  • "loved the two bartenders and their creations (especially the watermelon-infused vodka drink with pink pepper), then moved to a table where we had a quirky, knowledgeable and pleasant waitress who helped with our ordering questions. Food was outstanding. don't miss the chicken for two- I'd go back and order it for one so I could savor the leftovers the next day! Tomahawk steak was great- the bone marrow could have used a bit more browning and some toast points, though. Raw tuna appetizer was transformative! Sheep's milk agnolotti could have used a little something- but overall great meal."

  • "The most basics keys to great food matter at Marc Forgione: seasoning and temperature. Had the tasting,every dish was properly seasoned and cooked. The hot food was hot, the cold station dishes at proper temps. Presentation was beautiful without compromising quality,which is the biggest problem in the food industry today. On top of that all, the food is downright badass. Favorite courses were the kampachi, lobster, ravioli, halibut, foie, BBQ oyster, semifreddo....obviously none of it sucked. Service is equally great. Wine recs are reliable, timing and attention were solid. Friendly, educated staff who know the food. Atmosphere is chic and casual, bar area very social. Will definitely go back."

  • "We were here on a hot evening looking for a light meal. The food here is on the heavy side, but most of its weight comes from the clever use of spices and herbs. The Kampachi tartar is wonderful, but the directions (yes, directions) on how to eat it, turns it into an unnecessarily fussy moment. The salad of mixed baby greens and cooked root vegetables is delicious and perfectly sized. We shared the chicken under a brick dish which was damn close to how it tastes in Italy, just more flavorful. The halibut dish is also quite good."

  • "Marc Forgione is a real neighbourhood gem, nice ambiance and the food is always very good (the chicken under a brick is a must) However the service needs clearly improvement. When I go to a place like my MF I do not want to get rushed through the menus not following up with finishing our wine selection for the various courses and ignoring the precise pronounced wishes of the guests. Bottle of Cava (USD 68,-) came to the table leakwarm same for the red wine (which was at least complimentary due to the many shortfalls in service) however again much too warm. Hence overall won't return to this place in the near future..."

  • "The food was absolutely delicious, but the prices were a little outrageous at times- more so on the appetizers where you literally got only a few bites worth of food. We had a fluke sashimi appetizer and a carbonara pasta appetizer that were fantastic. Sea bass and duck entrees were cooked perfectly and delicious. The dessert was the highlight of the night. Not only the best portion size for the price, but the pistachio cheesecake was the best cheesecake we'd ever eaten. We'd go back just for desserts. Servers were friendly (and compulsively folded your napkin whenever you got up to go to the restroom). Was a little darker in the room than I'd like it to be, but a fun ambience."

All other meals we had on the trip (including ones from fellow Food Network Stars Marc Murphy and Guy Fieri) paled in comparison. Thank you for such a memorable experience!!"

All of the servers are really nice, and try to make sure that your whole experience is extraordinary. It is more expensive that other places around, but it's totally worth it. Added special touches for her made it especially notable, including a welcome note and even a quick fly-by and drop off treat from the chef himself... not to mention the hand-signed welcome note!   • "This was my third visit to this restaurant in as many months and I use the word outstanding judiciously but it continually applies here. For such a hot spot, the staff couldn't be more warm, gracious and personable. The ambiance feels warm and intimate, unlike so many quality dining experiences in the city situated in cavernous spaces which feel either cold and impersonal or so loud you can't hear each other speak. The chicken dish is one of the best in NYC, period, and the inventive, unusually flavored Kampochi is not to be missed. Simply outstanding."

  • "Visiting NYC last week, I wondered into Marc's restaurant, knowing nothing about this gem- The food is incredible, and was only overshadowed by his wonderful bar and wait staff. Accommodating me, having made no reservations. as if I was a long time local friend and patron. I'm back in NY, and this time made reservations for a group of us. Marc and team again came through even better than before. Which was a tall task, having been super satisfied with my virgin voyage. Forgione is now on my top 5 things to do in NYC."

Its the right size, the ambiance is perfect for dates or grabbing food with friends, and the food is unbelievable. I am still thinking about the Halibut from Saturday and its the only thing getting me through this Monday. Highly recommend this place, its a must try!"

  • "My wife and I celebrated our birthdays at Marc Forgione, and had a great evening. From beginning to end, there was no flaw in any dish, each (both fish and foul) replete with color, textures and flavor. The Chili Lobster appetizer alone is worth the trip, and our mains (Halibut and Duck) were each among the best preparations we could recall!! This was some seriously good cooking. We'll be back in the fall (if not sooner) to see how he handles the next season."

They personalized a menu, gave a complimentary glass of champagne, and our server, Miriam made everything even better. The food was fantastic, my wife had the duck and I had the porkchop. Both of which was amazing. In addition, the presentation of the food made the night an experience. We will definitely come back as everything on the menu sounds appealing.   • "We did the Tasting menu with wine pairings and it was hard to pick a favorite course..Everything was spot on! Very hard to find a restaurant like this that just exceeds over and beyond what you hope for when you try out a restaurant for the first time..Everything I mean EVERYTHING from the expertly crafted cocktails to the amazing depths of flavor in the food courses and the perfect wine pairings we couldn't have been happier..Chef Forgione has a very well balanced menu with the best ingredients possible like unique foraged greens and herbs from Vermont..I can say I cant wait to go back My wife and I didn't want the courses to end...We already cant wait to go back!!"

