Marc ForgioneSomething about it being delicious.My girlfriend and I went for an anniversary. It was right around the corner from the 1 train at Chambers so the pouring rain hardly phased us. We were greeted with what seemed like the only corner table in the restaurant. =) The waitress was attentive and explained every course to us. There was plenty of space between the tables (I hate being too crowed and hearing everyone else's conversation) The noise was reasonable.
We ended up both doing the full tasting menu with wine. Everyone raves about the Chili Lobster Texas Toast, and while that certainly was delicious, there are definitely FAR tastier things on the menu. The halibut was cooked perfectly. We left full and satisfied.
Cocktails were... eh. Not only were we seated at the best corner table, but Marc Forgione sent us a personal note congratulating us on our special day. This was followed by champagne and a wonderfully thoughtful dessert. Its these small, personal touches that truly made our night and shows the true sign of an expertly run restaurant. The food has soul and is grounded, while being creative and adventuresome. The fresh bread baking adds so much. The dining experience and food preparation showed extreme attention to detail while retaining a sense of familiarity and approachability. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at the restaurant last night and the entire staff, including a note from the chef himself, made us feel special, and as if they were all happy to celebrate with us. In short, thank you. We'll be back and we'll send friends. p.s. May 21, 20135/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAbove and BeyondI took my girlfriend to Forgione's for her birthday this week and not only was the food excellent as always but the staff went above and beyond. We showed up a little before five (our reservation was for 530) to a street that was closed off due to President Obama having a fund raiser across the street. The manager let us in and allowed us to have a couple drinks at the bar while we waited for dinner even though they weren't open yet. I can say that we had a wonderful dinner and the staff took very good care of us.

My wife and I were in NYC for my birthday and booked reservations ahead of time. Big fans of the cooking networks so quite familiar with Chef Forgione and his skills, so we were quite excited. The decor and setup was extremely inviting and relaxed. The service was spectacular. We asked our server for a lot of feedback on the dishes and he was completely honest with us in every aspect. Food was AWESOME to the point where my eyes rolled back in my head several times. Dessert was spectactular (Tiramisu rocks). To top is all off, Chef Forgione invited us to the kitchen to greet and chat for a bit.
