I have to admit that my favorite NM restaurant is the Beverly Hills location. However, the Houston location is prettier. And one should feel pretty when dining in NM. My friend arrived before me and was tempted by the mixologist' , (I loathe this moniker), drink menu. His recommendation was spot on. My lunch was delicious, (crab cake). The service was not intrusive and we weren't pushed into ordering more than we needed.

I'm actually not a lady of leisure, but like to pretend that I am on the weekends. I have lunch there every other Saturday with a friend after working out because the food is tasty, healthy and presented well. The tables are well set and the atmosphere is light and bright. I find the entire experience relaxing. Best, Ann

Mariposa is my office's go-to place for business lunches, as well as being a great place to meet friends for lunch and a little shopping on the weekends. Neiman's valet parking makes it easy to get in and out--the food is always good, wait staff knows you by name, and it's light, bright and cheery.

It is not the same. Put back what you took out from your recipe for the Monkey Bread. The butter is still delicious...but what did you do to the monkey bread?????? Everyone noticed it and my friend just mentioned it as well. Please make it the way it is to be made...buttery and delicious.

We had to have lunch early,11AM, so elderly mother could attend. The restaurant was not ready for service when we arrived. When we were acknowledged I let them know we had a reservation but people were seated ahead of us without reservation but did arrive earlier. Clearly we did not need a reservation. We were seated over 15 min before the broth was served and 25 min before we could get coffee and bread. If I knew there would be no service at 11am I would have chosen another restaurant. I indicated on the reservation it was a Birthday lunch and no acknowledgement was made. I chose this restaurant and was embarrassed and disappointed. I have eaten lunch at this restaurant for years, this was the last.

This is a great lunch spot for shoppers at Neiman's but even better for a discreet business lunch. The menu is good, but the prices are quite steep even if you are on an expense account. The service was adequate; non- invasive if not a little snobish. I would go back for the right reason, but in the Galleria, Marioosa has some serious competition.

We ordered the seafood Louie salad and it was wonderful. All we needed was the sourdough bread and we could have been in San Francisco!! Attentive and timely service. Just once my plate was almost whisked away before I could finish the seafood!!

I was a bit disappointed with the service, when the waitstaff asked us what to drink, i can instantly sense it he was not pleased to learn we were ordering water... he was not friendly and seem like trying to rush us to leave. It was not a good feeling. Although it was on mother's day but they were not busy, i saw empty tables, not sure what was the rush! I've been there many times this is the first time I had bad experience.

The setting was elegant and the waitstaff attentive. However, I was disappointed with the food. I had the sampler consisting of a bland tuna salad sandwich, a tiny cup of good chicken tortilla soup, and a very small cup of fresh fruit. We were there early before it got busy, so the noise level was tolerable. For ladies who like to shop and eat, it's fine as long as food isn't the main attraction. You pay for the location, but I'd rather eat better food for less elsewhere.

Food was good. Kids choices maybe a bit too healthy? My daughter got a cheese quesadilla, but it was made w/ whole wheat tortilla so she hardly touched it. Perhaps better to have one "healthy" options for kids. Come on...they're kids! The service was OK at best. Server could have been a bit more attentive. We will still return, but expect better from NM. They should strive to overwhelm customers with service.

  • Lunch at Mariposa is a "must-do"
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 3/1/2014
Lunch at Mariposa is a "must-do" Texas tradition. "Moms and daughters" and "Ladies lunch" at Mariposa when shopping at Neiman's are a Texas tradition. I started going as a young girl with my Grandma. The complimentary famous chicken broth starter and monkey bread are the best. Great menu with variety, still the old favorites, but heart healthy selections, as well.

the service was excellent and the drinks we ordered were great but the food was subpar I have had better steak at texas roadhouse. I love the place though real nice and great for brunch. The filet lacked flavor, I ordered it medium and half of it came well done the other side was rare and it had fat on it, a large chunk of fat. the fries were great and my wife was somewhat satisfied with the lobster ravioli. my son did not like the pasta with cheese. I just don't believe that the prices match the quality of food. I will not be coming back or recommending to anyone.

Met with a client of mine for lunch and we both found everything to be spot on. We were greeted very warmly, and our waitress was simply a pleasure. We both had the French Rose` which was absolutely stunning and the lobster cobb salad was just what we wanted. The kitchen even provided me with sliced apple drizzled in orange juice to replace bread for me as I am Celiac. My client and I were able to discuss business but found ourselves just enjoying the afternoon in this lovely restaurant. Will definitely return.

My mom and I had a terrific lunch at Mariposa. We had enough room at our table to put our collection of shopping bags out of the way and relax. The staff and waitress were friendly and attentive to our needs. The menu was varied and had healthy choices. The noise level was low and we could easily have a conversation. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable part of our day out.

Ive been dining at Neiman Marcus for decades w/ my mother. A great ladies lunch on a Saturday. But this particular day, where I was introducing my cousin, a recent Atlanta transplant, to Mariposa, I was disappointed. We had the special, tea sandwiches. It was described as tea sandwiches w/ deviled eggs. When we got the plate there were no deviled eggs and the sandwich looked like the were cut up with a butter knife. They tasted ok, but the presentation was awful. I almost forgot to mention the brown slimy lettuce in my salad. I guess with all the great restaurants in Houston, my expectations are pretty high. But this IS Neiman Marcus. Of course we will be back, service was great, I think they were a bit off that day.

I met a good girlfriend here for a late lunch. We made a reservation for 1:30. I was running late but she was on time. Unlike other restaurants, they sat her even though I was not there. The food was delicious and our waitress was very helpful. I was having a difficult time deciding between the crab cake salad and steak. The waitress suggested the crab cake and I absolutely LOVED IT!!

Had lunch here and ordered the $14 soup, half tuna pecan and fruit cup. The soup tasted very acidic, like tomato juice/sauce right out of the can. My sandwich was bad too. The bread was dried out and the tuna tasted funky. The only thing I was impressed with was the tiny portion of fruit, which had a nice variety of fruit in it. The roll with strawberry butter they bring to your table was good too. Advice to restaurant...throw out the old bread, add some more pecans, lose the strange dressing in the tuna, and add some cream to the soup!!! Service was good but the food makes the place! Will never go here again.
