  • "The ski season was tapering off at the end of March, but the Mariposa was still busy on a Saturday evening. The small plate offerings were inventive, yet not weird or off-putting. In fact, everything was delicious. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the preparations, the ingredients and the wine. The ambience was elegant, but welcoming, warm and friendly."

  • "The entrees here are served as "tasting plates," which means, for example, when you order the scallops, you get just one scallop. At first when they told us this I thought that was pretty silly, but as the meal progressed and we were able to try so many things, I loved it more and more. This was very fun and I'm sure we'll be back."

  • "Warm welcome upon arrival. Table was perfect, round for six right by fireplace. Excellent wine list ...Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley The small plate menu is very inviting as you have the opportunity to taste several items and not just one large entree. Started with the oysters , some of both..amazing! Next the table had the lobster, the scallops again amazing! Then we tried the gnocchi and tart...and thier were amazing. Last was bison and quail....what a finish to the meal. But then we got the chocolate snowball...wonderful presentation ! The service was exceptional, led by our server Jon... This place is a must!!!"

  • "My family has dined at the Mariposa probably 15 times in the past 20 years. The Mariposa has been the dining highlight of our family's annual Deer Valley Spring Break Ski trip. They were and are one of the best fine dining restaurants in the state of Utah. However, we were disappointed to see that in the past year or so they have switched from a traditional menu to a tasting menu. The food and service are still excellent but the tasting menu seems to be designed solely to extract a higher cost per person. Normally, a tasting menu has reduced prices to accompany the smaller portions however this is not the case with Mariposa. We preferred the traditional style menu and may look for a new place to try in Park City next year."

This year was the first time we visited Mariposa and I can tell you we will return. Jon, our waiter, was fantastic and he deserves a shout out. He did a great job on catering to our likes and pairings for wine. The food was amazing, compliments to the chef. And the tapas style menu fit everyone's desires."

  • "When we lived in Utah, Mariposa was our go-to restaurant for special occasions. I had my 40th birthday there and several since. When we went in the past, we almost always got the tasting menu, which was paradoxically unsatisfying because there were so many other things on the menu we wanted to try. That problem is now solved. Between the two of us, we tried 10 different dishes, all of which were simply excellent. I'm actually sorry we live so far now from such an excellent place."

  • "some parts of the meal - seared ahi and quail breast were excellent. others were mediocre - the bison, and the arugula and heirloom tomatoes was overdressed and too vinegary. the waiter was unctuous and never seemed to be there when you needed him. At the next table was a very loud woman (who might have been celebrating a little too much) - which really detracted from the atmosphere. the room and setting was lovely. the wine pairing was excellent and the 3 ounce pours were just right for 4 or 5 courses. the meal definitely had high points but too much mediocrity for what I expected."

If we hadn't said something to him at the beginning about wanting an early night, I think we could have been there for over 3hrs - yuck. Food is tasty but very heavy and a little old fashioned in its style. Food is extremely expensive, but wine list is surprisingly reasonable for the area (and has a great selection)."

  • "You wouldn't expect to find a sophisticated charming restaurant in the same lodge you ate a traditional ski lodge lunch in. Upstairs the ambience is upscale ski chalet and the chef has an incredibly deft touch. Its a "small plates" menu -- and the small plates are small, relatively expensive, and delicious. They did a sous-vide chicken dish that was the most tender/flavorful piece of chicken I have had. An osso-busco dish had all of the flavor but less of the "heft" of traditional preparations, Fried green tomatoes, a clever deconstructed mushroom hiding quinoa, and tuna were outstanding as well. Well worth your time."

My only complaint is that the portions were tiny, tiny. Even the main course. For $125 per person, we should have had a little more than three small dishes."
