Mama Kim EatsMmmmm!I can always count on Mama Kim's for great fresh, seasonal, local dishes. There is always something for everyone on her menu. Love it here! Her staff is always great at customer service.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTreasureFood was wonderful - interesting combinations - fresh - big portions - Waiter was attentive but not intrusive.
Art Gallery in same bldg. Jazz music.
Will go again & tell all my friends,
Rest of group felt the same & we all plan to come back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food!Atmosphere was wonderful! I read previous reviews saying that the music was too loud, but that was not the case for me. The band was great! I really enjoyed the music, and the food was to die for! You could tell the Chef's did their very best in preparing each and every single plate. The food for Mother's Day brunch was on the expensive side, but that is the norm for a Holiday. Also, the only thing that really disappointed me was the limited menu for the brunch, but again this is normal for Mother's Day. I will definitely be returning to try a dish or two, or three from their standard menu!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Eats on a ThursdayThe four of us had an excellent dining experience with great food and service. We ordered the fried chicken and ribs and were not disappointed. The quantities was so large that none of us could finish our plates so we doggy boxed them home for another day. The servers were attentive and quick despite the large crowd for this evening. I can't wait to return, possibly for a Father's Day brunch or even sooner!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMRay Charles at his best!My husband, being thee state worker that he is, has eaten many times downtown at Mama Kim's truck. He would come home and rave about it. We finally got a chance to go to their new brick and mortar. It was SO sensational. The food was 5 star, the service was superb, and when the band started playing...with Phillip at the microphone..WELL, the evening started rockin" I am taking my sister from Seattle there this Friday...there are alot of restaurants in Folsom to entertain but NONE like Mama Kim Eats!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOn a Friday night , it wasOn a Friday night , it was not too busy early, around 6pm, when we had to go. The sangria was great. The wines are out of the main stream but very good and reasonably priced. We had lamb sliders to start - they are tender, juicy and tasty. My wife had braised short rib , very good with rich complex flavor. I had swordfish that was simply prepared but flavorful and enjoyable. Service was very friendly and helpful. A 3 piece band was playing - also very good. The singer brought a couple of wines to try - gratis. Great atmosphere all round.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMToo NoisyThe food at this restaurant is excellent, with an interesting menu featuring some southern influenced dishes. However the music was so loud that it pretty much ruined the whole experience. I would have liked the music if we could have really heard it but it was os loud that it just became unpleasant noise. ONe of our party wears hearing aides and he was miserable and didn't even like the food. The remaining 3 of us did like the food very much and would go back if the noise problem could be solved. Unfortunately we did not sit on the patio and I imagine that it would be quieter on the patio. The restaurant was not very busy when we were there and I guess that th noise level would be even worse if the restaurant was full.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA Hidden GemIf I were not going to The Big Idea Theater for a friend's play that night, I would never had known about this hidden gem. The food was superb, the live jazz band was cool, and I really liked the "virtual menu" that the server presented. When I asked about a dish, the server presented an iPad with pictures for a majority of the dishes and explained what to expect from each dish asked about. I thought it made the anticipation of our food that much more alluring. I loved the atmosphere, the bar drinks, and the food. To sum it up, YUM!!! And, I, and the rest of my party, are already planning another fabulous night starting with Mama Kim Cooks.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNice birthday dinnerOur fourth time there, went to celebrate a birthday. As always, lotsa fun and GREAT food. Our not-so-adventurous-eater daughter branched out and tried a few new things...successful experiment. Enjoyed visiting with one of the cooks later. Like the laid-back vibe, but upscale. Mama Kim's is a new fav for our family.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMfood is delicious. choosefood is delicious. choose any item, you cant go wrong.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMama Kim'sRecently just found this place, went for Easter Brunch. Excellent food, excellent live music, waitress was ok. Will be going back for lunch and dinner. This place is a great place and would grow with bigger advertisement.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWill be back soon...Just had the Easter brunch: delicious food, live music, great service. What more could you want? Special brunch menu items we chose were wild mushroom frittata with grilled asparagus and heirloom beets; my partner had smoked trout hash and eggs and both were scrumptious. Additional treats included fresh fruit, scones, hot cross buns and four desserts. As for service, Beth was attentive and anticipated our needs. A lovely morning.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent new restaurantMy wife and I first attended Mama Kim's for a wine maker dinner and loved it. My wife decided it would be perfect for her birthday celebration, and it was. We went on a Saturday night so there was music with Phillip singing blues and other songs from the sixties with a wonderful electric guitar accompaniment. Carol sang along on most of the songs. Phillip sang her happy birthday with style. The food was exquisite. I had the beet salad, baby backed ribs and jalapeno corn bread and I can't recall what Carol had right now, but she was blown away. We also had a pecan pie type dish with a small amount of ice cream and a sweet cream sauce that was unbelievable. We will definitely bring friends back with us.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great time -- theWe had a great time -- the Southern-influenced locovore menu for brunch was fresh and flavorful, augmented by local beers; jazz combo was great. Really, really nice vibe. We'll be back!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMfun night. wonderful musicfun night. wonderful music and great food. place was slammed and service a bit off as to pacing of food and responsiveness. this will come in time though if they keep working at it as the establishment is young. adding a bus boy when that busy would help. remembering to clear all from dinner before dessert would then be easier, etc. etc. But, excellent food and that is what counts the most.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe music is wonderful. AThe music is wonderful. A real add to the experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
