A word from Marche aux Fleurs
The Marche aux Fleurs is the farmer's market in the south of France. We have taken this name for our restaurant because we base our cuisine on the seasons and the best the local farmer's markets have to offer. Our produce is locally farmed, our seafood is wild and sustainable, and our meats are range-fed. These ingredients comprise the selections on our menu, and the flavors are clean and expressive. Diner Reviews
  • "Have been coming to Marche for years, always a great spot. This was a BAD experience. Noise level excessive. Waiter gave very poor service. Food not as good as used to be, items were heavily salted. Would hesitate ever recommending to anyone in future."

  • "We enjoy each of our dining experiences at Marche Aux Fleur whether it is a regular dinner or for special occasion such a birthday, anniversary or Valentine's Day. Appreciate the restaurant keeps track of our visits and our orders and that they acknowledge our return visits. We feel very much at home at this gem of a place that reminds us of a bistro in Paris and France. The food is always well prepared with creativity and freshness. The portions are the right size for us. Their wine list is excellent with a cross section of domestic and foreign that complements the food. Service is very attentive, ambience is cozy, comfy and conversations can be held at a moderate tone. Overall, a very relaxing atmosphere for dinner."

  • "This restaurant was a real uneven experience. My husband and I thought most of the appetizers were very good but found the "famous" hamburger far below our normal SF experience. The home made bun was very good but too small for the large, very big burger. I ask for medium and I was given rare. Even when it was cook properly it was tasteless and bland. The accompanying sauted onions were a nice touch but did not have much flavor. Just not a memorable burger, hence the low food rating. Atmosphere was okay but the place was very cold and I wasn't the only one as most of the other dinners were wearing sweaters or other clothing over their "summer" outfits.......I doubt we would come back again...."

  • "One word "Delicious", and we are very picky but everything was fresh, high quality, and amazing preparation."

  • "Everything was fabulous. We had a negroni that made with sake instead of gin that was great. Light and refreshing. We had the gnocchi with mushrooms that was absolutely to die for. Very light and creamy with just the right seasoning. Our entrees were delicious. We had the poached halibut, sea scallops and the steak. Each entree was perfectly presented and very tasty. The bread was home made by Holly and the dessert was also made by Holly. We recommend the restaurant for anyone who enjoys good food and who enjoys great atmosphere."

  • "The food was delicious in this charming restaurant; I felt like I was in the French countryside. The menu had a cosmopolitan flavor with both French and Italian options. We split the chevre salad and the portions were perfect. The bacon and goat cheese topping was very tasty! I ordered the cassoulet and my husband ordered the chicken. We were quite happy with our choices. And don't miss the flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Sublime!"

  • "We went here for Valentines day and they had a pre-fix four course menu. The most memorable dish was the scallops, they were by far the best scallops that I have ever had and now I compare all others to those. But my fiance's short rib was to die for as well. The service was great, perfectly in sync with us and very helpful in recommending an amazing wine on their extensive wine list. We will definitely be going back to try their regular menu!"

  • "Somewhat disappointed. I had been at MAF before and the food was better than this experience. Also, I felt that the cost was too high for the quality of the food."

  • "We have been eating at Marche aux Fleurs in Ross when in Marin for years. It has an excellent menu, superb chef, fabulous bread (which they bake) and a friendly, competent service team. Atmosphere is informal, and most diners are from the broader neighborhood, but it is definitely worth a trip. Husband/wife team just get better and better."

  • "As always, the food, service, and ambience were outstanding! My wife and I LOVE to eat at this neighborhood gem ... it is always a great experience."

  • "Very nice Ross local spot with good food and charming atmosphere. Everything, including the service, bread, food, and wine were very good but not "outstanding". Although the flourless chocolate cake (order 25 minutes in advance) was truly outstanding and delightful. As Chardonnay drinkers, the California selections totaled two starting at $57 for an unremarkable bottle, so it may be a good idea to bring your own. (But they do have several French Chardonnays, if you like them.)"

  • "We couldn't have been happier with our excellent experience here Saturday night. It was our first time and found the varied menu choices all enticing, ingredients were fresh and seasonal and prepared with an experienced hand. We will definitely be back often now that we've found this hidden treasure at a great price point and with such lovely and knowledgable service. Wine offerings are well edited and priced to enjoy. Reservations advised as it was filled, although it was raining so the charming outdoor area was not open."

  • "Greets by the owner, Holly. Great service from our favorite sever, Peter. Great local food from Dan and his folks in the kitchen. My bride and I had the beet salad, the raviolo, the scallops and the sorbets from the fixed choice menu. Wonderful. I gave up wine for February so I didn't try any suggestions. Big fun! Turns out this was their 13th anniversary. Must have taken guts to OPEN on a big holiday meal."

