Diner Reviews
  • "Great food and good service. Good selection of items. Try the caprese salad."

  • "Excellent food. Enjoyed our meal even though there was a formal night out for a group of high school patrons (+20) at our first visit on Saturday. The food was excellent with appropriate pricing (except for the tiramisu dessert). Otherwise, it was a great meal."

  • "We had a group of 10 in town for the Shamrock 1/2 and full marathon. There was a great selection of choices and even a "race" menu that listed all the specific vitamin and mineral content in the meals and what those vitamins and minerals would help with on race day! Our food was fabulous, the service was quick, and she even offered and brought us 10 different checks. I will always go here when I am in town to visit again!"

  • "Thanks to Mannino's for supporting runners of the 2014 VA Beach Shamrock Marathon with wonder high-carb options before the race. The food and staff we're great and very accommodating. Would definitely return when we're back in town and recommend to friends!"

  • "Went to Mannino's in Thourghgood for Valentine's Day, the filet topped with shrimp was wonderful. Best filet I have ever had. The chocolate espresso mousse dessert that evening was also delicious. I will definitely be back."

  • "Mannino's is always a win-win! With travel plans cancelled due to snow, we were left without Valentine's dinner reservation just 2-days prior to the holiday...Mannino's came through with a cancellation, and we were able to enjoy a yummy, romantic dinner for two."

  • "The perfect fit for your authentic italian food craving! The serving sizes are huge, definitely enough to split. I would recommend the Veal Francese!!!!!!!! So good! Also you cannot go wrong with the anti-pasta, and/or peppers and sausage appetizers."

  • "Started off our evening on a sour note. Have been here many times and this was the first time that we were greeted by a hostess who was not very accommodating. Requested a table along the wall because the table we were shown was under a bright spot light in the middle of the restaurant, she said the table was saved for a group sitting at the bar. That group chose a booth and the table remained empty for a new couple that arrived later. Not pleased. Now onto a good note. We ordered the lobster bisque that was on special that evening and it was the best lobster bisque ever! Full of large pieces of lobster, creamy & hot. It would have been perfection if not for a little too much salt. The rest of our meal was just ok. May not be back."

  • "Everything is always enjoyable at this restaurant! It was Restaurant week, and we made a reservation. When we arrived there was only one couple there, and the hostess proceeded to take us to a table at the entry. When we declined and asked for a booth [there were many], she said we couldn't have one they were reserved. When we asked for a side table same response. Decided that we would leave. She left came back and gave us a booth. When we left one hour later, booths were still empty and the couple who enter after us were told the same story. That was the only annoying negative which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Service was great and the food was delicious and plentiful."

  • "We decided to go to this neighborhood restaurant for Restaurant Week 2014 and were not disappointed. The food was generous and fresh tasting. The waitress recommendation one of their special featured wines and it was outstanding. We were full by dessert but it too was delicious. I took my chocolate-chip cannolli home and loved it ! Would go back again and encourage others to try this nice place."

  • "I went because it was restaurant week. They offered a very nice selection for the occassion and did not scrimp on the servings. The marsala crab soup was delicious and filled with crab."

  • "She crab soup is the best in town (actually in the whole Tidewater area.) The food was tasty, attractive and generous. Our server, Mary Ellen, was attentive and professional, without hovering."

  • "We were seated at a table that was in a high traffic area but the wait staff did a nice job of making it non-intrusive. The food was excellent and we had a very nice wine to go with it. We were celebrating a birthday and it was a very nice evening. - would do it again."

  • "This is the third year we've celebrated the new year at Mannino's Italian Bistro!. The food is always fresh, delivered hot and enough to take home for lunch the next day! My fav, the "Stack" was delish! I'm not a foodie, but I know what I like and Mannino's is the go to place when we want Italian cuisine."

  • "A friend recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it Christmas Eve. Big mistake! A table of 20 something took up most of the room in the middle of the place and unfortunately commanded most of everyone's attention. Also this created a very loud environment. We had the worst table in the room in a high traffic area and were not allowed to move although we asked twice when booths emptied out. No one told us about the specials- I just happened to hear the waiter behind us telling his table and then saw the board behind me. Beware seafood lovers!! there is nothing here but shrimp- no fish of any kind. Everything was swimming in oil and butter too so healthy eaters beware. Many fried foods here. Thankfully the bread was good!"

  • "We went to Mannino's for a special Christmas Eve dinner and it did not disappoint! The food was garlicky and delicious, amazing Mediterranean vegetables and good Italian wine. The ambiance was comfortable and welcoming. Service was good, but not outstanding. I will definitely return when I'm visiting again."

  • "It is always a treat to eat at Manninio's. We started with their thick crab soup. It never disappoints us. Our entree was the shrimp special. The red sauce was tasty, not spicy, just right. We had an attentive waiter, Alexander. It was a lovely dinner."

  • "It's rockfish season in the Chesapeake, so when rockfish was one of the features, my wife and I ordered it. Excellent - one of the best I've had! We shared a salad - servings are generous there. One wouldn't ordinarily think Italian Restaurant as a go-to place for seafood, but they hit a home run that night. We'll be back!"

  • "Food was good, service, etc. I don't check 5 stars because I don't know of a restaurant that has 5 stars. We love Mannino's and will keep going there. It is good."

  • "Food was ridiculously over priced. A piece of chicken and spaghetti was $19 and was swimming in a bowl of mushroom broth...had absolutely no taste at all. Ordered the shrimp scampi for $15, recieved three shrimp with spaghetti swimming in a bowl of butter broth with no taste. The cannoli shelsl were hard as a rock. Cheaply and poorly decorated! Led to a booth with torn and taped cushions. Left with more than half our dinners wrapped without the over abundance of broth and stopped at the pizzeria next door for pizza."

  • "The Mannino's label wine was surprisingly pleasing. I believe it came from the Tuscany region of Italy. The house salad was perfect, the veal piccata lightly covered in gravy was savory and the pasta with diavolo sauce was fresh with just the right amount of spice. We will be back to this friendly and unpretentious Italian restaurant."

  • "Food was well prepared and the portions were more than generous."

  • "Mannino's is superb! The four of us raved about our entrees, all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection with scrumptious sauces that Italy itself would be proud to serve. Tortellini Rustico, Veal Portabella Stack, Seafood Medley are all winning dishes. Wine selection fit our discriminating tastes as well. We will return for more ... many times!"

  • "Great dinner. The New York Strip special was one of the best I have ever had. I also recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer."

  • "There are no words other than...yum... oh, and great service. Christina was very knowledgeable about both the menu items and the wine list... She gave good recommendations. The food was stellar, I was told by my companions that the crab soup is amazing. I had pasta and the Veal was great. There is nothing bad to say..."

  • "This was our first time at this location. Great things followed by disappointments. Wonderful salad, excellent veal dish, lackluster bread & incomplete menu description of a scampi dish."
