Fine food, and good fun. I always enjoy this place. The one awkward thing about our evening was the hostess telling me on arrival that I did not have a reservation because it had been placed with an online service (OpenTable) that they had discontinued the day before. To the manager: even if you did discontinue your membership of OpenTable you should honour the reservations that were accepted prior to that date. Poor show. Happily, a table was found for us anyhow and we did enjoy ourselves. I see today that OpenTable indeed no longer lists Marben as a choice, so I guess she was not lying. Nonetheless I expect better courtesy from such an otherwise fine restaurant.

I've been to Marben's roughly 3-4 times now and it has never disappointed! The John's burger is the best burger I've ever had (compared to the Burger Priest etc.) and the rest of the menu is great also. I'm looking forward to my next visit back! Victor

We went early on a Wednesday night - it wasn't busy and we got a lot of attention from our server. Food was great though my wife was looking for duck (online menu) and had to settle for coq au vin instead as the menu had changed. I had black cod which was excellent. When we asked about wine we were encouraged to try Organized Crime, a small Ontario winery. We tried the Mischief white and Pipedown red - both were very good.

As a returning customer I have to say the food was not what it used to be. There was duck listed on the online menu and we were disappointed to not have that as an option when we got there. The beef and chicken was really good, the salad and fries were not remarkable.

My partner and I were seated in the back where many tables were put really close to each other and a long bench was shared on one side. I could've reached out and poked the person next to me if I wanted to. As a result of this, it was very loud and I could hear the conversations to the right and left of me. If one table for two was removed, I think I would've felt more comfortable when dining. We did enjoy the food though. Slightly disappointed in the lobster guacamole but the duck and burger were delicious. My boyfriend liked the creme brûlée as well. Our server was nice. It was the weekend before Hallooween so many servers were dressed up and it was very festive in that sense. Overall, it was a good experience.

I attended with 3 friends from out of town and had great friendly service from Ben our server, however the food came at different times due to kitchen, large party next to us that required a great deal of service. Ben was friendly and hospitable, but I noticed the serving staff was also required to make coffee, clean the coffee cups and etc. The wine list very poor and weak only a few good wines!! No great selection at all. Food was good very little salt which is great! Deserts were great. Menu weak and limited, needs more of a larger team to service those in the restaurant. Catering more to the 905 crowd.

Restaurant had a good feel. At times music too loud to talk but not a deterrent to go again. No food disappointments. We started with charcuterie which was really good & it just got better - lobster guacamole, tomato/beet salad, mushroom risotto, beef, duck. All excellent & great sharing plates! ,

I was quite impressed with my first meal at Marben. After very well-balanced apple, pear and organic greens salads (not too acidic, not too sweet), my partner enjoyed John's Burger with great crunchy fries, and I had the black truffle and wild mushroom risotto - as I told one of the staff there, I had several risottos in Rome and none came close to this one. We ended our meal with a lavender crème brûlée and a chocolate truffle dessert, both excellent. Good, reasonably-priced wines, many from Ontario; interesting cocktails; competent and friendly greeting and service; warm and casual decor; and the chance for me to have a great gluten-free meal - we couldn't ask for anything better.

One of my favourite dinner spots! Consistently outstanding menu. Dined at Marben a number of times now. My go-to spot. Local and seasonal menu. The meat is all butchered right there in the kitchen, which is pretty cool. I'm a Vancouverite living in Toronto and this place feels like a piece of home, but with a big(ger) city vibe. *Nice to see a few hard-to-get B.C. wines on the list too. The best burger in the city (voted so by folks more in the know than I, including Toronto Life magazine). The charcuterie is a constant and never disappoints.

It was me and my boyfriend's first time to Marben. We we quite impressed with the place. The menu was a little limited, but requested a different add on to my risotto dish. I was a little worried that the chef would be offended, but the server came back with a couple of suggestions. The meal was delicious. The only negative comment, would be how loud the restaurant was. We felt we were yelling at each other from across the table.

The food at Marben was wonderful. We were seated in the basement however, which wasn't the most ambient area. I feel that this area was recently opened and that the restaurant wasn't equipped to deal with the additional tables. Our main dishes did not come all at once (luckily we were game to share!), in fact we had finished one entire dish before the 2nd two came. Additionally, our coffee did not come until after we had finished our dessert. Our server was lovely and very apologetic, and attentive in all other areas, which is what makes me feel that the staff, through no fault of their own, simply aren't equipped to deal with the number of guests. I would probably go back to Marben, but would request to be seated upstairs.

