"A moderately attractive hotel restaurant venue. Nothing spectacular on the menu, but the food was well-prepared (my trout was properly filleted, a remarkable achievement!). We got to the Inn rather late, and we didn't want to drive back out into Ojai. This is a classic "captive audience" restaurant, in our opinion, just good enough to be the Inn's flagship dining spot, but not really competitive with restaurants that actually have to "earn their stars" in the outside world. Nothing specifically to complain about, but also nothing notable going on here. There are definitely better choices in and around Ojai at this tariff level!"

"Ojai Valley Inn is a special place. We were there for the weekend with a large group, but still managed to have a romantic dinner for two with a table by the fireplace. Others in our group were a large tables and had an equally good time. The main complaint was that the halibut was dry. The scallops, on the other hand, were perfectly prepared. The salads were fresh and flavorful. But I have to say that my favorite part of the evening was my before dinner cocktail, the El Jefe--a spicy tequila concoction that I cannot get out of my mind!"

"Lovely decor, good food, excellent staff. Our waitress Katy was particularly nice and professional, she bought us a glass of champagne when she learned it was our Anniversary. Front of house staff very helpful on a busy night (Valentine's Day); they made it easy to change tables at our request even though the restaurant was well-booked and busy. Special Valentine's Prix Fixe menu was superb, well-prepared, delicious, and very fairly priced. the main rooms are beautiful; an "overflow" room was drab. We suggest that the restaurant publish a seating plan online. Window tables and verandah seating provide magnificent valley views for daytimes and summer evenings."

"Food is good here. Service was outstanding. Make sure if you are going for a special occasion that you request the main dining room. They have a depressing attached room for overflow and it is beyond drab; no art, no view and loud music over the speaker system."

"The wait staff and kitchen were very accommodating. First, we asked to change the time of our reservation, and despite it being a very busy night, they agreed to our request. Then, we asked if they could prepare a wedge salad -- though it wasn't on the menu. The chef made a delicious 'modified wedge' using hearts of romaine, and it was truly wonderful. The presentation was lovely overall and the wait staff was attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant was very busy initially, and so the noise levels were quite high until the latter part of our meal when the crowd thinned. The colors and decor are very warm and inviting, and it is definitely a good choice for a special dinner when in the Ojai area or a guest at the resort."

"First, the good: The restaurant is beautiful with an intimate, understated mission charm and the wait staff is friendly and appropriated engaged. The bad: we were here for a New Year's Eve pre-fixe meal and the overall quality was that of mediocre banquet food. The lobster tail was chewy and overcooked; the filet clearly had been pre-cooked and finished off just before serving. Given the food quality, the meal was way over-priced and to top it off they charged $20 for a glass of Mumm's low-end champagne. We still tipped the wait staff 20% for their efforts."

"I expected very special food and was very disappointed - everyone at my table felt the food was at best OK and definitely not exciting. The presentation and service were good but the food was mediocre at best. Fish was dry, soup was bland, the veggies ok. It was Christmas - perhaps the chef was off? I won't be eating there again. I felt I paid a lot and received vey little."
