  • "Mamma Mia's is a hidden gem in downtown Rochester. It's just off Main Street/Rochester Road yet overlooks a park with a babbling stream (Paint Creek). Food is scrumptious & service is great. A beautiful, relaxing view of nature is the icing on the cake!"

  • "It took 50 minutes just to get a drink when the place was basically EMPTY. Two Hours before we got a salad and three hours for six of us to complete a basic meal. HORRIBLE. "

  • "We were in the neighborhood and needed a place to eat. So I checked the OpenTable app and this is the restaurant that came up closest. When we first walked in we were surprised by how empty the restaurant was. We sat down ordered some wine some appetizers and then our meal. Everything we ordered was delicious. The staff was very friendly. If you're in the mood for Italian, there's absolutely no reason to not go to this restaurant."

  • "We have loud restaurants everywhere. Beer nights .... Or the trendy new brewery places. So if you want a quiet peaceful place to visit with your own table without competing with the rowdy group in the next table....THIS is the place! The salad was wonderful and chefs attention to details didn't go unnoticed. The lasagna I enjoyed and the pork chop special my husband ordered were well received. We will be back! I can't wait to see the view of trees in the spring, summer, and fall!"

  • "There was about 4-5 tables with people at them. Hostess was at the bar, and needed to be told to turn around to seat us. She sat us at a dirty table. I asked for it to be wiped and she came back with a rag that smelled and probably has not been rinsed for hours. We then got our wine. Our server looked and seemed really busy. After we got the wine it took him 10 minutes to stop and take our order. He was very uneducated about the menu. I asked if it was creamy Italian dressing, he told me it was wishbone. We got our food, my Alfredo was burnt from the heat lamp and sauce was hard. My meal was bad. Wife had eggplant. She couldn't cut through the skin. Hers came out hot, so i assume mine was sitting for a while."

  • "I went here for a first date this past winter. It was quiet and comfortable with light music playing from ceiling speakers. I think the wine list was longer than the food list, which I don't mind. I like when restaurants have short food lists because that usually means they make them each well! In this case that held true. I had the spaghetti with meatballs and bolognese sauce. I would recommend going with the meatballs and marinara sauce next time. The food was great but there was a lot more meat than I needed. My date got a pizza and it looked amazing and she says it tasted great. It was pretty big for one person so she took some home. A pizza to share would have been perfect. The prices were reasonable."

  • "Huge Restaurant - Hidden from main street. Hardly anyone there on Saturday Night. Food was Good, But bland and mostly not hot enough temperature wise. No Freshly Crushed Black Pepper - a must for italian food. None even on table - had to ask. Tiramisu - too much whip cream. Excellent Burchetta!"

  • "We enjoyed this restaurant very much. It was great to look out the window at the brook going by through the snow covered hills. The quality of the food was very good. We loved how the potatoes were presented and tasted, and the asparagras was crisp. We didn't care for the ceramic tile tables ( at least during the winter ). They were cold to the touch. Despite that we would go here again. Also if you like wine, they have a great selection of prime wines."

When are entree's came my hats off to the chef the my stuffed lobster was perfect along with my husbands osso bucco. Kelly are server was just as amazing. I will be telling all my friends about Mamma Mais. If your in rochester it is a must stop."

  • "The worst Italian food I have ever had. The food should have been exquisite considering the fact that it took over an hour for us to get our food. The seafood (shrimp and calamari) was rubbery and hard and the ravioli tasted bland and rock hard. The waitress was nice and seemed quite stressed out."

  • "We went for a Valentine's, the food; decor; ambience all good. Service was appalling! Took the manager (?) ages to process people at the foyer. Waited too long at the bar for a drink, while a couple already there waited forever for a salad which eventually came with the wrong dressing. Had to remind manager we were still waiting for table Ordered breadsticks which eventually came .. twice! Then waited app one hour for our main course. During that time, the manager wandered aimlessly, never once asked how we were doing. asked for salt, pepper .. never arrived. Most of the people around us seemed to be having similar issues. This place has great potential, but needs a thorough management review. It spoiled our night but the food was good."

