Mannino's is the best place to go when you want real Italian food. Not the same old boring chain stuff here! The fried Mozzarella and zucchini sticks will get your dinner off to a good start. The menu is not so huge that you have a hard time deciding what to eat. One of my favorites is the fettucine alfredo. Don't forget to save room for dessert. The Tiramisu is devine!!

Had a delicious dinner here with friends while visiting Portsmouth. The food was freshly made, the service was excellent and we all enjoyed our meals. Wine list is overpriced for the selections offered so be prepared. We enjoy ourselves and will be returning when back in the Portsmouth area. Highly recommend.

While in the area on business I decided to try this place. It’s a fairly small street front bistro; there is a small parking lot behind it and street parking was not a problem on a weekday evening. They were already fairly busy at 6:30 and my service was slow at first. I had a cup of the crab soup and it was outstanding. For the main I had the Linguine Frutta de Mare and it was excellent too. The Mannino Chianti, at $10 a glass, was the most expensive wine by the glass on the ‘reds’ menu. The pours were skimpy, I’d say barely 4 ounces, but the wine was good. This was a delicious meal in a nice setting, although the atmosphere isn’t anything special. Noise level was fairly loud.

The fried oyster dish was spectacular. The sauce was one that requires you to use your bread and leave nothing on the plate. The oysters tasted 'clean' and light. The presentation was fitting the quality of the dish. Next time go I will have the oysters and a bottle of wine......and that will be divine!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The crab soup is delicious, but very rich - a cup is enough. We had specials - scallops and a shrimp and italian sausage pasta dish and both were very good. The service was nice and friendly.

Terrible service. Waited 10 minutes to be noticed for seating for a 6:00 pm Monday night reservation for 6 (others waiting too) no greeting, nearly empty restaurant. Walter forgot us, waited 30 minutes for dessert had to go in search of waiter. Hope they pull it together--crab soup great.

First time visit for 3 Italian foodies. Atmosphere included 100 year old walls with some holes carved out for candles and table candles. Felt like some of the restaurants we'd visited in Italy. Service was superb and staff friendly. The food was excellent. Everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. We all had different dishes and argued over whose was the best. This will be a permanent addition to our favorite restaurants. Casual dress okay and outside dining is available.

Lovely place with a friendly bar tender who made a rose out of a paper napkin for me. Dinner was delicious, especially the eggplant parmesan which my husband ate without reserve because it tasted just like the way "real Italians" make it. He's from italy and knows real Italian food!! My lasagna was divine as were the other dishes ordered. I never tasted such good she crab soup before in my life; it was loaded with crab meat. Excellent food, wine, service and dining experience. Will definitely go back there again to dine.

We drive all the way from Greenbrier to go to Mannino's in Olde Town. The atmosphere is charming with the natural brick walls and eclectic artwork. Whenever we have out of town company, we take them to Mannino's for the she-crab soup because it is nothing short of exquisite. And...it is always hot when it arrives at your table...which is greatly appreciated.

Recommended to us by a friend as her favorite restaurant, Mannino's did not disappoint! We went for our wedding anniversary and had an excellent meal. We shared an antipasto which was delicious, then split a special pasta dish with crab in a truffle butter sauce that was phenomenal! We finished with a very creditable tiramisu. A great celebration.

I made lunch reservations for a party of 7 through the online service on their website. We arrived & our table was ready. Our server was Brian and he was absolutely fabulous! He had a helper working with him, possibly a trainee...forgive me, I do not recall her name, but she was great as well. The Fried Green tomato appetizer was a hit! Many in our group also had the she crab soup and the crab panini lunch special. Others had the lasagna, chicken parm, turkey panini, and gorgonzola salad. Everything was fresh and very tasty...most of us left with to-go boxes as we could not finish the generous portions. I really wanted to try the in-house made Tiramisu, as it is my all time favorite desert, but that will have to wait until the next visit.

The calamari was good. It was nice and tender. However, the service was not good. We arrived at 8:20 and did not leave until 10:00. The waitress was really slow. We waited at least 20 min. before we placed our order. The main course needed some seasoning--very bland. Also, I think the food was overpriced for an Italian restaurant.

The food was very good and our server was very attentive. She recommended very good dishes and gave us good advice on a wine choice. The only downside to our meal was that it was a little too warm in the restaurant - the doors were open to the outside patio on a very warm and humid evening.

It's a perfect place for locals, but it certainly worth the drive for folks who love good food at a reasonable price. I've now been there three times and they have yet to disappoint me at any level - food, service, quality, or attentiveness. A must go restaurant for all of Hampton Roads!

A spur of the moment evening dinner out with my lady found us booking a reservation with Maninioes in Downtown Portsmouth. After hearing about the delightful specials, we settled for the veal parmagean, with pasta for my wife and green beans for me. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Just the right level for the music - just the right amount of attention from our fantastic waitress. A very good night out thanks to Maninoes!
