Mankas SteakhouseA Pleasant EveningThe dinner tasted great. The wine recommendation from the bar tender was fabulous. We dined outside on a pleasant evening. The only complaint I had was that the dessert did not taste good, otherwise, everything was perfect.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful Anniversary Evening! We enjoyed every moment of our time at Mankas Steakhouse. The service was superb and the food delicious. The lobster bisque was the best I've ever had with large chucks of lobster. We shared a meal and still had some left over so portions were generous. We definitely would go back again. Thanks to Tim for seeing to our pleasure at his restaurant. And a special thanks to our daughter Leigh Ann for finding this gem of a restaurant.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSplendiferousMy girlfriend and I had a really great evening "meal" at Mankas. We had some delicious tuna tar tar, a salad that she had before but that was not on the menu that evening, and a chocolate lave cake. We are more beer people and they allowed us to bring some of our own along, the only stipulation was they were "local", just like all their ingredients that come from the surrounding valley of farms and wineries. Our server was in a great mood and was really cool. We sat outside on a beautiful California evening, and we are both very much looking forward to a return trip. Lastly... I think it speaks volumes for the kitchen crew to whip something up that wasn't on the current menu.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOut of town funWe have lived in the area for almost 40 years and have seen this spot go through many changes and venues. This latest is the most upscale. However, we still think of it as "country" and it may be a little too much for the area, not withstanding the growing "upscale" wine businesses, it is still rural, and Solano county is still considered the low end of the Bay Area. We wish them success.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMdiamond in the ruffNever new it was there. The food was awesome service excellent. And it was very quite. Great wine list too5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMlovely evening dining outdoorsMy husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mankas last Sunday evening and had a wonderful time. The parking is roadside, so drive slow upon your approach as it is nestled at a crossroads ;0)
We were greeted & immediately brought to our table. Set up was clean, crisp & accommodating for a party of 9 (6 adults/3 kids). Nice wine selection, local Riesling-Yum! And the bread baskets were never ending.

It was just ok for $35. The service was not great. If they want to charge $35 a plate I think there should be exceptional service.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I went hereMy husband and I went here for our 10 year anniversary. The outdoor area is very charming so we sat outside. The food was terrific! We ordered many appetizers and shared everything. The service was wonderful. Our server made a mistake in telling us that the port my husband ordered was a tawny port when it turned out to be a ruby port, so he offered us dessert on the house. It was very unexpected and a generous surprise. It's upscale but not ridiculously expensive. We loved it!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place in a scenic settingScallops were tasty and very nicely done but a tad salty. Steak fillet was very tender and perfectly done. Great selection of local wines! Attentive service of a very busy night. Pricey menu but a great place for that special occasion. Will visit again.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat close-by restaurant.Great close-by restaurant. very good food, though the cost is much more than it should be for the area- this really is not napa valley and so $35 for an entree is too much...4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful experience. We had a wonderful experience. I may be too stingy with four stars across the board. Four and one-half stars would be more accurate. We have eaten in this restaurant over the last thirty years. Its current ownership and menu is most definitely an improvement. I hope they do well. Food quality was excellent. I had a petite filet, and my wife ordered scallops. Both dishes were superb.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Romantic DinnerThe food was fantastic! The service and ambience were even better, we will definitely be back!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and service andGood food and service and great ambiance. Can't wait to go back.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a beautiful drive fromIt was a beautiful drive from Napa, love the Wooden Valley area. Mankas is at the bend in the road, next to Vezer Winery. So fun to taste after lunch or even before. We were there for lunch. We had the ribs and french dip along with fries etc. and of course wine, all good. Everything fresh. The table next to us had a soup which I could hear they were really enjoying. Will go back. The setting is outstanding even on a rainy day. Do stop by the Vezer, nice wines, good experience and that's coming from a Napan! Nice change from the busy highway 29. Will send company over the hill to enjoy this valley and restaurant. Well done Fairfield. Surprise surprise!11/17/2012 12:00:00 AMNice Local RestaurantThis is the place my fiance and I chose to have our parents meet for the first time. It is located right next to the winery we visted after and the outdoor dining area was shaded against the summer heat. The food was really good and everyone was happy with their selection. Our server was great, offering suggestions about the menu since this was our first visit. It is definitely a place I'd like to take visitors to the area because it gives a good impression of the local restaurants we have.7/7/2012 12:00:00 AM
