Chef Marc Orfaly is at it again. He's already established himself as a master of traditional French cuisine at Pigalle, his acclaimed bistro in Boston's theater district. Marco Cucina Romana is his new passion. Located in Boston's historic North end, Marco features the cosmopolitan cuisine of Rome… while paying homage to its menu regional influences. the menu is built on a foundation of simple, fresh pastas and antipasti, as well as healthy dose of grilled meat, fish and poultry dishes. "We had a wonderful dinner. This is REAL Italian food, not one of the Americanized versions that readily line Hanover Street. There is no "kid's menu," but we brought our two pre-teens and there were several items on the menu that anyone would enjoy. The pasta was perfect, the vegetables were plentiful and treated with respect, nothing was overcooked or covered in goo: fresh and simple seems to be the motto. The waitstaff is friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. This intimate, 2nd-floor jem sits above all the hustle and bustle of the popular North End, and I will recommend it to all traveling to Boston."

"We enjoyed our meal very much. The charcuterie was exceptional and the service was excellent. The entree were very good, although the osso bucco needed more cooking time. The broccoli rave was amazing. The only thing preventing a higher score on the ambiance was too much noise. Otherwise the dining room was lovely and we had a very nice table by the window to best watch the entertainment that is Hanover street on a Saturday night."

"Lovely little spot on the 2nd floor so if you get one of the few tables by the window you can look down on what is happening in the North End. Tried them out for Restaurant week, and will definitely go back."

"We've dined many times, the kitchen was very backed up and we waited at least 45 minutes for dinner, but we love Marco, and we weren't in any particular rush, so that was okay, wouldn't want that to happen every time, however."
