We went back here 3 times within a
5 day visit for lunches and dinner. The white bean soup is great, although I'm not seeing it on the menus online. We liked the Winter Squash Porridge so much that we begged Chef Tony for the recipe. And at dinner we enjoyed the pork chop with pear. The bartender was friendly and got creative making a drink off menu for us. Our waitress during our large group lunch was extremely friendly and accommodating. They have coloring for the kids and a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. I highly recommend eating or visiting the bar at Manzanita."

I have read negative reviews but
the four of definitely had a "5 star" experience. Wholeheartly recommend the Manzanita."

Fantastic food and service. WE
have eaten here several times and always great!"

Nice restaurant but very limited
menu considering the location and price"
Dined on 2/21/2014
Food was overall good. However,
less butter should be used for kid's plain pasta. My daughter's pasta with literally soaked in a soup of melted butter. It was quite gross. Service was mediocre for a normal restaurant, but horrible for the Ritz. We ate at 2:30 pm, when the restaurant was very slow, yet our server only came to check on us couple of times. We had to flag her down to get utensils, and our drinks were not refilled. Very disappointing experience."

We enjoyed our meal here very
much. The service was attentive and pleasant and the food was very good. They have a great selection of appetizers, some individual and some labeled as "for the table." Our only complaint is that we ordered a bottle of wine that was listed as costing $42 on the wine list that was on our final bill as costing $58. When we pointed this out to our server, she fixed it immediately. This has happened several times at other restaurants, which leads me to wonder if charging more for the wine than its listed price is a widespread practice."

We have eaten here many times and
unfortunately the food was a real disappointment - way too expensive for mediocre food quality."
Dined on 2/15/2014
This is a great date restaurant -
perfect for Valentine Day. There were a lot of families with young children also. However, the menu was limited in selection. The salads were unimpressive. The pumpkin souffle was outstanding."

We love going to this restaurant
every time we are in Northstar, but for the cost, you would think we would get better service. The food came out cold (a lasagna dish was actually frozen in the middle). We asked to have our bottle of wine decanted while we enjoyed our cocktails, and the waitress put the wine in the decanter and immediately poured everyone a glass. We would expect more from this restaurant. The food is decent, but not spectacular. The ambience is what you go for. It is a great location."

Manzanita is a wonderful
restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton. Last Fall we had a wonderful dinner at an amazingly reasonable price. When I called Manzanita directly for reservations around 8:00 pm, I was told the earliest table would be available at 9:00 pm. However, Open Table showed a reservation opening at 8:15 pm so we booked it and drove over from Tahoe Donner. We were seated upon arriving at 8:15 pm and the first thing we noticed was the substantially higher prices. Most entrees were $35 which was an increase of over 30% from our Fall dinner, so we just had more drinks to compensate."

Great restaurant in a spectacular
setting. Have never been disappointed. It's always the first reservation we make when visiting Northstsr"

We met friends who drove up from
Reno for lunch, and we skied part-time. Everything was wonderful. Our waiter was superb. I asked for a glass of wine with few sulfites (preservatives), and he knew immediately what to suggest. This was not true at another large-chain hotel in the area, where the "Sommelier" had no idea what wines had fewer sulfites, and refused to acknowledge that it was his job to know. The rotisserie chicken was superb, perfectly grilled, the squash porridge very tasty, the salmon salad melted in your mouth, and the burger perfectly cooked. I can't say enough about the entire staff--each person is friendly, but more importantly, very professional. There is no "attitude" in this establishment, which is wonderful."
Dined on 2/5/2014
As the only restaurant on the
property for a nice dinner it was good quality but not up to usual ritz standards. Wait staff was nice but distracted by other patrons coming to surrounding tables. We ordered the pork chop and brussel sprouts to split but specifically requested to bring an extra plate and we would split it. Got delivered split by the kitchen. They took it back and provided a new order as we originally requested. Remedied but waitress didn't seem to concerned. Food was very good."

One of the great things about the
Manzanita at the Ritz, Lake Tahoe is that it is only 5 minutes away. And! One can ski in for lunch or, on Mondays, everything is half off for registered locals, but the food and service remains at its high level."
Dined on 2/3/2014
The staff was great. Helped with
the surprise meeting the new in-laws and the new bride to be. Had a great time."

This was the fourth year in a row
that we vacationed at the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe and the fourth year that we enjoyed a number of meals at Manzanita, the hotel restaurant. Dinners were superb with exceptional food and wonderful service - very much a five-star experience. The only reason for one star less was brunch. The selection and quality seemed a bit off this year, though still quite delicious. Next time, we might skip breakfast, but we'll definitely be back for dinner!"
Dined on 1/17/2014
First time we had a terrible meal.
Food virtually uneatable. The Cod was fair but the Short Rib was unacceptable."
Dined on 1/8/2014
It must be one of the best
restaurants in Lake Tahoe area. Nice ambience, service and food."

We came here for Christmas break
and spent time with my parents and siblings without the kids. It was fun to be with family with great food an atmosphere that was beautiful. I was surprised how many people brought heir kids because it is a long time for dinner to come. The souffle was amazing and we all had a moment in time we will never forget!"

