A word from Manon
Manon is a modern American restaurant and bar in the heart of Meatpacking District. The menu presents locally-sourced, seasonal fare by Executive Chef Tae Strain and offers comforting favorites that reflect Chef Strain’s worldly culinary inspirations.

Manon spans three floors with the main dining room at the top, a bar and lounge at street level, and a mezzanine in between for admiring the scenes above and below. The interior incorporates baroque style elements with an industrial feel that pays homage to the Meatpacking District and New York City.

Diner Reviews
  • "Manon was amazing! Definitely a fun and happening spot for dinner! Service was average, nothing to rave about. The food and drinks and ambiance were outstanding! So much fun!"

  • "I really enjoyed Manon. The ambience and service were very good. I would even say excellent and although the food was also very good I just wish there was a bit more of it for the price tag. This is not a tapas place and the dishes are labeled entrees but once our plates arrived I really had to wonder. All said I would still go back. I would just order more bread."

  • "The restaurant was beautiful, the staff was pleasant and I thought we were off to a good start. The service was painfully slow. Some of us ordered a salad/appetizer, and those actually came out quickly. Then we waited and waited - at least another full hour for our dinners. When the dinners arrived, they were pretty awful. At least three or four of us ordered the Dorade. We were told that it was a fillet (boneless), however, we discovered it wasn't. After each bite I had to pick the bones out of my mouth, so I just stopped eating. Others told me later that their steaks were fatty and greasy. I was embarrassed that I had chosen the restaurant and left there hungry. When we got back to our hotel, I and ran out and got a slice of pizza."

  • "Food was great, from the appetizers to the deserts. We came during restaurant week and the service was just as good as a regular night. The Merlot from Argentina was fab! I cant recall the name--something along the lines of alto. We started with a glass and ended up ordering a bottle."

  • "Went here for Restaurant Week dinner. The food was really good. Service was friendly but needs some refinement. The server took away plates without asking if we were done. The place is modern and nice."

  • "The overall service was fantastic!! Food is spectacular and the ambience is modern and clean! It is very noisy, but not in a negative way."

  • "First, were seated at an excellent, comfortable table with a nice view of the room and outside the windows until the curtains were tastefully drawn as the evening began. After an amusing Amouse Bouche, we had the 7 course Winter tasting menu (among the offerings were ravioli, sea bass, lobster, venison, tuna) which was of course, amazing. Even more noteworthy, I'd have to say, was the service. Perfect timing, swift and subtle. The dessert plate was probably may favourite, and I'm more savoury than sweet. 4 tasty creations to try. Some special sweets and a couple cups of amazingly flavourful coffee later, and the night was over- two and a half hours had passed! A wonderful night out. I highly recommend it."

  • "This restaurant has lots of potential but where was everyone??? They need to work on marketing and make it more of a hot spot. The food was ok the space was pretty but the dead atmosphere made it weird. Promote promote promote."

  • "We were in the third flour and it was pretty cool meaning temp., I wore my jacket during the entire meal. Food was great however."

  • "wide range of options for restaurant week; the full menu looked great too. service was a bit lacking, our waiter only took one drink order and by the time he came around the second time they were about to bring out dessert. otherwise, it was good. very trendy place that's trying to give a very Meatpacking vibe, but they pull it off."

  • "Hey Manon, Thanks a lot for taking 20 minutes to bring our drink orders out and 30 minutes to take our menu, when there was only one large table party and one other 5 person table ..which, by the way, was seated AFTER we came in. The "newbie" waiter was apologetic for the long wait and offered to take down our orders, only he couldn't advice if the lamb or the steak was better.. Very disappointing, wont be doing date night at this place again, that's for sure, and told my friends not to as well. Thanks, James"

  • "Went for restaurant week and surprised to see it so empty. But the food is fantastic - sister restaurant of Betony so simlar menu and food style. Cocktails were great and looks like it becomes good late night bar too. Decor is cool - exposed brick, lots of mirrors"

  • "I have to say this place made an impression! Awesome vibe, great food and impeccable service has this place in my top 3! Meat packing vibe without the meat packing attitude from bartenders, servers and manager made this my "it" spot going forward!!!!"

  • "went here for restaurant week - the food was good, but nothing outstanding that I am dying to have again. The bar/lounge area downstairs was a cool scene. Even the restaurant upstairs was energetic and fun. the service was pretty standard..nothing exceptional."

  • "Friendly service, gorgeous space. Enjoyed the Restaurant Week menu. The crudo was amazing (but needed a bit more acidity), the chicken entree portion was huge and cooked perfectly, and the dessert was quite good as well. Seriously beautiful space, but very quiet that night."

  • "The ambiance and decor in the restaurant is great. It leaves a good impression. The staff is friendly and the house cocktails are interesting. I managed to try all of them since we had to wait a full hour past hour reservation time to be seated. When we went to be seated we noticed that it wasn't very full and we probably could have been seated at least 30 to 45 minutes earlier. I think the staff took advantage of the fact that it was valentines and it would be almost impossible to make last minute reservations. The food was Ok. None of the dishes stood out, but they weren't bad either. I think the restaurant relies too much on the ambiance to make up for the Ok food. I would recommend it for groups because there is plenty of space."

