It is now an integrated part of our visits - at dinner we always order the hocks (part of our ritual ) - amazing - but be warned, don't order a starter first ..... On our last visit we went for lunch also - menu was superb and was just as enjoyable. We will certainly go again for lunch,
This is the place I ask our american friends to meet us. It is amazing how many them are not aware of Mahoney's. The food was very good and prepared perfectly, the service was also very good and they have a great wine list. Noticeably absent wet some of the finer Argentinian winds. The only drawback was a sommelier who steered you to the more expensive wines not realizing I had knowledge of wines. That was very disappointing. I would return though as the food was great although the noise level was much too high as in most steak house. Dessert was good portion too.
Noise level low although restaurant was somewhat empty (ask for upstairs area, much quieter than downstairs)

With Post House's $24 lunch and now M & P's wonderful $79 wine dinner, I salute him. Handsome by steakhouse standards and extremely well-run, one looks forward to eating here. We began with a sparkling, generous crab cocktail and a tuna carpaccio. Our 32 oz. Porterhouse was clearly dry-aged prime and cooked perfectly,served with cippolini and individual marrow bones. Desserts were no let-down. The wines and beer that kept coming were well chosen and consistent with the feeling one gets that no corners are cut in this deal. Our server TT was everything one could ask for and then some. Watching dishes being finished table side let us know were were in for a spectacular meal...and we were! I had the Bronson Pinchot and my husband chose one of the dry aged cuts...both were scrumptious! The whipped potatoes were like heavenly clouds of creaminess and even the carrots had a surprising flavor of their own ( they were accompanied by lemony onions!). The entire staff was fantastic, but, our waiter was a star! He made us feel welcome, even with our many questions, and kept us quite happy all evening! This was a romantic evening for us but we could easily see this as a great place with friends as well! Their Cracklin' Pork Shank is one of a kind and we've never found anything like it at any other restaurant. They are perfectly salted and warm out of the oven. The mustard butter which accompanies the pretzel sticks is out of this world! The meal got off to a bad start when the meat was delivered undercooked and the home fries were cold (and poorly seasoned). The waiter immediately took care of the problem and returned with a perfectly cooked steak and comped us for our glasses of wine and the new order of potato puffs. The maitre d' also came to our table to make sure that we were satisfied and offered to do anything to make us happy. We told him that the actions taken by his staff and wonderful steak were all that is necessary. This is truly a class operation and the way a restaurant should operate to make it's clientele happy.
