as I worked my way thru a starter and a main course. They also offer half-size main dishes, which allows one to stay trim or to sample more stuff!"

  • "Market 17 was like going on a date with an exotic girl. The food was unique and very different from what you'd find at a typical place, and therefore made you a bit nervous about trying some of it. But all of it was fantastic, as was the service. This is a great place to go for a special occasion."

  • "We went here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The first table where we were seated was next to a large group that was getting louder as the wine flowed - we thought about asking to move, but before we could, the manager came to us and asked if we would like to move. We did and it was much more pleasant. Wes our server was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent - in particular, the beef cheek appetizer, the Duck Confit, the Key West Shrimp entrée and the Wahoo entrée. Wonderful experience! Expensive - but worth it given the event we were celebrating!"

  • "I have been traveling to Fort Lauderdale for work for the past 6 months, and this is the best restaurant that my co-workers and I have come across. The quality of the food is outstanding - very fresh, flavorful, and creative. The beef tartare was my favorite app, and while I loved all the entrees I sampled, the harvest market (vegetarian) was a stand-out."

  • "This is a excellent restaurant with fresh creative dining choices, with an elegant atmosphere and positively impeccable service. I highly recommend it. I had the Mango with cheese for an appetizer and the blend of flavors was so wonderful. My husband had the cerviche which again was creative with different kinds of fresh fish and a delicate citrus. For dinner I had the farm raised chicken over corn risotto which was so unusual. The restaurant was accommodating since I am gluten free. My husband had the grouper with tabbouleh which he said was fantastic. The flour less chocolate cake also was to die for! My husband ate the cannoli that topped the dessert! Overall I would rate this as one of my favorite in Ft. Lauderdale!"

  • "We was for dinning in the dark, but the reserve requieres more time. However, we loved this restaurant!!! Great surprise for the dinner, fresh vegetables, differents flavors, perfect combination, excellent service... The best was the tasting, we tested many things on the menu! The best: Roasted Free Range Chicken Breast!!! Delicious... A little expensive, but good for special occasions."

  • "Fort Lauderdale has lots and lots of restaurants but not much fine dining. Market 17 is good, probably the best in town. It's not London, Paris or New York standards but it's as close as you'll get in this neck of the woods. Dining room is very large and not very intimate. Service was professional, although a little bit scripted and lacked personality."

  • "What a surprise! I found Market 17 on the New Times list of 10 best for 2013. We made an early reservation (7) for Saturday and arrived around 6:45. Lucky us. Our bartender informed us that 5-7 was happy hour every day of the week, even on Saturday. Drinks and appetizers at half price. The bar was dimly lighted (a plus) with no TVs or other distractions. When we went to our table, our server was informative and polite. I had the cobia and my wife had the small beef dish because she had had a little much of the appetizer. Everything was perfect. We had wonderful time, expect to return and highly recommend Market 17."

  • "My husband and I were in Ft. Lauderdale for one night only and we wanted to enjoy a local foodie experience. The reviews for Market 17 were fairly solid so we were hopeful. We tried the tasting menu with the matched wines and it was phenomenal! Our server was very helpful and everything came out well timed. The wines were great complements to the food and the chef was even willing to make a small adjustment to one of the items to accommodate one of our food quirks. We would recommend Market 17 for those interested in great food, good wine and interesting tastes and textures."

  • "I went for Happy Hour appetizers with my minor child that was not permitted to sit at the bar. The few tables they had in the bar area were full. I asked for a nearby table to the bar to enjoy appetizers at happy hour pricing and was denied. I was told I could sit outside and did not want to as it was extremely hot. The restaurant was completely empty at 5:00 pm and I asked them to reconsider but instead they watched us leave unhappy. I emailed the managing partner twice without a response. Why bother?"

  • "This restaurant is consistently good, the wine list has been selected with care, and the prices are reasonable. The food is sophisticated, and the menu changes enough to keep this regular going back. This is the best restaurant in Fort Lauderdale for those who appreciate quality to quantity. The portions are reasonable enough to have room for the amazing desserts."

  • "Less garnish for what is ordered. A 6 ounce portion of fish is good but my plate was full garnish by the time the fish was eaten."

  • "Market 17 prides itself on utilizing as many local sources of sustainably sourced foods as possible. Grass fed beef, free range chicken, local pork, fish and produce. The effort shows and is appreciated. 3 of us experienced the 6 course tasting menu with the wine pairings. At $125/person, it is a bit pricey, but the food and experience is excellent, but the portions were a bit small even for such a dinner. I would take a rough guess that the feature of each course was about 1 oz (chicken, fist, beef, etc). The wines selected went very well with each courses Our server very knowledgable about each course and wine. She (and the chef) were amazingly accommodating concerning food allergies - even making a special entree for my wife's dessert."

  • "One of the few restaurants in the Broward/ Palm Beach area that almost made my outstanding list. We were 6 foodies who agreed that the appetizers and entrees ( all 6 ) were outstanding. The desserts were less than stellar. I would return in a heartbeat."

  • "I had the dark dinning experience and I have to admit it has been one of the greates things I have ever done. They way the restaurant does it is very unique, and the server that helps you trough the experience is extremely professional and helpful. Very good for special occasions, specially if you plan to celebrate an anniversary or other important event with your couple."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary here. We got there early for happy hour - half-priced appetizers and glasses of wine (as well as other drinks) at the bar area. We then moved on to dinner - I had the most fabulous beef tenderloin. The sides were incredible - everything was amazingly fresh! I had off-hand mentioned to our server when we sat down that it was our anniversary. Indicative of their level of attention to service - our dessert came decorated with a happy anniversary greeting, and we were each given a glass of sparkling wine! Well worth the price - I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special night out!"

  • "we made reservations before 7 pm to take advantage of the happy hour offer advertised on the web page. our waitress told us that the happy hour was only avail at the bar. I went to the bar and the bartender said it was only avail if we ate in the bar. that was disappointing. the special appetizer included choice of meats and cheeses. it was sparse and not special. the flatbread appetizer was very good. my shrimp entrée was great and everyone liked their food. the waitress was cheerful but I would like to have had her be more outspoken about the nature of the restaurant serving local grown food. atmosphere was clean and modern. I might return"

  • "I took my mother for her birthday and we had a blast doing dining in the dark. Our meals were great and probably things I'd never try off a menu but I can't say I enjoyed everything. Our server was great as well! I would absolutely do this again."

  • "This is a beautiful restaurant. We were greeted and shown to our table by a friendly host. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable, and the service was excellent throughout our meal. However... The music did not match the fine-dining ambiance. Hearing mid-90s to 2000s alternative music (Sublime) did not fit the vibe and was off putting. We ordered the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. The food is fresh and a bit different than what you'd find at other restaurants. While very creative, most of the dishes were disjointed—some more cohesive than others. This inconsistency interrupted the flow of the meal. In summary. Great service, beautiful dining space, odd choice of music, and disjointed and inconsistent flavors."

I enjoyed the doroda fish on top of grits and veggies. Everything just melted in your mouth and all the flavors were delightful. I'll be back for sure!!!!"
