First time to Islamorada, first time at Marker 88. We were initially sat at an outdoor table by the water, but the mosquitoes were out of control and so we requested to be moved indoors. Our host was accommodating, our waiter extremely attentive. Food was great - conch fritters were tasty, our fish (yellow tail) well prepared. The key lime pie (not the baked Alaska version) was hands-down the best key lime pie I've ever tasted. Smooth and rich with just a fantastic flavor. Big thumbs up on that. Overall, a good experience. We'll definitely return.

Food was good and the wine list was unexpectedly expansive. They had some nice music outside, which was audible inside, so it wasn't too loud. Too bad the weather was cool and windy; it looked like the outside table would have been a nice place to eat. Great place for a sunset cocktail/dinner since it's on the Ocean side.

My husband and I stopped here while driving from Miami to Key West during our honeymoon. The location is spectacular -- right on the ocean, with a lovely beach and a long, peaceful dock. Great food and drinks -- the key lime mojito was delicious, and the conch fritters were the best we had on the trip, by far. The servers were friendly and efficient -- they knew we were on our honeymoon, so they brought us free key lime pie for dessert, along with a "Congratulations" card signed by the whole staff. A memorable honeymoon dinner, and a spot we plan to revisit on our next trip to the Keys.

The location is great to view the sunset. The food and drinks were good but nothing special. We weren't finished with our appetizers when they delivered our entrees so they got cold while we finished. Not to mention there wasn't room for everything on the table. I really hate that. Wine and other drinks requested with the entrees came just before we were finished. The one-man-band live music was pleasant and mellow and you didn't need to shout to converse at the dinner table. Not something you can say at a lot of other places with live music. Go for the location and view but don't expect a lot else.

This is a fun restaurant and bar on the water with decent food, good service and a great settings. No one goes to the Keys for culinary experiments. Rather, this area and this place is for fresh fish, conch, key lime pie, fun drinks, beautiful sunsets, and good times. With those expectations, you'll enjoy this long time favorite.

The service was OK. The food was adequate, but didn't hit any high notes. My hogfish with scallops entree was mixed with the protein delicious and a so-so vegetable. The penne in my husband's seafood pasta was way too al dente. There was a prodigious amount of raw garlic on both our entrees, which seemed like overkill. The sauce on my Thai green beans tasted like it came out of a bottle. My husband's Caesar salad was middle of the road---nothing special. And, the same can be said for the Key Lime Pie, which was served with truly awful ersatz whipped cream. We each had two alcoholic beverages. The tab was $150 before tip. The best part was our table next to the bay. For a restaurant that bills itself as a cut above the rest, it wasn't.

Simply a beautiful place to have dinner ... with a reservation three days in advance, on a busy spring break Saturday evening, we were given a prime table at the water's edge, underneath a trellis. But, then it took a full 15 minutes for a waitress to come say hello and take an order for drinks, or even provide water! It was a busy night, but not so busy for such an oversight. Luckily, the live music allowed us to take the miss The food was very good -- especially the local lobster tail and my wife's generous salad -- and there was a good range of choices for our sometimes finicky 17-year-old daughter, too. The appetizers we chose were not so special, but the Key Lime pie for dessert was really outstanding.

What a hidden gem! Don't let the funky street sign fool you - this is a serious seafood restaurant and perhaps the next place for sunset dining in the area! We asked for a quiet table outdoors and were given an intimate table near the point with an unobstructed view of the sunset. Food was fabulous, the music was great, the whole experience was marvelous. Will stop again when we're in the Keys.

The nice setting didn't justify the prices. We knew it was somewhat more expensive before we went but thought a special night would be rewarded with better than average food and service. Neither was the case. Within a short distance there are far better food values and even quality for 50-75% of the Marker 88 price. At first I thought the service was above average but then it seemed that she just overwhelmingly agreed with anything we asked about as her favorites. Overall we were disappointed with the value of what we received. It wasn't worth the markedly higher prices.

After reading other reviews, chose this for my birthday dinner while on the Keys for the first time. Was very disappointed. The place needs a "facelift". I'm sure eating outside is what is good about this restaurant, but it was too cold and windy when we dined in Feb. What really turned me off, however, was being served a big hunk of ahi sashimi which wasn't cut in delicate slices which it should have been and being given a cheap, black plastic cup in which to mix my soy and horseradish. On the dinner plate, we were each given enough green beans for an army. Very wasteful. Not sure I'd go back.

I put in my reservation that it was my husbands 40th bday, and that I needed a highchair. I figured I'd never get a great table with a highchair request, but wow! The table was the best table in the house. Perfectly situated under a pergola with a beautiful view. They never treated us 2nd class because our (very well behaved ) 2 year old was with us. They didn't know he would be well behaved and often, you can get prejudged by a waiter when you bring a child with you. They assume you will be cheap or high maintenance. I know this because I managed restaurants for 15 years. Our server was a professional, honored special requests and was friendly and timely. The ribeye with Mangrove honey was divine. Key Lime baked alaska very good.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by Marker 88. The location is probably the best on Islamorada. The service was outstanding, tentative and on the ball. The food was fantastic. We had the local ship cocktail (probably the best shrimp cocktail we have ever had - nice firm fresh shrimp), we also had the Stone Crabs (which you can never go wrong with) and they were reasonably priced at 3 for $28. My wife had the Yellow Snapper which was tender, light, flaky with absolutely no fishy taste what so ever. I had the lobster tail which was cooked perfect. I would highly recommend Marker 88 to anyone. Lively bar scene with live music as well
