Everything about it is beautiful! Actually, it's beyond beautiful! The food is excellent and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service goes well beyond my expectations- the free valet, hosts and wait staff are all so attentive. And the view!! It's Hawaii! You can bet your bottom dollar it's going to be perfect. It's no wonder we choose to come back here every time and the place my husband chose to propose. Most recently we brought our son (just two days before this post) to celebrate his 5th birthday. They even put a special sign for him wishing him happy birthday on our table. They do however, have very attentive staff, complimentary valet parking, and a gorgeous view. Most appetizers start at $20, so it is definitely not a budget dining place. However, if you're looking to mark a special occasion, and you love to eat out and don't mind spending a little extra for food that is overpriced, then this is it. Locally caught seafood (name of boat with the catch), octopus, salads and killer desserts. Everything we tried was outstanding.
One of the few spots with carafe coffee, huge fresh pot.
Servers were great, attentive, but leaving lots of time to sit quietly and enjoy both the view of the little beach, the gardens and the parade of other diners.
Rest of Maui rather disappointing, so this drive to the other side of the island was well worth it. Make a reservation well ahead of time for dinner before sunset so you can see the wonderful "beach" location. It's so hard to describe just how unique this place is in all aspects....everything from the locale (and boat on the road) to the building itself which has evolved over time...from the food to the incredible floral arrangements....yet you can go in shorts and feel totally relaxed! It's a bit pricey but worth every penny....and don't miss the desserts! congratulated us and gave my wife a LEI that was so beautiful. It was about 1 hour 15 minute drive and we got stuck in a little traffic.
So when we got there my wife and I were a little frustrated.
But it went away fast. Starting with traditional Mai Tai's, first course of salad was crisp, colorful and lightly dressed. Sweet Hawaiian bread with creamy butter accompanied it. Neither of us could resist ordering the stuffed mahi mahi with macadamia nut crust, fresh asparagus, herbed rice and a luscious buerre blanc sauce. As it was my husbands birthday, they sat us at a great table looking out on the golden sands in plenty of time to watch the tamarind sunset. They also made a special card for him and served a delicious homemade banana ice cream for desert. First, the location is excellent. While not right on the water the restaurant has some spectacular views especially if you go around sunset. My wife and I arrived a little before our reservation time and were sat at the bar until our table was ready. The drinks were excellent. All the food was great from the appetizers to the entrees. Unfortunately we didn't sample dessert since we had to catch our plane. All the wait staff was attentive and upbeat. The restaurant is almost a Disney attraction in itself (in a good way) loaded with ambiance. The food was outstanding, local fish extremely fresh and well-prepared. My only complaint was we arrived a little early (1/2 hr) and still waited another 40 min or so past our reservation time....altogether 1+ hour, even though beautiful setting, that's still too long. But all else great. I recommend that if dates are flexible, one should book early and keep trying till you can get a 6pm. When placing the reservations I was asked if it was a special occasion, I stated yes our last day of Maui vacation. To our surprise when seated we had one of the best tables in the place, sitting with a beautiful view of the beach/ocean. Our server Tim was fabulous. He knew the menu front and back and asked our likes to guide him on providing suggestions. As the name says the fish is excellent although there selection of land items are wonderful also
There one downfall is that it is very pricey and there lunch menu is the same price as there dinner menu
So if you think going there for lunch will be a little less you will be surprised as I was

Mama's always has the best freshly caught fish on Maui. This time we had Uku and Lehi, both are in the snapper family. The presentation was elegant, and the preparations were delicious. You always feel pampered by the service you receive, and Mama's always includes little goodies such as a small cup of soup and a small bite of dessert with the meal. Be prepared for an excellent dining experience while watching ambitious wind surfers flying across the water. We arrived there at 6:15 pm and as you enter the outdoor entrance, your breath is taken away by the view of the beach and ocean. Save time for a great photo op in this area!! The restaurant is open air and we had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. The décor is "island theme" with beautiful Hawaiian floral arrangements! The service is amazing, yet relaxed. Food is exceptional!! The best we had in Maui! A must while in Maui, but be warned, it is expensive! Party of 4...1 drink each, appetizers, salad, entrée, dessert and coffee ran us $500 with tax and tip! The mahi-mahi stuffed with crab and lobster, encrusted with macadamia nuts is the meal this restaurant is known for, and it doesn't disappoint!
