  • "My husband and I took our goddauther to dinner. The food is always consisitently good. It is a bit difficult to find if you do not know where it is. My husband and godchild had mussels. I had the Branzino which was very good"

  • "Everything was good including the delicious mussels. Beer list is lots of fun, given that it has bottles you don't often see elsewhere."

  • "Nothing special. Hardly had any of the beers on the menu and I am not sure MC liquor control board is the real culprit. We used to visit often under the original owners but this was lackluster at best in comparison."

  • "Excellent service, great food and friendly staff. While the location/outside appearance lacks personal charm and warmth, you're immediately transported to another world once you step foot into the restaurant--and that's where all the magic and charm resides. Conveniently located a few blocks from Olney Theatre Center, so a great spot to dine before seeing a show. Highly recommended...the pork loin and trout wrapped in bacon were my favorites!"

  • "We have not been here in years - in the early 2000s, it was one of our favorite restaurants. To see a once great restaurant deteriorate so far is sad - the waiter was nice, but proceeded to tell us about how the restaurant had got in trouble and needed to check everyone's ID in far too much detail. The mussels were overcooked. I ordered a medium rare steak special, the result was shoe leather and clearly had sat under a heat lamp. They remade it, but the meat was still inedible. They kindly took off the price, but I would have rather had dinner."

  • "We dined at Mannequin Pis with another couple after seeing "Avenue Q" at the Olney Theatre. We were pleased with the varied menu, since I recalled the place as being mainly mussels. Two of us got mussels and the others a steak and a spicy lamb sausage. Everything was tasty. I was surprised by the potato-leek soup, which had large chunks of potato in it which I'd never encountered before. My girlfriend was disappointed that her Hear of Palm salad only had on artichoke heart in it. We will return after future Olney plays."

  • "little place with huge cuisine, real fine taste of Europe excellent food, beer and wine choices."

  • "Their muscle pots are the best with many broths to choose from... Highly recommend the 'snob' broth made with a splash of their lobster bisque. The beer list is amazing with many Belgium beers to choose from to complement your meal. Wine list is good too. And to top it off the 'pot if chocolate' is rich and creamy.... The perfect ending."

  • "Everything was just fine here. We've been a number of times before. The quality has always been very good. Adequate wine list although it's odd there is no Pinot Gris choice. It can be a little "tight", as it is a very small restaurant...."

  • "My family REALLY liked the mussels and beer, which is why we went, of course. But for me, who doesn't drink beer or eat meat or seafood, it was a pretty dull event. (except for the company, of course)"

  • "Delicious food, great service, European atmosphere, and perhaps a unique menu. Well worth the trip to Olney."

  • "This charming little neighborhood gem us predictably great every time. It's small size is part of the charm. Just be sure to make reservations. Love the snob sauce."

  • "Great selection and always good. Great wine and beer lists. Lovely white tablecloth and funky feels."

  • "Come here for the mussels. You get a pot of them that is almost impossible to finish. The fries that come with them aren't anything special, just standard shoestring. Ask for a ton of bread to soak up the broth from the bottom of the pot, that's the best part. I've been here 6-7 times, always good. No dead mussels any time, had one slightly broken on my last visit but otherwise very good."

  • "The food was superb, from mussels special to wild boar/cranberry sausage with red cabbage/brown sugar glaze. The café glace dessert was exquisite, and the Belgian beer selection is very good. What was strange is that we were not permitted to stagger our order. Our table was tiny, and the three dishes wouldn't fit on it along with our beer and water glasses and the bread. We wanted the mussels as an appetizer, then the sausage as a main course, but we weren't allowed to do that. The server went a bit far in telling us that we shouldn't have the cabbage/brown sugar side because it was "too sweet" with the boar/cranberry sausage, but other than that the service was good. The room was a bit noisy, but jovial."

