MareaFresh fabulous ingredientsDid the 4 course tasting menu. Got a chance to try a little of everything. Ingredients were fresh, wines were superb. Can't wit to go back5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable, wonderful, delicious,Memorable, wonderful, delicious, beautiful, mouth watering, addictive, five star service5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dining experienceRead the reviews on this restaurant and thought I'd take my Mum for dinner on Mother's Day. It was a dinner to remember. The food was incredible, wine excellent and service outstanding. Highly recommend to anyone.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingThe dinner was outstanding. The sepia crudo (aka squid sashimi) may be a bit of fusion but I prefer it to the Japanese version. The fusilli with octopus and bone marrow are a great creation. The branzino (for two) was done to perfection. I liked each of the three cheeses. In the end we were full. Wine list has something for everyone, form 2 to 5 digits. We found a white Ornellaia which went famously with our meal. The tables are reasonably sized and spaced. We were seated next to the service cupboard, but that was not a distraction. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The total price of $350 for two fixed-price dinners and wine, before tax and tip, was in my mind eminently reasonable. I would go back in a heartbeat.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurantI enjoyed a great lunch there - lots of selection and the food was great.
The location of the restaurant is very convenient and it set up in a beautiful place.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFancinessPortions were small, but that's what you would expect from a prix fixe course.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFlorence in NY!Marea is simply one of the best, most gorgeous Italian restaurants in NY. The setting -- just on Central Park South off of the Time Warner Center, can't be beat. The tables are well spaced and the look is quite wonderful. Service is outstanding. While not inexpensive, Marea offers some amazingly interesting dishes. For starters you cannot top the octopus appie ---- huge, with delectable smoked potatoes; My buddy had a seafood app that was also good. We both had pastas -- I reveled in the Duck ragu --- flavorful, fresh and delicious. He had the Pipette -- shrimp pasta that was out of this world. We had Proseccos, a nice Dolcetto and desserts and cappuccinos. Then on to Carnegie Hall --- what a night! Tough reservation, but worth it!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!I had given up carbs, but the homemade fusille with duck were AMAZING. I ate the entire plate. The Octipus was excellent!! Will recommend without reservation!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Service is slow. The food is excellent.
The service has a lot of room for improvement. It took too long to get to our table. They could have offered us a drink in the bar. Time between each dish is more than acceptable,5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was one of the most awesomeThis was one of the most awesome restaurants I have ever been to. Everything was perfect.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWell worth it!After reading all the hype about Marea, it truly lived up to its expectation! Food was worth all the praises! My favorite was the Octopus with Bone Marrow! Excellent dish!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of My All Time Favorites!Amazing food, drinks, and service. Great Atmosphere. Love Marea!!!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent wonderfulnessAttentive without being stuffy. The crudo, seafood, and pasta are excellent. Had the four course dinner (well priced at $99-with certain choices adding an additional $8-$30). A good wine list with several moderately priced choices. The room is pretty and fairly quiet--well spaced tables allow for conversation. Every visit here has been a pleasure.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful Italian SeafoodLovely intimate restaurant. Great service. Beautiful food. Amazing.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesn't get better than thisFrom the greeting by the host to service of the cheque, this was hands-down one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Mind you, it's not the most inexpensive restaurant in Manhattan, but you definitely get what you pay for... The wait staff and sommelier are knowledgeable, polite, attentive without being obtrusive and friendly offering suggestions on what turned out to be the best parts of the meal. Bravo!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMworth every pennyMy girlfriend and I had her birthday dinner at Marea and it was everything I had hoped for and more. The food was exquisite and the service was amazing! They even brought my girlfriend a (free) dessert with a birthday candle and an edible "happy birthday" sign on the dessert plate. The server was right on top of things and the wine experts were very helpful since their wine list is pages long.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmaizing restaurantThe service was amaizing, Mark the waiter chose our food and we were surprised wirh so good food!! All the dining recommendations were accurate. I had the crab appetizer and tagliata steak. Both were outstanding. We shared a reasonably priced Vermentino that paired well with everyone's choices. We also shared the chocolate strata for desert. it was so enjoyable to dine at a leisurely pace, converse, and feel like it was a "dining experience". I'm already planning my next visit.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the Best Meals...Our meal at Marea was exceptional. We both did the 4 course tasting menu and found each course to be really well composed... incredibly layered flavors with beautiful touches on every plate. The braised octopus bone marrow fusilli pasta is a must try dish! Fish is perfectly cooked, or in the case of the crudo perfectly prepared. We loved the desserts as well. A great meal from start to finish and well deserving of the Michelin stars.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dinnerI took my wife to Marea for her Birthday and we had such great time there. The food is outstanding and so was the service.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I arrived halfMy wife and I arrived half hr early the bar was filled so they worked extra hard to get us seated.Even though the restaurant was crowded the service was quick and smooth. And if you book on open table you can avoid the mad rush to book exactly one month ahead.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful, luxurious dining.Beautiful, luxurious dining. Perfect for special occasions. Amazing seafood, out of this world dry aged sirloin. Very expensive.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location. Food wasGreat location. Food was very good and service was excellent.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThinking this would be a 2ndThinking this would be a 2nd rate "Le Bernadin," I begrudgingly agreed to meet my wife here pre-Carnegie. She has been here before for business and although she was impressed then, we were both delighted with our meal at Marea. In fact, this dinner superseded our more recent experiences at Bernadin in both cuisine and the impeccable service at Marea. Definitely worthwhile.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazing! A placeAbsolutely amazing! A place to eat good food and star gaze!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW!! Absolutely fantastic.WOW!! Absolutely fantastic. Warm, elegant setting. The room oozes sophistication. Interesting menu. The octopus was superb. We had two seafood based pastas that were excellent Service was gracious and efficient. The wine list is encyclopedic with many expensive options. There are a number of under 100 dollar choices as well.