  • "The restaurant was freezing! They don't have any heat and we froze through the whole meal. This was after they made us wait 30 minutes for our table when we had reservations, and what topped it off was that there was a prefixe menu that t and we weren't allowed to opt out of the 4 course meal"

  • "Manon (what's a manon?) made for a romantic, last minute choice for Valentines Day dinner. The bar and dining rooms were sophisticated nightclubby designs that were sexy and exciting. The hosts were warm and accommodating about changing tables. So the negative side...there was a prix fix menu for V-day, which is always a letdown but I'm sure is more lucrative than offering the full menu. The food ranged from excellent (grilled eggplant) to bad (uninteresting amuse bouches, and dry tasteless chocolate cake). The cocktails, which should have been exquisite for the venue and nearly $20 price, were just ok. In the end, small portions of uneven food came to over $250 for two, with two drinks each. For this price, there's better options."

  • "We had the most wonderful time, out meal was great, out server rocked, everyone seemed to care and be there to take care of us, we felt like celebrities the entire evening. We will be back."

  • "The decor was great, and the place overall was definitely energetic. I loved the bar downstairs. A great place to go with friends. The food is not bad. The appetizers were great. But for the main course 3 of us ordered fish, and 1 person ordered the strip loin. My only complaint was that mine was the only fish that was not deboned as I thought it was going to be. The strip loin was amazing. I wished I had ordered that instead. Host and Hostess were wonderful, so overall I had a great time and would still recommend it. Especially since the rest of my friends liked the place."

  • "I chose this restaurant as I was led to believe that it was a hip new place in the Meatpacking district. We wanted a restaurant that had a DJ and good atmosphere and were under the impression that we could stay there all night after dinner. However, the DJ is actually downstairs and not upstairs where the restaurant is. You can hear the music but the atmosphere was really bland and boring. There weren't many there and it was a weekend night. It's a fairly nicely styled restaurant and the food was nice enough. Totally over rated. I'd rather Spice Market or Budakkan any day..."

  • "Don't like the table which was given to us. The food is not tasty and portions are small. Coctails is also bad. We don't like this place at all."

  • "Cool atmosphere and interesting menu but the food just missed. The sea bass was dry and overcooked as was the mushroom side order. Raw tuna app was fishy and not edible. Never received bread although we asked. Waiter was nice but would not go back. Too many other good choices in NYC!"

  • "There was a private event on the first floor, so we were seated in the small room on the second floor. There was only one other party, we were told that most people come after 9:30PM. The room was very cold and despite several requests and assurances, the room remained cold. The waiter was a little irritating since he constantly complained about NYC. The food was very good; however, make sure you ask for the price of a cocktail that's not on the menu - $19 for a small, average Cosmo."

  • "This third floor restaurant sits above a a mezzanine lounge and a ground floor bar. The eating area is dimly (but mood-enhancingly) lit and the tables are well spaced (for NYC!). The menu and wine list is great - the food itself was superbly presented and was excellent overall. We had two different steak dishes as entrees - both cooked to perfection. One small issue - which may be worth noting - when our server explained the specials, he neglected to mention the price. The special entree was about $10 more than the average price on the menu. When the bill arrived, we'd also been charged for two extra side dishes - probably a genuine mistake, but maybe worth keeping an eye on if you are dining at Manon."

  • "Absolutely wonderful place no matter what you are looking for: great drinks and bar scene, relaxed and intimate atmosphere, upscale fine dining experience, gourmand foodie delight or professional, attentive service. All of it you'll find here in Manon. With the three levels that not interacting with each other they are accommodating to the tastes of very different public and do it well. It's a gem in Meatpacking district and we are so glad we've discovered it. For us it's one of the few best restaurants of New York and we'll be there every time we visit."

  • "Manon is a gem! Brilliantly prepared food served with artistic flare and a respect for the essential flavors of quality produce. The chef exudes confidence and has no need for pretension -- this is cooking as a fine art. The desserts were just as spectacular. Service was excellent from the welcome at the door to the table -- friendly and professional with an obvious desire to please. The decor is simple and elegant. This is an excellent addition to NY's restaurant scene and the bar downstairs is also pumping. Go and be spoiled."

  • "Really enjoyed our evening. The food was very special and extremely fresh, but the chocolate cake with a massive pile of caramel was off the charts. We had several foodgasms along the way. The space was strikingly beautiful. We thought the dance music was a bit loud throughout the evening; we could not really hear our waiter speaking to us."

  • "I had dinner here at 7pm on a Friday, and there were no other diners there for a while.. It started to fill up around 9:30. For most of our dinner we felt totally alone.. As far as food, it was very good, had oysters and the chicken liver mousse for apps, and steak for dinner. Everything was delicious. Cocktails were just ok."

  • "really beautiful space. great spot to impress a date. very inventive food. the restaurant was quiet and peaceful, 2 floors up from the opulent bar so you don't have to deal with a loud crowd or loud music. great all around."

  • "We arrived super late for our reservation (due to airline difficulties). Chris, who answered the phone, was really fantastic. The kitchen was closing but they seated us and while we couldn't have dessert, the 2 gentlemen who served us til the end, were lovely. (Our waiter only took our order and then we didn't see him again). The food was great, very rich. The club was in full swing downstairs so if you are into (loud) hip hop dance, you'd love this place."

  • "Great find. Our friend's son is one of the chef's here. Fabulous ambiance, first class dining and excellent fare. Everything we had was done extremely well with good service to boot. Front desk was a little snooty and the elevator was acting up as we tried to get up to the third floor to our table. Two of our 5 were paying their bar bill and the hostess wouldn't guide us to our table till we were all there. Not very gracious and a bit irksome if you ask me."