  • "This was our first visit; we would probably return. The food is quite good, rather unique in fact. As I am very fond of salads, I was disappointed to see just 2 or 3 choices. My sole was perfectly done and the addition of kumquats to the sauce was spot-on--what an original take! Another guest had Mary's chicken and the breast was beautifully prepared, moist and tender. A third guest's vegetarian tart was good except the pastry crust was too thick, not light and crispy and thus he left most of it. The cheese assortment is superior to most and each cheese is served with a spot of either fig or membrillo or another enticing condiment (I imagine this changes as the cheeses change). If you order the hot lava cake dessert, allow 20 minutes."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed this evening at March aux Fleurs very much. Food was excellent for all three courses that we enjoyed and the service was spot on. Server recommended an excellent Spanish wine for us with limited information of what we like. Only drawback was the noise level was a bit high, but I will highly recommend to friends."

  • "As always Marche aux Fleurs présents well-prepared food from their seasonal menu featuring mostly locally grown and raised foods. The owner-chef always seems to be working the kitchen. I think a few of us erred on ordering, with some minor disappointment. Next time I'll go back to their great duck confit."

  • "Marche aux Fleurs has good food, but it can also miss just a little bit. Our appetizers (French onion soup and a gem lettuce salad with fresh crab) both fell into the just miss category. A halibut entree was very good. The restaurant is definitely a neighborhood gem, but I think it falls short of a destination restaurant. The temperature has been a bit on the cool side the last couple of times we've been there. The noise level has been fairly high."

  • "My only complaint about this restaurant--and it's not very critical-- is the fact that they didn't have a full bar with craft cocktails, etc. Other than that, as pretty close to perfection as you can get."

  • "I had heard great things and wanted to try this place. Decided to give it a shot on Christmas Eve. Despite the limited menu, which I knew and realized was needed due to the volume expected, the food was great! The staff was very kind and pleasant too. I also thought was the decor was lovely. But the noise was unbearable. It was chaos with two large parties. We ate quickly then left. What a disappointment. I will try it again when it's not a holiday. I had family go on the same night before and they raved about or I would not have done it."

  • "This was not our first evening at Marché aux Fleurs and it certainly will not be our last. They went our of their way to make my husband's birthday special and our waiter was fabulous with our two kids. The food was delicious, the wine list excellent and the ambience relaxing but still elegant. Overall, a fabulous dining experience. Thank you!"

  • "The food was spectacular. Just loved it. It was a little dark in the restaurant that's my only critique which is so minor. Maybe it was the corner we were in. But overall, sensational food. The faro risotto was incredible and the avo tuna appetizer was just sensational. Thank you! We'll be back."

  • "Nice cozy atmosphere, but the noise level was far too loud to hold a cozy conversation. The majority of the dishes were well prepared but the steak special was quite chewy. Our service lagged especially at the start because we had no beverages and no bread, until our appetizer arrived. Might be worth it if the weather were nice and you could get a table outside."

  • "WE have been here several times and it never dissappoints. Great food, great little town, and the locals seem to know they are letting you in on a little secret by welcoming you to their cozy dining spot. Room for less than fifty and every seat taken, but our waiter, she was so attentive. Great Experience"

  • "What they do here they do perfectly from the appetizers to the coffee. We never have the slightest concern that dinner will be anything less than perfect. We can be sure that anyone we take to Marche aux Fleurs will come away saying they've had a truly memorable meal and always in the good sense."

  • "We have been several times to Marche aux Fleurs and fell in love each time with the lovely outdoor patio dining, outstanding service and delicious food! Can't wait for our next visit!"

  • "An unassuming location in the middle of Ross, this gem is welcoming and charming. Service was excellent and the menu is a daily creation of the chef. The wine list is not extensive but is paired to compliment the days menu. We'll be back."

  • "This was my first experience at Marche aux Fleurs and it was delightful. The food was very good and arrived in just the right intervals. Our server was sweet, attentive and accommodating. We chose to bring our own bottle of wine and the cork disintegrated when it was removed so our very resourceful server decanted and strained it for us. I think it would be lovely to sit outside in warmer weather and will be back to try that sometime. Overall it was exactly what I was looking for to celebrate the end of a very stressful period, and the only downside was the noise level during the busiest part of the dinner rush."

  • "We have a go-to restaurant for special occasions (in this case a wedding anniversary), but wanted to try something new this year. Marche aux Fleurs set the stage for a perfect evening, with a charming atmosphere and delicious food. Unique ingredients created delicious dishes that we both savored. Friendly staff shared a genuine enthusiasm for the dishes we ordered and helped with wine pairings. We're still talking about the food, especially the Marcona almonds with lavender salt (mouth watering!), the farro risotto with poached egg (delicious), and the warm chocolate cake -- well worth the wait and gave our bellies time to settle."
