Marion Street Cheese MarketOutdoor Seating is AmazingThe outdoor dining area at Marion Street Cheese Market is amazing! It's covered and has fans and heaters. The only bad part to the outdoor seating is that the trains going by can be kind of loud. The food is incredible and the service is top notch!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal treasureIt was our first time at the Marion Street Cheese market and we arrived at a low traffic time (about 5:45 on a Saturday). The ambience was nice, nothing super elegant or fancy, but appropriately charming. Our waiter seemed very knowledgeable and made excellent suggestions for us. And the food was very, very good. I'm not sure our every experience will be as pleasant as our first, but my husband and I agree that we will definitely be going back. We're actually kind of baffled by how long it took us to discover this local treasure.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodie heavenWhere to even begin? My friends and I ordered a bunch of different items to share. They brought the food out as it was ready, and we had a delicious feast!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMexceptional foodOne of the best meals we've had in a long time. Was there for dinner. Definitely will be back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding foodIt's hard to describe the unique way MSCM prepares the food. The taste and presentation are both impressive and don't compare with most suburban restaurants. The cheese, wine and chocolate selections in the market area of the store are a bonus. This is one of my favorite places to go - the menu changes (and there's good and bad points to that --- a favorite is gone, but forced me to select something else that was just as impressive and tasty!). The service was a bit slow this time around, but we were with friends and truly had time to enjoy our drinks, dinner and conversation without feeling rushed in the least. Our table was probably the least desirable, but still wasn't "bad", just lacked a bit of te ambience had we been further back.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMneighborhood spotvery friendly, accommodating servers/hosts, excellent live jazz5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAll in all, we had a fantasticAll in all, we had a fantastic time at Marion Street. We drank a lot of great beer and ate 3 flights of cheese along with a smattering of interesting snacks. The food was creatively presented, thoughtful, and truly delicious. The green, locally sourced angle is icing on the cake. Oh, which brings me to dessert. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed dessert out so much. The portions were large, the flavors super interesting, and just all around delicous. Our service was a little spotty. We'd lose the server from time to time, but the food came out quickly, and we didn't mind having time to chat between flights. You should go. We're absolutely coming back!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been loving this placeI've been loving this place ever since it was just a cheese shop.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLOVED the food. Menu isn'tLOVED the food. Menu isn't extensive, but changes on a regular basis and food is unique - hard to describe, but the four of us all thought our selections were fantastic. The dessert was outstanding (as well as the cheese flight we had as an appetizer).4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMarion Street Cheese MarketThis was our 4th visit to the Marion Street Cheese Market. Unlike our last visits, we stuck to cheese, appetizers and booze. Not to say that I don't like the courses, but there is enough cheese and enough appetizers to keep you busy (and full) for some time. Speaking of which, the cheese we had, and the beer/wine were all superb. The wait staff was very friendly, though hovering maybe a little too much (just a little, he was mostly great). The waiter, helpers and bartender were all very knowledgeable and their suggestions for cheese and wine were spot on. We'll definitely keep coming back. Might even buy something from the store, which seems to run a brisk business too.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent cheese and wineExcellent cheese and wine selections, to eat in and to take home. We will continue to keep going back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA Marvelous Restaurant in Oak ParkThis is a marvelous place in Oak Park, with the bistro on one side and cheese market on the other. You walk in through the store and you are met with the great smell of many cheeses. It makes it feel very inviting and cozy. The bistro section is just to the side. It's tastefully decorated, but without over-focus on ambiance that we often find in the city's restaurant row. The focus here is food and wine, both done with a great success. The times we've been there we started with delicious cheese and meat flights and none of the entrees disappointed. We travel to Oak Park regularly and I think this is going to become our dinner destination when there, although this place is worthy of a special trip.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can always expect interestingYou can always expect interesting and delicious food here. From the caramelized onion aioli on the Indy Pork sandwich to the terrific $4 specialty draft beers ($4 on Tuesdays!) everything is yummy! Lunch is a real treat in the comfortable room and you're never rushed. Good idea to make reservations as it's popular with locals and tourists.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent selection of cheese,Excellent selection of cheese, pates; nice range of wines; reasonable prices.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Wine Selection & ServiceMarion Street is both a full-service cheese shop and moderately stocked wine seller. The retail part of the store also has tastings and treats that make it worth dropping by for a quick wine-and-cheese (and baguette!) purchase.
The restaurant is in the back, and we had wonderful service on a fairly busy Friday night. When I misordered my wine, the waitstaff and bar personnel took it in stride and made good. The food was excellent, above all the carefully prepared and presented salad. In all, a great, moderately paced bistro-esque atmosphere. Definitely recommended.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a large group andWe were a large group and the Marion Street Cheese Market was very accommodating and a great place to go! I have already recommended it to a friends as great place to go on a date. The cheese flights are a must.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAs usual, we loved our dinnerAs usual, we loved our dinner at MSCM. We were completely impressed by the buffalo cauliflower. I enjoyed my fish and chips. M loved her pork chop. We both loved our drinks. We highly recommend it.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAs a vegetarian I had plentyAs a vegetarian I had plenty of food options. Each dish had at least one extra special ingredient that differs from most brunch menus. The prices weren't cheap, but I certainly wouldn't consider this place to be expensive either. I cannot wait to go back for lunch. The trek to Oak Park from Andersonville was well worth it.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AM