  • "The food was fine but the service was horrible. We had a 7pm reservation and arrived promptly. After waiting for 20 minutes in the outside lobby, we were finally seated at one of several empty tables. We had to find our own silverware. Our waitress tried hard, but was clearly stressed as the restaurant needs some management. It was so bad that everyone around us started joking with each other. We finally got our meal and left 2.5 hours after getting there. That was without dessert. Good thing we weren't going to a show afterwards! We saw a few couples leave after waiting so long and not even being able to place an order."

  • "We went there for valentine's day. We went there at 8.00 PM, even though we had reservation, we had to wait for 20 mins to get a table. Then it took almost 30 mins for the waiter to show up. Then after we order our food, gosh it took them forever to get the food. They are dead slow. Food is very good, but waiting is horrible. We got our food at 10.30 PM, really?????We were starved!!!!! Don't go to this place for any special occasion unless u had lot of time, say like at least one hour to wait just for food. But food is very nice though...waiter is OK...ambiance is very romantic...scenic view...perfect place for date night."

  • "Had a reservation for two at 7:00pm. When we arrived the entrance was empty and we were told by the host that they are understaffed and we will have to wait. We were waiting in the entrance for a solid 30 minutes with nobody coming to check up on us until they finally started seating. When we got our table we had to wait 40 minutes for our server to recognize us and give us water. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get our salad and bread, which we didn't even get utensils to eat it with! We ordered chicken afredo and chicken marsella. It was delicious but by the time we got our meals we just wanted to leave."

  • "We arrived on Valentine's Day for our reservation at 6:45 and were told we should go to the bar as our table was not ready yet The couple sitting next to us at the bar was a wealth of information. They said the food is great but the service is always terrible. She said they are regulars but always sit at the bar because the service is much better. Salmon was excellent but service very slow."

  • "When we arrived, they had a hard time finding our reservation. We were then seated next to the doors that go out to the patio. It is Michigan and it is cold outside which made it cold at the table. The table top was almost freezing. Our drink order and appetizer order was taken quickly. Our drinks came and our dinner order was taken. Some time after our soup and salad, our appetizer arrived with an explanation that our appetizer was put in to the wrong side whatever that meant. The soup was excellent by the way. After we each had a steak bruschetta, which was excellent, our dinner came which wasn't much time to enjoy the appetizer. My meat was dry but my wife's spaghetti was very good. Overall the meal was disappointing."

  • "Mamma Mia restaurant is located Downtown Rochester. Once I entered the restaurant, I enjoyed the ambience. However, the area where we were seated was cold, at least for my wife. We tried to request to move, but that was not going to happen. The food, spaghetti with meat sauce and a meatball for me, was good, but I have had better at Brio's. The scallops were good, but the taste was bland. It needed some flavor to make it more interesting. The water tasted as it was brought from the faucet, which is amazingly disappointed, due to the price on their menu. I would have assumed the water would not be tap water, but bottled water. The overall experience was not overly bad. But it could've been better."

  • "Atmosphere in this hidden restaurant is quiet and relaxing with a nice fireplace to lend to the warmth of the room. Each time we visit, we attempt a different dish and leave happy. The special this night was the penne pasta with chicken and wild mushrooms. Three of our party ordered the special and agreed it was a good combination of flavors. Waitstaff was pleasant and knew about good service however, I felt the restaurant was understaffed, not allowing to serve at full potential. Overall, the birthday celebration was nice."

  • "Good food, very pleasant staff. Sat next to the fireplace...warm and romantic...nice to watch the river rush by. The waiter got the wine wrong the first time but corrected it immediately. Nice experience."

  • "I had the four-cheese baked lasagna. It was delicious. My wife had the Tuscan salmon (with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, on a seared cornbread with pesto sauce) which was also delicious. However, the service was definitely subpar. The waiter only returned when he had something to deliver. We got bread quickly, but salad dressings were wrong. I didn't get a refill on my water until I was almost done. Kids meals were $9 each, and that was for chicken strips and mac & cheese! But, the meals my wife and I had were similar to what we get up the street at Lino's, and a $3-$5 cheaper (here). I will not go back to Mamma Mia - I'll pay more at Lino's, get better service, chat w/the owner, and feel comfortable rather than bothering the staff...."

