A word from Marcela's Creole Cookery
Marcela's Creole Cookery opened in 2008 featuring authentic New Orleans cuisine as well as other cajun dishes. The restaurant is a partnership between Anthony McDonald, who brings 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry in New Orleans as well as many of his family's recipes, & Marcela Fuenzalida, who adds five years experience as co-owner of a restaurant along with 25 years in the financial industry.

Marcela's Creole Cookery's authentic creole flavors & outstanding service has received local & national recognition, placing it amongst Seattle finest locally owned restaurants. In 2009 Marcela's Creole Cookery was honored with a menu exhibit at The Southern Food & Beverage Museum in New Orleans for bringing authentic Creole flavors to the Pacific Northwest in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It has also received four star reviews from several local publications in the Seattle area as well as the The Food Network Magazine.

Diner Reviews
  • "Everything here seems well-made. There is more than one New Orleans cuisine style, of course, and the gumbo, for example, was not our favorite kind, seemed a bit bland. But the crawfish dishes were excellent: a crawfish pie in a nice crust and a crawfish sauce atop tender catfish -- just really good,"

  • "Wonderful spot for the best creole cooking outside Louisiana. The dishes were perfectly prepared, and arrived piping hot. The fried alligator with the 2 dipping sauces was in itself worth going for. We actually arrived fairly early (well ahead of our reservation), and the folks there graciously seated us without a wait. I highly recommend Marcela's. I cannot wait to get back and visit."

  • "Despite having a limited menu, the food was fabulous! There were four in our group and we all had bites of each other's dinners and it was ALL delicious! On the negative side: our waiter was super friendly, but the restaurant was short staffed so I think he was responsible for the whole place and the food took quite a while to be delivered and we had to track the server down a couple of times."

  • "I couldn't be more happy with our dining experience at Marcela's. I'm a transplant from the south and have had some authentic creole cooking in Louisiana, and Marcela's was just as savory and delicious as any memory I have. My wife and I had dinner there on our anniversary and she loved it. So happy to have found this gem!"

  • "I love Creole food, and this was by far the best I have had outside of New Orleans. I missed lunch, where they offered the usual delicious lunch foods of Muffulettas and Po Boys. I love that they stop selling the Po Boys after 5 due to bread availability - it means they use only the fresh stuff! But dinner was superb. I had blackened red fish, crawfish pie (amazing), etoufee, and fried alligator. I regret I didn't try the gumbo but I already was over eating due to an inability to pick just one thing. I finished with bread pudding which was delicious. The owner made an effort to come out multiple times to check on me and even refreshed my Hurricane (stay away from these unless you want to get a big buzz on!). It is a must try place!"

  • "Delicious food at a great price, along with a fun, festive environment and friendly service. Save room for the bread pudding with whiskey sauce... trust me!"

  • "Overall, the food was excellent. We enjoyed both the catfish with crawfish sauce and the sampler plate. Lots of delicious options on both plates. Our only disappointment was the BBQ shrimp appetizer. We felt it was a bit overpriced $11 for six modest sized shrimp. Lots of seafood options on the menu which worked well as we had one pescetarian in our group. We will definitely be back."

  • "The evening did not turn out to be as we had hoped after reading the previous good reviews. We were a party of 6 and a 20% tip was added to our bill which we thought was a bit steep for this level of restaurant and service and not being informed beforehand. Food was just Ok but not special."
