Diner Reviews
  • "We had heard many raves about this restaurant so we took out of town guests. I was very disappointed with the food. The steak was very large but the side dishes were tiny. The food was not hot and some of the ingredients looked a little over the hill. Our friends salads had so much dressing they had to remove a lot of it just to be able to eat it."

  • "The menu albeit limited, was varied enough especially for the rural location. The food was delicious but the prices were a little high again for the location. The wine list was local which was great as the wineries in suisun valley are not well known. Our waiter was efficient and friendly without being cloying. All in all we had a great luncheon experience and plan to return for lunch as well as dinner."

  • "We took our son and daughter in law for dinner after spending the day in Napa wine tasting. I love that it's close to home, easy to get to, reasonably priced and a nice wine list, also reasonably priced."

  • "I took my mother there for her birthday. She told me after over 40 years living in Fairfield, this was her first time there. It is definitely a hidden gem. The service was good, the ambiance was good and the food was cleaned off the plates. Good hospitality overall!"

  • "First time since the restaurant has changed hands. We dined fairly early in the evening so the crowd - and hence the noise level - were probably less than might be expected later. The service was excellent, and my 10 ounce filet was wonderful, and wonderfully presented - and they have a nice selection of very good local wines. Overall we were quite pleased - the only "negative" I can think of is a rather limited menu - but hey - it IS a "steakhouse". No problem recommending to a friend, and I WILL be back."

  • "I have been to Mankas Steakhouse a number of times for business lunches/dinners. The food was great as always. This visit was on a Tuesday night and we were seated in the main dining room. There was live music which at first was nice but it got so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation with my guests. On future visits I will specificly request seating in the side room if it is a live music night."

  • "WE CHOSE MANKAS STEAKHOUSE FOR SUNDAY LUNCH WITH TWO FRIENDS THAT HEARD OF OUR GREAT DINING COMMENTS, AND WANTED TO EXPERIENCE MANKAS STEAKHOUSE FOR THEMSELVES.. WE TOASTED WITH SPARKLING WINE (FROM LODI OF ALL PLACES) AND ENJOYED FUN CONVERSATION AT A LEISURELY UNRUSHED PACE BEFORE CHOOSING LOBSTER BISQUE SOUP, AND A CAESAR SALAD WITH HOUSE MADE DRESSING FOR STARTERS. FILET MIGNON WAS THEIR SELECTION, WHILE OUR CHOICE WAS THE DRY RUBBED BABY BACK RIBS AND A STEAK BURGER WITH SWEET POTATO FRIES. AS YOU MIGHT IMAGINE, OUR FRIENDS WERE DELIGHTED WITH THEIR CHOICES. AND WHY NOT, I HAD PROMISED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE DISAPPOINTED - BECAUSE ALL MENU ITEMS ARE PREPARED NOT TO DISAPPOINT. HEY, MANKAS = SIMPLY SUPERB DINING."

  • "My party of seven enjoyed a delicious meal. The salad was not pleasing to the eye. The filet was.to die for. They even allowed my toddler to sleep in a luxurious booth while we dined."

  • "First time at this restaurant. Pricing is high and the food was not very well done. The Wedge Salad was a disaster - thr dressing was very bland and very scarce; we had to request additional dressing. It didnot resemble any wedge salad that I have ever had! We ordered Calamari but didn't finish the dish as we found it somewhat bland as was the aoli served with it. We ordered Sturgeon but it was bland as well and somewhat oily . The pricing here is very high and the food just dosn't keep pace. Perhaps, we should try again, but I don't think so."

  • "I specifically requested a window booth for a group birthday celebration and confirmed the reservations twice. Our group included people coming in from San Francisco and Sacramento. When we timely arrived they could not seat us as requested because, as they acknowledged, they overlooked/ignored my request and had just seated parties at the only two window tables. We ended up dining in the back room, which provided privacy but was dark and without the view we wished. The food was excellent but we were disappointed."

  • "This continues to be the best restaurants in the area. It's in a fantastic setting away from the franticness of interstate 80. The food is top notch, always creative, wonderfully presented and delightfully tasty. It is right next-door to Vezer Vineyard and all of their wines are available."

They also have music in the evening but we arrived to late for that. I definitely will return"

  • "If it weren't for OpenTable, we wouldn't have known this place existed. After finding this location, we sat down to find a great variety to the menu. To start a great white bean soup. Then a high class Mac & Cheese with white truffle oil and lobster. Also a nice dry rubbed set of ribs with one of the best BBQ home made BBQ sauces I have had. A good local wine selection, with a free corkage charge if you bought at one of the few local wineries. The service was amazing and our server was personable, fun, and went above and beyond, even at 11:15am for a nice lunch! Also seeing the owner/Chef in the back with his asst. Chef was great on a Presidents day early lunch."

