  • "The food was OK. If we lived close by, we might go on occasion, mostly because of the outdoor patio. Noise level was high. The server had trouble hearing us. They were setting up for some evening entertainment, that might have been enjoyable but certainly would add to the noise level. We hadn't seen our friends in a month and were looking forward to catching up. Fortunately, we finished dinner before the music started."

  • "I've been to Italy, several places... tortellini tasted EXACTLY as it did in Venice.!! My husbands chicken marsala was to die for... and my son's veal parmesan was equally fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a true Italian taste!"

We love music and will have to come back on an evening when we can dance.....perhaps when "The Moods" are performing. Mandile's is very beautiful ..... we had a marvelous waiter, Matt, who was very attentive to our needs. The food was excellent. We really enjoyed the Oysters Rockefeller. We will be back."

  • "I enjoyed the entertainment. However, if you allow reservations online, they should be honored. If there are rules for reservations to attend just for the entertainment, there should have notification on that. Also there should be more servers with this type of crowd. I had to get my drink from the bar."

  • "We went to Mandiles years ago when it first opened. The food was tasteless and the meat/veal tough. We did not go back until recently. We mainly went to see one of our favorite bands The Moods. We had a great time and the place was packed. However the food still is not up to our standards. The salad dressing on the house salad was ALL vinegar. I couldn't eat it. The sauce for the seafood ravioli was not as described, and the veal was still tough. Unless The Moods are there again, we probably won't go back."

  • "We went for dinner and to see The Moods. We got a table for 6 in the corner on the upper level and I'm glad we did that. With the band playing and people dancing, it was quite crowded and loud. If we had a table closer to the band, we wouldn't have enjoyed it that much because of people constantly passing by and the noise level. If you have a banquet hall, you should consider having the band there. Just a suggestion. But overall, we'll definitely be coming back."

  • "I have been to Mandiles several times. The food is carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. Because they prepare things right there they are able to accommodate requests of no salt, no pepper as well as other specials requests. I feel I can eat there knowing what's in my food and that they consider my diet needs and still have wonderfully tasteful dishes. Regarding the service Mat is the very best he asks you questions to make sure he understands your needs without delaying service. You will have several persons ask you about service and dinner needs. If you enjoy music go on a night when they have special event performers, you still will enjoy but if you like a quiet dinner you will love it also. This has become my favorite place."

  • "There were 7 of us at dinner on a Sunday night. The calamari, lasagna, and cheese pizza bread were very good, but we did not enjoy the salmon or the steak. They both were topped with a pile of rather bland vegetables. The wine was over-priced. The restaurant was advertised to be open till 9pm, but they seemed to be in a hurry to close the restaurant early. We left around 8pm."

  • "Night began with a bartender who had a snotty attitude. Our waiter was very attentive initially, but once our entrees appeared he disappeared completely and someone else stepped in to take over. The appetizer was good, the salads were delicious, but the dinner was mediocre (filet mignon, Oscar). The ambiance (or lack there of) is where this restaurant really fails in my opinion. It's as if there was a cold, sterile open space and a restaurant was awkwardly stuck in at the last minute. The tile floors make the space cold (not intimate) and incredibly loud. And the layout is strange. And by 9 p.m. a very cheesy and loud lounge act started playing which completely rendered all diners unable to hear one another. I won't be returning."

  • "We has been to mandiles a few months and had a positive experience but this time it was horrible! We had the worst service! It took our waitress 30 minutes to bring us our drinks even after my husband went to the bar to try and get our drinks. He ordered an old fashion and it tastes horrible and ended up being $12 even though this was algonquin and not chicago. My lasagne was good but his fettuccini Alfredo was watery instead of creamy. Overall, our waitress visited our table 4 times when we were there over an hour. She was unapologetic too. The manager also never came by to ask how everything was. We will not be returning!"

