A word from Market 17
Market 17 is proud to be serving delicious, creative dishes that are literally from the farm right to the tables of our diners. We call this "wine country cuisine" because the emphasis is on fresh, clean food from top purveyors along with an abundant wine list.

For the more adventurous diner, Market 17 offers 'dining in the dark'. It is our chefs table in a private room that allows a new way to experience food. Once your sight is turned off, all the other senses are heightened. It's a fun and unique experience to enjoy our food. (Due to limited seating, reservations for dining in the dark can be requested via open table notes but are not guaranteed. Please call 954.835.5507 to confirm dining in the dark reservation requests.)

Our menu will change daily and we'll always offer amazing tasting menus for you to sample what the chef has created. Come and experience for yourself what all the buzz is about!

Diner Reviews
  • "One of the few restaurants in the Broward/ Palm Beach area that almost made my outstanding list. We were 6 foodies who agreed that the appetizers and entrees ( all 6 ) were outstanding. The desserts were less than stellar. I would return in a heartbeat."

  • "I had the dark dinning experience and I have to admit it has been one of the greates things I have ever done. They way the restaurant does it is very unique, and the server that helps you trough the experience is extremely professional and helpful. Very good for special occasions, specially if you plan to celebrate an anniversary or other important event with your couple."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary here. We got there early for happy hour - half-priced appetizers and glasses of wine (as well as other drinks) at the bar area. We then moved on to dinner - I had the most fabulous beef tenderloin. The sides were incredible - everything was amazingly fresh! I had off-hand mentioned to our server when we sat down that it was our anniversary. Indicative of their level of attention to service - our dessert came decorated with a happy anniversary greeting, and we were each given a glass of sparkling wine! Well worth the price - I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a special night out!"

  • "This is one of my favorite places in South Florida. There have been some up and down moments but in the end, this place will deliver for you."

  • "we made reservations before 7 pm to take advantage of the happy hour offer advertised on the web page. our waitress told us that the happy hour was only avail at the bar. I went to the bar and the bartender said it was only avail if we ate in the bar. that was disappointing. the special appetizer included choice of meats and cheeses. it was sparse and not special. the flatbread appetizer was very good. my shrimp entrée was great and everyone liked their food. the waitress was cheerful but I would like to have had her be more outspoken about the nature of the restaurant serving local grown food. atmosphere was clean and modern. I might return"

  • "I took my mother for her birthday and we had a blast doing dining in the dark. Our meals were great and probably things I'd never try off a menu but I can't say I enjoyed everything. Our server was great as well! I would absolutely do this again."

  • "This is a beautiful restaurant. We were greeted and shown to our table by a friendly host. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable, and the service was excellent throughout our meal. However... The music did not match the fine-dining ambiance. Hearing mid-90s to 2000s alternative music (Sublime) did not fit the vibe and was off putting. We ordered the Chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. The food is fresh and a bit different than what you'd find at other restaurants. While very creative, most of the dishes were disjointed—some more cohesive than others. This inconsistency interrupted the flow of the meal. In summary. Great service, beautiful dining space, odd choice of music, and disjointed and inconsistent flavors."

  • "New to the area, checked reviews online and picked this place. Everything we had was outstanding. Love that they support the local growers. The menu changes daily. I enjoyed the doroda fish on top of grits and veggies. Everything just melted in your mouth and all the flavors were delightful. I'll be back for sure!!!!"

  • "A great dining experience I went there with a party of four everything we had was fantastic! I don't think I've ever heard so many compliments coming from every sampling my entire life :) The service was impeccable as well. It was my second time there, both times equally fantastic. Everything from the main entrée down to the sauces and gravies had such Depth that consumed your senses with joy. I would highly recommend this establishment anyone who's looking for a great meal at very reasonable prices. I must be honest I would like to keep this a secret, I don't want it to get the point where I'm unable to get a reservation. But they do deserve high praise and I hope they stay around for a long time! Thank you, Market 17 team"

  • "Spent a delightful evening dining at Market 17 for Dad's Day. Although OPEN TABLE should have a place in their reservation page indicating if one would like to dine in the Dark Room (which has very limited sitting) and that's exactly where I wanted to surprise Howard with, we enjoyed the restaurant itself. Portions were a bit small, but very delicious. The presentation was very nice as well. The hostess who greeted us was very pleasant and friendly...which was the start to a very enjoyable dinner. Our waitress was very professional and accommodating. Thank you! We shall return to dine in the Dark Room sometime soon."