  • "Both my friend and I agreed the best meal of our life! Everything they brought to out table was beyond amazing! The chili lobster is to die for! The halibut was out of this word amazing! If it was socially acceptable I would have licked the bowl! For desert we got the s'mores and a coconut dessert that I can only describe was like eating a tropical cloud.   • "I live in Chicago (which I feel is up there with the best of the best restaurants in this country) and so when I was in NY last week wanted to treat my mom to an upscale and highly rated restaurant (not to mention, I'm a bit of a Food Network nerd). Anyway, Marc Forgione's Tribeca spot did not disappoint. The atmosphere is a chic, neighborhood joint w/ upscale vibe (but not pretentious), service was very good, and food was delicious. We had the Kampachi to start -- melts in your mouth. I had the Black Bass (light, very good) and my mom had the Halibut, which was richer and very tasty. Pistachio cheesecake for desert, which was very different. Prices are a little expensive, even for New York standards, but you get what you pay for."

It started with champagne on the house and then Myriam helped plan a personalized tasting menu just for us and she paired a glass of wine for each dish. It ended with a delicious dessert where they wrote Happy Anniversary on the plate. The service, ambience and food were excellent. Would highly recommend."

  • "Considering prices at upscale venues, particularly those of celebrity chefs, it's easy to assume that if it costs more, the better the result will be. Marc Forgione is proof that an exciting, impeccable, thought- and taste-provoking food can be had at reasonable prices. A recent dinner was so memorable, it made our short list of Greats. When amazing bread and butter comes to the table -- Brioche with smoked Hawaiian sea salt and soft, spreadable herb butter -- you know the kitchen really cares. Do not miss the Foie Gras appetizer with roasted hazelnuts in honey, strawberries and aspic. Or the meltingly tender Berkshire pork chop that takes 4 days to prep. Complex flavors infuse this deceptively simple, creative menu. A "Must Go!""

  • "My background: I travel a lot & eat in many restaurants 5 days weekly. I love food shows. Food presentation: Excellent Taste: So-so Service: So-so - The dish was plopped on my table w/o description by the kitchen staff. Not fine dining at all! I'd like to know what I'm eating! Appetizer: Soft shell crab - I like salty food but this was too salty for my taste. Lime or lemon would've helped cut the saltiness. Main dish: Sea bass w/ 2 types of sauce - I liked it but the taste was ordinary. Dessert: Key lime pie w/ a side of grapefruit sorbet - This had a twist on the classic key lime pie. I liked the taste & texture but I bit on lime seeds. The grapefruit sorbet tasted like real grapefruit but it was bitter. Overall, I was disappointed."

  • "We had brunch here last Sunday. Our food was good but prices were expensive compared to what you get. We were most surprised by a mushroom omelette which was a special at $28. We asked about it twice because we couldn't figure out why- I could understand if it was jammed packed with morel mushrooms but porcini? The regular omelette was $14. I guess the value issue is why the place was quite empty compared to never being able to get dinner reservations. I love their food in general but there are better options for brunch. This is why it got 3 stars. "

  • "Some folks here were dressed to impress, others were in jeans and sneakers. It's a fun mix, but the food is the reason to get a rez. We were pleasantly surprised that the Chicken Under a Brick is available in a half portion, so my wife and I were able to try that (which a NY Times review said was the best dish here) and the black bass. Both were excellent, but the chicken will not blow your mind as I had hoped. Two pastas starters, one a special with white truffles, were both outstanding."

  • "Food was absolutely first rate, every member of the Forgione staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and amazingly personable. My girlfriend fell in love with the Halibut, and the octopus app followed by the ribeye was as mouth watering as I've had in the city. We cannot wait to now try each of Forgione restaurants. The bar is already set pretty high, yet I'm expecting every Forgione experience to be better than the previous."

  • "The two of us ordered three appetizers to share and one entrée each. The Kampachi and Octopus+Squid are great, but the Chili lobster is excellent. We had a bottle of Riesling, which was kept cool while we dined and our glasses were always kept full. For entrée, we had the Halibut and the Black Bass. Both were fresh and light. We finished our meal with five little cones of ice cream: chocolate with bacon, rum raisin, peanut butter, brownies, and calamansi."

  • "Recently my husband and I, along with another couple, visited Marc Forgione for dinner. We were there to celebrate my birthday, and it did not disappoint. When we arrived, our table was ready and we were seated immediately. On the table was a letter signed by the chef wishing me a happy birthday, and thanking us for choosing his restaurant to celebrate. The low lighting and unique decor gave the restaurant a great ambiance. The waiter greeted us immediately and was extremely knowledgeable on the wine list and the menu. They also provided a free birthday mango sorbet which was GREAT! Only complaint was the appetizer (ravaloi) and the broccoli rabe were both very salty. Other than that - great food, and great atmosphere! Would visit again!"
