About this restaurant

Bangkok Joe's makes its customers happy by providing great gluten-free food. The restaurant is also famous because it offers awesome Thai cuisine to the visitors. From the inside the restaurant's attire is casual, but comfortable. The place is good for dining out with large groups of guests. People were extremely disappointed when Bangkok Joe's closed its doors a few years ago. Now that it's back on the road, flocks of orders rush for the delicious treats. Popular entrees in Bangkok Joe's menu include the chicken basil kapow, penang chicken curry, dumpling and rolls. Cocktails and alcohol beverages are also offered. The Bangkok iced tea is often found to be refreshing after a full course meal. A thing which seems fascinating to all visitors is that the food is not very much Thai in its presentation and taste. In fact, it's more of a modern Americanized Thai cuisine.

I've been to this restaurant twice and both times it was nearly empty. I had the red curry and chicken cashew nuts dishes. Both were all right but nothing special. Bottles of wine are priced well and the happy hour is uncrowded and a relatively good deal. This seems like a nice, low-cost-for-DC, casual place, as long as you lower expectations on the food before ordering.

I decided to go to Mama Rouge for my bday and I was very disappointed. The food took Over an hour to arrive and the waiter brought out the wrong order for a couple of people in my party. Instead of taking it back and apologizing the waiter questions them saying "you can't eat that?" Poor service and the food was over cooked and not hot.

Our waiter was prompt, attentive and friendly. We ordered summer rolls. The food was ok but the sauce was watery. My husband ordered pad thaï. His food was ok but not great. A little tasteless. I ordered pineapple fried rice and it was good. The food arrived fast. The location and decor was lovely.

Welcome by manager friendly and professional. Tuan, our server, was efficient, knowledgeable and attentive. Appetizers (calamari and coconut shrimp), mains (seafood curry, Massaman, pad Thai, and ginger veggies), and desserts were delicious, flavorful and professionally presented and served. We also enjoyed the "Enfants Terribles" red, deftly opened and poured by Tuan (who ensured glasses were never empty) ... and we ordered and relished a second bottle. We did not have the opportunity to sample a nicely crafted cocktail this time ... but we'll be back!!

Great food but be careful of over-salting. The fried rice was very over-salted. Summer rolls great; pad Thai too.

In town for work and eating alone on a slow night, only two other tables with people, ordered the Banh Mi and was brought Pho, when I questioned it, the waiter said that is what I ordered. After I corrected him he offer to replace the food but it so long to get that order I said I would just eat it. Okay, but nothing to return for in the future. Got billed for the wrong item in the check. There are so many other places to eat at in Georgetown, no reason to return.

Was expecting a cute place with good food, got a cute place. My food was not at all what the menu said, I got the pad Thai that was supposed to have been cooked peanut sauce. It must have been a thin oil they maybe put a drop of in. It was like eating super salty cooked noodles with undercooked salty veggies and just disappointing. I even flagged the waitress down for sauce and after bringing me literally oil first then brought me sauce, she didnt even look at me or say anything, just dropped it on the table. She seemed absentminded and never checked on us, I had gotten the sauce halfway throught my meal simply because she didn't pay attention to us and I had finally called her to please come for sauce and water. My friends Chicken fried rice was incredibly dry and she had to ask for soy sauce to drench it to make it edible. My other friend was pleased with her meal, so could have just been the dishes we got? But the service was unimpressive for a fairly pricy meal.

This is not one of those brunches where there is a huge buffet of dozens and dozens of items. There is a relatively small limited menu. What's so wonderful is that the menu has a few classics such as eggs benedict as well as some atypical items such as a brief/apricot crepe topped with a light honey mustard (light on the mustard too!) sauce w/mixed summer greens. Absolutely outstanding and at a fantastic price as well