  • "My wife and I have been eating at Mannequin Pis for years now though this is the first time I've been asked to write a review. The first time we came, we did not know what Belgian cuisine was about; we merely came because we were interested in taste testing Belgian beers! Well, in addition to the delectable selection of Belgian beers, we found out that mussels are the centerpiece of authentic Belgian dining. We had never been big mussel eaters in the past, but we gave it a try and fell in love. Certainly, Mannequin Pis has other rotating appetizers and entrees that are tasty in their own right, but we always get the mussels now. There are so many flavors to try and we have, but our favorite is the Red Devil. Oh, btw the beers are top notch!"

  • "There are no words that adequately describe how amazing the mussel pots are!! The fragrant broth just enhances the delicate flavor of the mussels. Be sure to ask for extra bread to dip in the broth"

  • "I always enjoy eating here. It is very nice inside and has great decor and slightly dimmed lighting which is perfect. The food is consistently very good as well. They have a beef stew that is fantastic and I had one of the pheasant sausages which was the best I have ever had."

  • "I could go on but the experience was totally delightful. The Food, service, and Ambiance were fantastic. The Mussels were out of this world, and our food was prepared to perfection. Highly recommend this place. if you like Mussels. They prepare them in so many ways."

  • "Love Mannequin Pis! Have been several times now and the food is always outstanding. If you like mussels, this is THE place to go, and the carbanade flambande is amazing. Incredible beer list! I've seen complaints that the beers are expensive, and the availability of each varies, but they clearly state on the menu that its partly due to Montgomery County liquor laws and taxes, which is believable. They are all pretty unusual imports too. "

  • "Enjoyed the food. The pomme frites were excellent. The dessert was great. Overall, had a very nice experience. Would return."

  • "I have been going to Mannequin Pis for the better part of a decade, and while the food remains good, the service has definitely slipped. The wait staff are difficult to attract, and seemed to have a difficult time taking our order. With other Belgian restaurants now available in the area with equally good beer and food selection, Mannequis Pis may have lost its premier status. "

  • "As always, wonderful food, wonderful drink, and wonderful service. It was our first time trying the garlic Pomme Frites. Of course, they all got gobbled up. My sons especially appreciate the beer menu."

  • "I found this via OpenTable and I was led to another fine restaurant. A local place that I finally visited. A true Belgium one and known for the mussels. They were worth every drop and bite. A must have. Server was spot on with choices. Fish was nicely done and wonderful flavor. Good wine picks. Will be back"

  • "Don't judge this book by it's cover. I almost didn't enter the place after viewing the location. Inside is a spectacular restaurant. Very interesting menu choices and wonderful tasting. "

  • " The service was excellent, seating was a little to close, food was very good except the mussels were bland. Presentation was very well done and would return to this restaurant."

  • "While all the food I've had here has been good, we go back mostly for the mussels. They have many different preparations, and we love trying them all. Delicious. The "Snob" is my favorite - mussels in lobster bisque."

  • "Mussels and mussel pots are the calling card for this restaurant, not to mention pommes frittes and an extensive and impressive array of Belgian beers. My favorite is the mussels steamed in a lobster bisque served with pommes frittes. My wife, neighbors and I have also enjoyed their steak, lamb, pork, sausages, and mushroom ragout. The bread pudding is incredible, as is just about any chocolate concoction they offer. We were enticed by their Groupon coupons, and with that felt we were eating superbly for a discount. It's a small restaurant, so make sure you make reservations. They also recently added a three-course meal special offered Mondays through Thursdays, which offers a similar value to the Groupon coupons but during the week."

  • "Had been wary of going to this restaurant as last year reviews extensively discussed poor service. Heard there was a change so decided to try. We went on a Saturday night and although every table was taken, we were seated in a timely fashion for our 8:00 reservation. Service was appropriately attentive. Tables are close together but noise level is low enough to conduct a conversation at our table. Having gone to Belgium last spring, we were reminiscing the great beers and mussels we had on that vacation. We were very pleased with the choices for these and enjoyed our dishes immensely. We will be back. "