Marea is expensive, but you really do get what you pay for. Can't wait to go back4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDon't miss the Bombolini!Dining at Marea is an experience not to be missed! I was attending an event following dinner so had only 1.5 hrs to enjoy the impressive prix fixe menu. The service was expertly efficient, personal and impeccably timed to provide a relaxed atmosphere. The enjoyment of raw and cooked seafood is a dining prerequisite, although the lamb agnolotti was exquisite. The red snapper entree was prepared perfectly in a European style that featured a delicious crisp skin.
A mouth-watering offering for the final "dolci" course was Bombolini, highly elevated sugared "donut holes" accompanied by tiny bowls of warm chocolate and honey. The prix fixe menu is an affordable choice at $99 (before tax & gratuity).4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was tasty, the presentatioThe food was tasty, the presentation, magnificent. And the speed to prepare such plate is incredible.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMPre Fixe menu was excellent.Pre Fixe menu was excellent. Celebrating my son's birthday and he really enjoyed his meal and the ambiance. We also received a big greeting from Micheal White. Service, food and cocktails spot on.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMClose a big deal, want to celebratePower place for food. Professional atmosphere Wonderful food. They don't rush you but it is serious money to eat there4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat seafood. But some dishesGreat seafood. But some dishes were slightly less than outstanding. In particular the brodetto was not a real " adriatic" brodetto. The Chef take resulted in an unbalanceddish of wonderful seafood mixed at the table witha seafood reduction a bit too concentrated andsalty, and the result was unbalanced. Still, very good, and the best sweetest scallop i ever had4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a birthday lunchThis was a birthday lunch -- we did not mention it -- but we were given an extra dessert with a "Happy Birthday" in a chocolate bar which made a delightful ending to a delicious lunch.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Every mouthful is a delight. The set lunch has lots of choices and is reasonably priced considering the incredible food.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe usually go to Marea toWe usually go to Marea to dinner, when is much more cozy and the ambiance is more classy, less noisy than sunday brunch, when the food is superb as always but the service is not so attentive, but even so is a great option for sundays, I do recomend for a casual lunch with family or friends.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our second time atIt was our second time at Marea, our son has just engaged and we decided to have a small celebration among four of us. We had prixfix lunch menu. The food, wine and desert all were excellent. we are looking forward to going there whenever we visit New York.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was perfect. TheEverything was perfect. The calamari was tender with great flavor. The tagliatelle with seafood was delicious with a bit of a kick. My main course-- the whole Bronzino-- best I've ever had. It came with 4 tasty sauces but it was amazing on its own. Dessert was beautiful and delicious-- chocolate, coffee, salt?-- YUM!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great serviseOur party had the 6 course tasting menu. The food was wonderful. The best scallops and the best octopus I think I have ever had. We all had a wonderful time. Our server took great care of us. She even “went the extra mile” as one of the people at our party cannot hear out of his right ear, so she remembered to talk to him into his left ear for the night. Something small, but something most people would not bother to remember. Next trip to NYC we will be back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect dinner almost.A perfect dinner almost. I chose the risotto which was not the best pasta on the menu.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday late night delight.Marea continues to be excellent in every way and is a delight. Comfortable, elegant but casual and elegantly designed in one of Manhattan's most congenial and pleasant rooms. Subjectively viewed it has one of the best menus in the city and the reality lives up to what one reads on the menu page. The service is efficient, and polite: the only criticism being that it has become infected with the current habit of over.explaining in "learnt by rote" language every dish as it is presented when one does, after all, usually(!), remember what one has ordered and why! All in all Still a great favourite maintaining the highest international standards.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