Thought the restaurant was lovely
as it's in the Ritz Hotel in Truckee. Food was good but not great for the reputation it has in the area. Also the food came out of the kitchen too fast, felt like they needed to turn the table. Felt rushed. The service was excellent and the waitress was very good."
Dined on 12/23/2013
This is the hands down best
restaurant in the Truckee, Northstar, North Shore area. Worth every dollar."
Dined on 12/16/2013
Best restaurant in Tahoe area.
Always make it a point to stop in when at Tahoe. Would even go there if in Bay Area"
Dined on 11/29/2013
The restaurant was to loud for us
but then we like a quieter place to eat. The waitress was awesome!!!! She help us pick a wonderful wine and shared her stories with us as we did with her. She presented us with a special dessert to celebrate our wedding. She was awesome. It was a wonderful meal!"
Dined on 11/9/2013
I took a friend here for her
birthday and the service and meal were outstanding. Kristen our server, was awesome! She recommended several items including the wine selection. Each course was delicious and prepared well. My steak and side was perfect to order. Joseph runs a nice business there. The kitchen was lively as was the bar. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I will be going back as soon as possible."

Have dined at Manzanita many times
since it opened. The food was very good early on and then it faded off into mediocrity. On our recent visit to Tahoe we were suprised to find the quality of the food had improved dramatically. After an excellent dinner our first evening we eagerly booked several more meals including a Sunday brunch. The food was delicious each time. Very much look forward to coming back on our next visit to Tahoe."

Service at Manzanita is
outstanding. Personable and attentive service, staff remembers us from previous visits including specific details about our family. We really appreciate the nice touch and gives us one more reason to want to return to the Ritz-Carlton. Reasonable exception requests were accommodated to the menu choices. We enjoyed our halibut entrees and the kids enjoyed their Shirley Temples. The almond olive oil cake was delicious, have not had a dessert like it in a long time - nice!"

Having dined here before, we knew
what to expect, but were blown away by this evening's experience! It started with the very gracious hostess given us a lovely table for two on the window, and continued through the entire dinner! Our waitress, Kristin, could not have been more professional, and at the same time, warm and friendly. Travis chose a delicious Italian wine for us, as he has done on our other visits. I had the beet and and bean salad and the scallops. A perfect meal! The scallops couldn't have been cooked better, and loved the homemade linguine as a side. My husband had the romaine salad and the English pea ravioli which melted in his mouth. We were thrilled with the surprise dessert for our 39th Anniversary!"
Dined on 9/22/2013
Was a little disappointed that
Traci desJardin is no longer affiliated with the restaurant. If we weren't staying @ the Ritz, I doubt I would have eaten there. It was good, not great."
Dined on 9/14/2013
We had a small group and had a lot
of fun. The Ritz is a great setting and the restaurant is lively, the staff is great, and the food is very good. I might not go out of my way to eat here but if staying in the hotel, I recommend it."
Dined on 8/31/2013
The restaurant is beautiful, with
reflective lighting meshing with pines and mountains. Loved the open kitchen with all the chefs in their tall white hats and crisp jackets. The waiter was professional and helpful and the food was delicious. Loved the crisp fries, first rate steak and beet salad. Great for a special occasion or romantic dinner. We'll be back!"
Dined on 9/6/2013
The food, the view, the setting,
and all presented w/excellent service....a favorite! We'll definitely return to Manzanita. They spoiled us and made for a perfect end to a long day of travel and settling in to the hotel. If we were local, I've no doubt our top list of ideas for holiday parties, romantic dinners, down to casual evenings out, would have Manzanita towards the top. Not to mention a little staycation with or without kids. Five star everything, and Patrick brought it all together, setting a professional and client-oriented mood w/his team at Manzanita. Thanks for making our memories of our night in Tahoe such that we'll be looking forward to coming back soon."
Dined on 9/3/2013
We were lucky enough to be staying
here, but even if we weren't, I'd say this location and restaurant are worth the visit. The food was outstanding, service attentive, and the view is of nature. The restaurant itself is lovely as well! No problems w/special detail requests, and all were met. We'll most certainly be back."
Dined on 9/3/2013
I booked a room at the Ritz
Carlton and the congerie recommended this restaurant. My husband had the seared scallop which were awesome and quite a large serving and very very fresh. I had the pork chop tender tender, great bread, food and service we would go back to this awesome hotel also. Very relaxing...."
Dined on 8/31/2013
The Ritz has done a great job
creating an elegant, but fitting-for-the-mountain hotel and restaurant. Beautiful setting and good food."
Dined on 8/27/2013
A Saturday night can be busy, and
Manzanita was. Server was nice, but did not bring warm plates for the pizza and ravioli that we were sharing as an appetizer until asked. Ravioli had a very nice flavor, but was not warm all the way through - odd. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, the wine and the dessert. However, for the price, you can get better food in the Truckee area. My "average" rating reflects the relative cost of the experience."
Dined on 8/25/2013
Great food and friendly service.
Corkage fee was a little high at $35 but overall great dining experience."
Dined on 8/24/2013
Excellent food and menu choices.
Servers are of different quality and product knowledge. It makes a difference in the experience. We dined twice during our stay at this location. The first much better than the second due to the server quality."
Dined on 8/21/2013
Jumbo Asparagus not Jumbo! The
Heirloom Tomato salad was not up to speed, very few tomatoes, for the price."
Dined on 8/18/2013
Steak was perfectly seasoned and
prepared. Open kitchen fun to watch and the Chefs cheerful and pleasant. They seem to enjoy talking to guests while working."
Dined on 8/5/2013
Unbelievable service and amazing
food! We truly appreciate a restaurant who understands and acommodates my wife's gluten allergy. The chicken was mouth-watering; I'm not one to order chicken but I couldn't resist. My wife had the scallops with quinoa...I'm still wishing I had ordered it too. We will definitely return!"