Great food, exceptional service. Got oysters and cheese plate for apps, would recommend both. Would recommend the rib eye and duck entrees. Lobster ravioli was the weakest dish - very one sided and would not recommend (lobster dumpling + lobster reduction sauce = way too much lobster). Lavender creme brulee was spectacular!

We were in the neighborhood and just stumbled upon this lovely place through opentable. We decided to check it out and everything was absolutely delicious, from the local made maple balsamic for he bread to the duck confit all the way to dessert. The waiter was super attentive, and when I asked for details about their tea, which had a wonderful taste, he came back with a whole sheets worth of information so I'll be able to track it down for sure.

With the addition of new executive Chef Robert B, the menu can only get better. I tried one of the new desserts, a play on tiramisu: the calvados tiramisu, it's so refreshing & not overly sweet like most desserts but that's what happens when desserts are made in-house. I always praise establishments which host competitions and if you are in town over the summer you must come here for their Sausage League. They invite & pit Chefs from around Toronto to display their culinary skills.

Unbelievably good, fresh food. All the food is made with ingredients from farmers in a 100 mile radius of Toronto, and with that being said their menu changes a lot of the time but a few dishes (such as the delicious John's burger!!!) are always on the menu. The environment is quiet depending on where you sit, and the staff are all very knowledgable about the plates and what they're made with. Perfect for going out with the girlfriend/wife or even just going for a lunch, and it isn't too too expensive either (almost Milestone-like prices).

We loved our experience at Marben. We were seated in the basement- which at first, I was really bummed about, until we actually got down there and realized how cozy, cute, and very trendy it was. We loved sitting down there. The service was great- ordered three courses and all came out at a comfortable pace, letting us enjoy every course. The Ontario Pinot Noir was drank was delicious. The only thing negative I would have to say would be that the portions are very small. It seems like such a "hipster" place, with plaid wearing servers, and vintage credenzas housing the glassware, however, the prices are quite steep and the lobster ravioli literally came with 3 pieces. Other than that, the guacamole is a must, and the tiramisu was delish.

Reservations were made for 8:30pm, we were seated immediately. Beautiful, down to earth, decor, great lighting and ambiance. We ordered drinks, appetizers which arrived in a timely manner, but our mains took 1hour & 15mins to arrive from time of of our appetizers and came out separately (which we were warned about) however, my husband's main was luke warm at best, but he didn't return it. I had the John's burger, which was absolutely fabulous, a must order for anyone, juicy & flavorful. It was a busy night and our server was overwhelmed, as we saw most of his tables complaining to him about various matters. But overall we would return and highly recommend to anyone.

This restaurant was actually tapas type of restaurant where you're meant to share plates. I went with one other friend and we requested to sit by the chef's kitchen. I would highly recommend doing this if you're with a few people. It was great to see all the chefs in action! We split 3 dishes and 2 out of 3 were really good. The food was well prepared, quick and delicious. Smart flavour combinations and textures. Service was okay. Slightly less attentive than I would've liked given the price point. I get the whole food philosophy deal, but a bit of an eye-roller when the server goes on about the locavore ethos and you see oysters from the Maritimes and fish from BC. Silly, but I get their schtick. All that mattered was the food was great. Two people, four drinks, three courses each and the bill came to less than $190 after tax and tip. A great birthday night.

The plates are certainly designed for sharing and I think that the best experience would be to go with a group of four to maximize the variety and selection of tastes for everyone. I found the decor and design to fit well with the offerings on the menu and the general vibe of the staff. The food was excellent, with local sourced products and seasonal dishes that were expertly and beautifully prepared. None of the dishes we ordered were overpowering in taste, with everything nicely balanced on the pallet. The standout dish was the duck, beautifully cooked and finished with a stunning duck foie gras from Québec. I would highly recommend Marben.

The food was good. The burger very good. The server was slow and over-informative. We were hungry and didn't care that the vegetables were organic and cruelty free. We don't care what the local pig farmer feeds his animals or how long their meat is cured. We just want the food and would like it served in a timely manner. He didn't seem to get that. Nor could he pick up on our social cues that we wanted him to pick up the pace and lose the verbosity. I like the room and the rest of the staff seemed good. I think our guy was new.