  • "This restaurant continues to be a hot spot for locals and Bay Area residents seeking to have a 4star meal without the snobbery to be found next door in a Napa County. You can come in for a romantic dinner, a family birthday celebration, or just because and the service is always courteous, prompt, warm, welcoming, and very knowledgable about the food and wines. Highly recommend!!"

  • "My wife and I ate here for valentines dinner and it was the best experience I could hope for. The resteraunt is a small and romantic, and the area around is romantic and perfect since it's right on the border of nappa and Fairfield. The food is pricy, it was 100 dollars for the both of us but that's what I expected for a romantic dinner. The food is DEFINITLY worth the price though. We had the filet mignon and shrimp scampy and both were the best I've ever had before. If you like in Fairfield or stationed at Travis AFB, you HAVE to make a trip to this steak house!"

  • "Couldn't believe that our filet was cut in half horizontally. Apparently do the cook could determine its temp? Also, none of our dishes were seasoned. Very disappointing."

  • "Who would have known we have this great restaurant in our backyard? The restaurant sits on a small piece of property amidst the rolling hills full of grapevines, right next to a neighboring winery. Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. We went on a Wednesday night, but I was glad we made the reservations because a neighborhood gem like this is sure to get filled even on a week night. We had a great time, and we will surely go back again."

  • "We had a large group assemble for the birthday of my mother-in-law and found the table ready upon our arrival, good service (although the waiter should have started with the guest of honor and served her first (her meal was the last one brought to the table), and very nice food selection. Some had appetizers and salads and others did not, but everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. We had a memorable evening."

  • "Roasted bone marrow is one of those dishes that is incredibly simple, but some places mess it up by over dressing or over thinking. Mankas Steakhouse is not one of those places. The marrow came out soft and unctious. And the parsley salad was perfectly dressed, creating a sharp counterpoint to cut through the richness of the marrow. Our table completely enjoyed the ordered entrees - 2 orders penne, 1 scallops and 1 rib-eye. Just superb and well made classics."

  • "Great specials for "Ladies Night" (Tuesday). Fresh Lemon Drops, good local Chardonnay, yummy Tempura Bass with a luscious sauce and an excellent Roasted Beet Salad (probably the best I've ever had!) It's a quaint spot. We sat inside but the outside dining looked nice too. The staff was very good and there was even musical entertainment. I can't wait to go back! Finally something to look forward to in this area - yay!!"

  • "This is our second visit to the Mankas Steakhouse. The first was was August 2013. My wife and I celebrate special birthday events here because of the location, service, food and wine exceed our expectations. What a find. The ambiance of the region speaks wine country, but this is Fairfield - not Napa Valley. An extensive wine list includes many varietals from the nearby vineyards -which are simply outstanding. The food will not disappoint. In a word - VISIT and ENJOY."

  • "I have frequented this restaurant several times and I have had some great times with friends, but lately the food has not been on point. Quite frankly, I was disappointed in the lack of taste and flavor. I had the special which was a bass for $30.00 and was totally unsatisfied. The fish was tough, small and lacking in flavor. My partner had the pork chop which was absolutely tasteless! The experience was very disappointing. Needless to say, it was not my bests dinning experience at Mankas Corner! I had to delete most of what I wrote because I was over by 600 characters! So....here you go"

  • "I booked a lunch reservation for Mankas Steakhouse over the internet for an employee event we were holding. It took me all of 2 minutes to make the reservation and receive my confirmation via email. On the day of our meeting, the table was all set and ready to go when we arrived and the server assisted us right away. The food was delicious. although if you order a salad you will probably want to order something else along with it as they are small but very good. If you order a meal, you will get large portions. We all enjoyed the restaurant, meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. I would definitely book again."

  • "The food was fabulous. This was New Years Eve and the dinner made it special. The service compares very favorably with the service received on luxury cruise ships while the food exceeded that on a cruise ship. The beef tenderloin with truffle sauce was outstanding."

  • "We went here for a special occasion. It was picked by my Step-Daughter for her graduation dinner. She had seen it in a drive by. The web site made it look very good. It was ok at best. We had to ask the server what the specials were for the night. It was not unpleasant however with reservations and the dinning room empty they sat us 4 feet from the end of the bar. there were a lot of empty tables that were better."