  • "We got to Mandile's only to find we could not use our voucher. We had an 8p reservation and weren't seated until 830p. We sat at our table with no server coming to us for another half hour. We finally asked for the Manager. He brought us drinks and gave us a new server, who was great. They ran out of brandy (we drink old fashions) and ran out of desserts as well. In the end, they took our voucher considering how the hits just kept coming our way. The food was excellent, just not sure it's worth the drive considering the customer service we initially received prior to informing the manager. It wasn't overly busy, just seemed to be much confusion. We probably won't go back although management did do his best to rectify every issue."

  • "when I first walked in to the restaurant I thought it was pretty cute until I noticed they had set my family in the back area by the bar or the dance floor the food was really good although the waiter was horrible he had brought us out some bread when we first got there and it was cold and hard after our dinner was served he never came back to check on us to see if everything was OK or if we needed a refill on a drink he never explained the menu to us also and we felt the atmosphere was horrible sitting in the back also it was my wife's birthday so we were really looking forward to this i spent almost $90 on this dinner I do not believe it was worth it and we were very disappointed we will not be returning tothis restaurant"

  • "World class service, outstanding food! Impressed is an understatement, these guys really made our night one to remember. The service was inline with any well known restaurant I have been to, our waiter Damir's wine knowledge had me scratching my head. To start we ordered a bottle of Barnett Pinot Noir, having been there in Napa, this is a rarity I have not seen this in IL before. For starters we had a burratta cheese appetizer & the cherry tomato bruschetta both phenomenal. For dinner I had the pork chop special, and my wife had the king salmon salmon special both were 6/5. I have heard mixed reviews about this place, but if what I experienced is the everyday norm this is hands down one of my favorite restaurants going forward."

The biggest draw back would have to be the atmosphere... its set in an authentic Italian Restaurant, but when me and my Fiancee sat down they had loud punky rock and heavy metal music playing???? Seemed to be way out of line with the theme and later was playing Spanish music so strange."

  • "I definetly would not return to this restaurant. We had reservations, we waited two hours to get our table. Service was the worst I have ever seen. It took 30 minutes for the waiter to get to our table to take our drink order. Then after our drinks came another half hour to take our order!!! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!!"

  • "Have driven past here for years, as a regular at Franchescas it never registered for me to stop in . Glad we did over the weekend, as I was beyond impressed. Service was impeccable, our waiter knew his wine beyond my knowledge and with a true italian accent . The menu is traditional, and the food is authentic as can be . The zuppe di mare was one of the best I have had, to top it off the limoncello cake has me going back again next weekend . It was a Sunday they were very busy which seemed to slow things down a bit, but with a bottle of wine and the afternoon I did not care."

  • "Food is authentic and delicious, good portions for the price. You will never get a bad meal here. However (not the waitstaff's fault!!) the service is SLOW. They need more waiters. Our poor waiter was doing bar and waiter duty at the same time. so we didn't get bread until the meal started, and water refills were sparse.Waiters are very courteous and kind and did their best. Also, they do need to have more even heating. They put us in the room by the bar which was freezing. The chairs are very uncomfortable, too. they are a hard wood with a weird shape. Some nice padded chairs or cushions would be a great addition to a restaurant whose decor and food are above average. Why not make this a great place by adding a couple waiters?"

  • "They seemed annoyed with well behaved 4 yr old and 3 mo old. Service was slow on a very slow night. They charged gratuity because we had a party of 6 (4 adults, 1 child and 1 baby who did mot eat). The molten lava cake was cold and risotto tasted like bad rice. Pasta and calamari were good but bruschetta was extremely small but good."

  • "This was my wife and I's first visit to this restaurant but it won't be our last. The waiter was very friendly. Unfortunately they had run out of my beer choice (these things happen) so I decided to opt for a bottle of wine which caused a slight expression of surprise from the waiter and my wife, but 1. I wasn't driving, 2. it was Christmas Eve and 3. 1 bottle of wine is about the right amount for me. The wine proved to be the softest Malbec I have ever tasted - very nice. We each had starters and main courses but with various extras along the way we ended up having about 5 courses which is very Italian. The bread and salad was excellent but our ordered courses were not quite so good but still good. We were to full to face dessert."