  • "This was our second time here. The first time we went was a Sunday night hardly no one there and service was slow. The food was very good. We each had veal and it was wonderful. Brought our boys there on a Saturday night. We waited in lobby five mins before anyone came to greet us. The service was even slower this time!! The veal was amazing again. However the rest of the family had pasta. My one sons pasta was over cooked and clumped all together. He couldn't eat it. Server never ce back to check. We couldn't find them. By the time they came back we were done with our food and we returned the overdone pasta. There was no way we were going to wait to recook it. It's a shame they really do have the potential"

  • "We were able to get a reservation for New Year's Eve and we were not disappointed. The food was good, not outstanding and a bit pricey. Our server was rushed but tried to give us good service. Nicely decorated for the Holidays. Looks like they have some nice deals for their two Happy Hour sessions. We are planning our return to try them."

  • "The location & atmosphere are nice. Food was good & plentiful. Service was not good enough, although not horrible either. This restaurant location has been many different establishments, and none have survived. I think with improved service & some good PR, Mamma Mia could be a very nice place to dine out with friends or just that special someone."

  • "Many don't even know this Italian restaurant even exists, therefore, never a wait. Food has declined over the past year. Used to serve awesome eggplant, now it tends to be soggy. Rosotto very average. Lasagna good but $15.95? Veal is good but overpriced. Happy Hour is the only bargain here. Such potential though... DaFrancesco in Shelby Twp is still the best local Italian food."

  • "Took my parents and soon to be in laws to dinner after the holidays. The waiter was just awful! They didn't have half of our drink requests, simple wine off the menu. The food was way over priced. So disappointed!!!"

  • "The Parmesan risotto is awesome! So was the complimentary garlic bread! The lasagna was just ok (lots and lots of sauce buries the noodles). On the night we went, the restaurant happened to be short-staffed. There was only one woman who was bartending and waiting and bussing tables. Thankfully for her, there was only a handful of tables but she still had her hands full. Consequently, our dining experience was about 2 hours. She did a nice job, and we weren't in a hurry, fortunately. They also take reservations, which is a plus!"

  • "We arrived right at our reservation time and were practically the only people in the restaurant -- yet it still took several minutes for anyone to even show up at the host stand. Our Grey Goose martini came with bugs inside. TWO BUGS. So we sent it back -- the server did not seem shocked or embarrassed in the least. The second attempt smelled fruity ... and definitely did not contain Grey Goose. Oh and, not only were we charged for the martini -- pretty ballsy considering it initially had bugs in it -- but were also charged extra for the Grey Goose that was supposedly in it. Our food was fine. When our wine arrived, it was some cheaper chardonnay that wasn't what we had ordered. But you can bet we were charged for the more expensive kind!"

  • "Went with my family. I had scallops that were very good. My husband just had spaghetti with meatball and sausage. He dais sausage was just ok, my son though really liked it! Kids had spaghetti and cheese ravioli. Both enjoyed their food. Good portion sizes. My daughter likes steak, but it was pricey, so she did not order it. My scallops were 27$, on the high side, but like I said, were worth it. Food portions were large and came with bread, soup or salad. Boys got soup which I tried and v was very tasty. Ceasar salad was also good. Bread was right or of out of oven, couldn't go wrong there. Our waiter was very attentive, polite, and informative. All you could've asked for."

  • "It's not a place for a nice, but quick, meal. Eating is an event, not just an activity. When I made the reservation, I didn't realize how much time the staff would allow you to enjoy each course. By the time we got our dinner course, we had eat to quickly so we had enough time to get from the restaurant to our next destination. (We had a little over an hour between activities). We didn't have time for coffee or dessert. That was a bummer, given how amazing the other courses were."

  • "Not many places in Rochester, MI that can stand up to Mama Mia's. The food was incredible, the wine never stopped flowing and you have a beautiful view of Paint Creek from the patio. I went there as part of a business group, but will return with my wife the next time we're out on the town!"

  • "We have been at Mama Mia a few times and the service was the same. They do not have enough wait staff. We had to wait to be seated quite a while and they were not busy. It took a long time to fix the wobbly table. The bill was not right. The server needs to know how to serve and not put his arm in someone's face. Overall, it's a nice place with very good food, but not so good service."