  • "I was out celebrating my bday with some friends a week later (because we all have kids) and just mentioned it to the waiter. His joke was to give me a strawberry cut in 4 on a plate that said happy bday with a candle in it. It was very humorous and we got a kick out of it but a little cake or something would be nice. Other than that the food was really good! I will be back for dinner but not a special occasion like a bday as I would have enjoyed a special sweet treat anywhere else."

  • "I live out of town but work in South Florida. I found Market 17 on Opentable on visit and have been back several times since. Market 17 is a farm to table "foodie" restaurant. Interesting wines, food pairings, and "main / tasting" options on the entrees. Really a good spot if you like the "slightly" expensive, foodie experience."

  • "Really enjoyed our evening! Service was good and we were not rushed. Sommelier made an excellent recommendation, a Malbec, not too expensive, a great bottle! Food was excellent, only a slight disappointment that the "crispy" pork belly appetizer was more soggy than crispy. If we are ever in Fort Lauderdale again, we would definitely return!"

  • "The chef is very creative. The menu is always changing and the food is always delicious; anything from antelope to vegetarian dishes. Just wish they would offer some low sodium options."

  • "Everything about this restaurant was fabulous! The food was delicious, our waiter was awesome! Having half plates or full is interesting as it gives the option of tasting 2 entrees! The happy hour is every day till 7, with half price drinks, but let's face it, the drinks are served in small glasses and it wonder if you lay full price if you get a better pour. That would be the on,y drawback, drink prices are high, but food is amazing!"

  • "We are big fans of organic and locally sourced foods. This restaurant gives us both in preparations that are downright wonderful. We had dorado and it was deliciously prepared. Dorado is a fish that we don't get at our local whole foods, so it was a double treat. "

  • "Awesome dining for our anniversary. We were looking for something 'not so everyday' and we definitely found it here. Everything looked so good we couldn't decide. With the option of a 'tasting menu' we decided to get 2 selections each. We got the shrimp, beef tenderloin, duck and pork. All were delectable! Would recommend each. Additionally our waitress was very pleasant & knowledgable of the menu items. If you like fresh & tasty food, you are sure to love Market 17. "

  • "We had a great dinner, the tasting menu with wine pairing. Everything was outstanding! However, there was a woman on the patio where we had chosen to sit, since it was beautiful weather, and she had not one, but TWO dogs with her! Almost as bad as being seated next to a smoker. While I understand we were all outside, I still think that it was inappropriate for the setting and how nice of a restaurant it is."

  • "The restaurant is in the convention center complex and management is well aware it generally has a captive audience. Mother's Day Brunch at Market 17 will certainly go down as one of the worst restaurant experiences my party and I have ever had. It is hard to ruin breakfast, but this kitchen managed on all counts. Aside from the microscopic portions and high prices, the food would have been better at IHOP. Two $9 raw and cold blueberry pancakes appeared along with a $15 plate of cold, rubbery quail sized scrambled eggs, sausages, rock hard roasted potatoes, half a piece of burnt toast and undressed salad greens. Cold coffee and tea rounded out the meal. The manager listed to our concerns and walked away without saying anything. "

  • "Everything was great except that I wanted to eat in the dark room and my reservation was for the regular restaurant. Open table should have a section where you can specify if you want to eat in the dark room. "

  • "I found out about Market 17 after an online search for the top 10 restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. It was listed #4 and had a promising description by Miami New Times. We made a reservation as we were celebrating an anniversary and were seated immediately at a beautiful table. The waitress was prompt, friendly and helpful with the menu. In addition, the sommelier helped us pick out a reasonable but delicious wine to pair with our meal. As for the food, TO DIE FOR. We ordered the ceviche to start as well as a cheese and meat platter that consisted of bacon jam, culatello, and landaff. PHENOMENAL. We then ordered the grilled antelope fillet and the slow roasted duck breast entrees. Each had an exquisite taste. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED."

  • "I found this little gem while looking for a new place to take my mom out for Mother's Day and WHAT A FIND! Being a follower of craft brews, their beer listing was a refreshing change from the typical beer lists at higher end restaurants...as where their list of cocktails (for mom). Although the menu was short, it had something for everyone's liking...from "safe" to daring! As it changes weekly, they let you order half portions of each entree so you get to try a bit of everything you found intriguing that evening. Honestly, one of the few places I've been to where each item ordered was prepared perfectly to order, presented beautifully, and 100% enjoyed! We will definitely return!!!"

  • "dishes are a little pricy but the choice to pick tastings (smaller portion of the main dish for 1/2 the price, including the sides/accompaniments ) adds some flexibility to those who dont want to commit to just 1 dish (like me). the charcuterie selections were pretty good, the duck rilette was amazing. the atmosphere was nice, the service was great.
